I did experience this too, when I bought a copy from a market in south Asia. This was an interesting feature, you know, being a child and having an in-game npc whose supposed to be a fairy, telling me, my copy is illegal and then using semi-horror (Doki-Doki-like) tactics to ruin the whole gameplay. If you ask me today, it think this was a spectacularly greedy decision made by an otherwise great company. Developers from the 2012 cult game, Hotline Miami inevitably saw their game being torrented like mad, as it was only about 400 mb in size, but they made patches to the illegal version especially, because they didn't want to ruin the experience for the gamers.
No mention of the fact that they remade this game without any of the original source code and they had to come up with a new software called Spyroscope to collect data such as jump height, run speed, etc to make the new game play accurate to the original.
Did you know?: Spyro is the first game that the characters move their mouths to the words they are saying. Previously they did nothing or just opened and closed them randomly or something along those lines :)
I mean, TLoS was more combat oriented and a bit more on the mature side. Everything worked well gameplay wise though it wasn't super innovative, borrowing from GoW and DMC for combat, with some minor improvement to the platforming of the original games. Beyond all of that it had a better story. Some people criticize the difficulty of the latter 2 games in the series.
Balancewise it was a mess. Every single game had a single way that obliterated almost every enemy because of an unintentional side-effect (like using lightning breath in the first game to drop enemies off 2ft drops and have them instantly die), and they felt sorta unpolished , but they weren't bad by any stretch of the imagination.
I feel like the fact so many companies restrict their devs from sneaking in easter eggs to leave their 'signature' is where so many games are losing their soul. Devs put their marks in games that they love, and it really shows the passion they had for making the game....
Insomniac made Spyro purple so he wouldn't blend into the background too much and now, several stages in the reignited trilogy have purple filter on them......
I really like this video! I watched a few other video about Spyro random facts but there were many that I didn’t know in your video! Just wanted to let you know thanks :)
I love the relationship Insomniac has with Naughty Dog. I knew Ratchet & Clank and Jak & Daxter had fun nods to each other, but didn't know Spyro and Crash had something similar going on.
I remember that about 1 week before they announced the reignited trilogy, that someone made a fan-made trailer for a so called "Spyro the dragon:Treasure Trilogy"
Holy. Fucking. Shit. I loved Spyro growing up and I watched the Amanda Show, I used to swear that I knew the credit theme from somewhere and I never put those two together
Ironically, as much as they were trying to avoid Disney's Pete's Dragon, Spyro looks very much like another iconic Disney Dragon, Figment...right down to the color and the horns.
The game isn't slower in Japan, just the charge is as fast as normal walking speed, and Spyro 2 doesn't let you speed up the game, but u can put the camera like in the American, eureopean and Australian release but the charge is still slow
Heres another fact in year of the dragon in the level icy peak there are two polar bears with canadian accents named bob and doug after bob and doug mckenzie from a sketch comedy called sctv
I wonder if any of the cheats from the PS1 games will work in the Reignited Trilogy. Spyro 3 had a TON of them from changing his colour to making the skateboard look like a squid! I want to play as Big Head Spyro too!
7:18 you have no idea how many times I replayed Spyro 3 as a child because of this lol. I only had a pirated copy, sadly. Then at some point I managed to get my hands on an real one and I was finally able to clear the entire game.
I know people might know this. But the concept of floating islands has existed since Spyro 1 with the Dream Weavers hub world. So that isn't something new.
Did you know the right pronunciation of Spyro name is the Italian one, "Speero" (or Spiro, Italian spelling)? That's because Spyro derives from pyro, fire in Greek, and the english pronunciation is wrong.
How come I've seen no one requesting Spyro to be in Smash Ultimate? It's mostly Banjo Kazooie, Crash Bandicoot, and even Ray Man fans. Spyro was around the same generation as those other video game characters. Is Spyro not iconic?
As they said Spyro is unknown in the Japan due to bonkers decisions of some idiot. Though I hope that if Crash get spot, they would get Spyro in bundle.
Crash and Spyro have teamed up. Albeit in okay games, ala pokemon style (Purple and Orange version). I would LOVE to see Spyro and Crash make it into Super Smash Bros. Imagine that? Mario, Sonic, Crash and Spyro all duking it out? Once that happens, Smash will be complete!

Developers from the 2012 cult game, Hotline Miami inevitably saw their game being torrented like mad, as it was only about 400 mb in size, but they made patches to the illegal version especially, because they didn't want to ruin the experience for the gamers.
I always liked the enemy designs in the series they didn’t generally take from preexisting mythical creatures they created their own creatures
Fat guys with green skin.
Missed opportunity having Jeremy Dooley to narrate this. He's a massive Spyro fan.
9:04 I am surprised that you guys never mentioned the crossover games Spyro Orange and Crash Purple for the GBA on his part on the video
Spyro and Crash Bandicoot also had crossover games for the GBA where they team up to fight both games main villains
No mention of the fact that they remade this game without any of the original source code and they had to come up with a new software called Spyroscope to collect data such as jump height, run speed, etc to make the new game play accurate to the original.
oooh so that's why spyro's flying mechanics are so advanced for the time
Hey, Japan! Want your game to run as well as the NTSC version?! COMPLETE THE WHOLE GAME THEN!!
The Japanese version of Spyro is butchered way beyond the speed. The camera is fixed position. It makes the games unplayable.
Copeland better come back for part 4!!! He has some magic up his sleeve I promise you that!!!
Did you know?: Spyro is the first game that the characters move their mouths to the words they are saying. Previously they did nothing or just opened and closed them randomly or something along those lines :)
Spyro, the original Game of Thrones dragon.
Now he's in CTR... Life is funny sometimes
All these years I had a feeling about that Amanda Show Theme. And here in 2018 my suspicions have been confirmed. *Sheds man tear*
This is awesome! First, a DYKG Crash video from last year and now this year we get a Spyro DYKG! :D
This Tuesday Ahhhhhhhh!!!!! Spyro is already downloaded just waiting to play it now.
And he was surprised that they're doing Spyro the Dragon where you made a trilogy and he didn't get no recognition for it
Damn, the menu oo n of dragonheart really brought memories of my childhood flooding back. Pity the following two were so bad.
Oh, look!
Caddy finally made the fabled Spyro video!
Never played the originals but I loved the ps2 games where Elijah Wood and Gary Oldman voiced Spyro and Ignitus!
Pleez leeve
You can't pretend that the TLoS trilogy didn't have fans.
If you enjoyed those then you'll love these. They're a bit more whimsical, but that's the charm of them.
Anyone else get whiplash from that switch to lewd Spongebob at the end?
This is the closet we're ever going to get with a true Caddy Spyro PS1 video.
Here's some new Trivia: "Spyro" is also a name in Greece (but it is read "Speero" here)
Boundary Break collabs with PBG, then DYKG collabs with Caddicarus on the same day? This truly is the best timeline
So happy to see Caddi making a video about spyro
Still waiting for an announcement for the Switch port of Spyro Reignited...
I love learning all of the details that led to the creation of games as we know them now.
Holy shit! I remember disruptor! I used to have that game. Hard as hell.
My favorite 90s platformer. Crash was cool but Spyro was cooler.
I’ll say that the Spyro Trilogy has some beats to the ost.
So dynamic difficulty debuted with Spyro 3 instead of Resident Evil 4? Holy shit.
Did you know? Elora the faun is now elora the fawn? Just having a human shaped head doesn't make you human.
So stoked for the remake on Tuesday
9:40 and there goes my childhood.
They also had gba games where spyro and crash exchanged villains
Hearing how much people like Spyro makes me feel bad for not falling in love with the reignited trilogy like I did the N sane trilogy
Holy. Fucking.
Lol, you are correct.. though you menat outside color of the horns?
The game isn't slower in Japan, just the charge is as fast as normal walking speed, and Spyro 2 doesn't let you speed up the game, but u can put the camera like in the American, eureopean and Australian release but the charge is still slow
Omg I didn’t realize this was Caddy until the end... haha
Soo... since secret demos were a thing, CTR remastered in coming soon? So much yes please!!
That last part when you mentioned the demo, or was confirmed that the Spyro Trilogy was meant to be put there.
Heres another fact in year of the dragon in the level icy peak there are two polar bears with canadian accents named bob and doug after bob and doug mckenzie from a sketch comedy called sctv
I can't wait for that remake in a few days!
Closest thing we will ever get to Caddy talking about Spyro again...
Guess I'll just resume playing Dual Destinies while I wait for this video to fucking start already...
Very first game I ever played. The first Spyro game holds so much nostalgia for me
Crash and Spyro have teamed up. Albeit in okay games, ala pokemon style (Purple and Orange version). I would LOVE to see Spyro and Crash make it into Super Smash Bros. Imagine that? Mario, Sonic, Crash and Spyro all duking it out? Once that happens, Smash will be complete!
Man, I KNEW Spyro sounded like Rocko!
Finally an updated video on Spyro with Caddy
I wished that Nitro Rad could do Rayman Origins and Rayman Legends.
Spyro games series relly great and awesome can’t wait next one
C'mon guys, Reignited is a REMAKE, not a Remaster. Get your terminology straight please!
Thank you! Finally someone that knows this.
@@Stimich Thanks! I would have thought Shawn Layden's walkback on MediEvil would have set things straight but people just don't know what words mean anymore.
@@Stimich Except he is incorrect. Remake is a new game based on exact same plot as the original, when those would be exact same games with improved graphic. So the remasters.
@@TheRezro no they're remakes. It's not the same game. They're REMAKING it from the ground up. A remaster would be like Darksiders 1 and 2 on Ps4/XBOX1 where they made the framrate better, added/changed some details.
@@Wobbey363 Again, creators describe them as remasters. I agree with your point here, but scolding someone basing on opinion contradicting official sources is stil dumb.
Ah yes, Spark: former FORMER drummer for the rock band The Pee-Pees
