This is why Gamefreak just isn't a good developer. They excelled in the 90s when everything was sprite based because of their artwork. They failed to adapt.
@@calebb7012 yeah I really wished that'd give the games off to another dev team at Nintendo/that work with Nintendo. Like the new Pkmn snap games have so many Pkmn personalities and amazing animations, not to mention the world looks incredible (especially compared to gloomy galar). GF, really has been on the decline and it really sucks cause Pkmn is one of my favorite series
Imagine how silly you’d have to feel to have thought Pokémon was “just a fad” lmao. I watched it and enjoyed it as a young child, and now my children watch and enjoy it. I don’t think Pokémon is dying out any time soon!
There was a huge dip in the mid 00s, a lot of its first fans were in HS at that point and had moved on, it took for a new audience to keep it going and now it is run on nostalgia, and new audience. I even gave away a great classic collection of my cards to my friend’s little sister. I had multiple Charizards, 1st editions, promo and misprints of both American and Japanese cards.

If Pokemon is a fad, it's one that will go on until the end of time. I've stuck with Pokemon since my first save file of Pokemon Red and my first episode of the anime (which was also the first one) and I will stick with it forever
Elite Pippo Paperino still doesn’t change the fact it took a huge dip in mid 00s. I would say 2003-2007 at least, a lot of it’s audience lost interest.

It's funny that he keeps saying that the spinoff series would need to innovate to justify new installments when the main series games have repeated the same formula for over twenty years.

Back in 2014 he said the reason they didn't include post-game content in the Ruby/Sapphire remakes is because "kids these days spend more time on smartphone games, so they don't have much time to dedicate to a single game".
Just imagine designing your game around people playing other games instead. Your average developer would be fired for even saying this.

In Gold, I came across a shiny Rattata on my way to Mr. Pokemon, before you can catch it. So it's been all the way back since their introduction.
It remains the only random shiny I've ever encountered.

I’ve had five random encounters :
A Rattata in FireRed and a Wurmple in Emerald, but same circumstances (before Pokéballs, nothing can be done)
A Blitzle in White (first day I got the game, too)
A Dwebble in X
And just last night a Psyduck in Scarlet
I remember my first play through on Pokemon Gold I was like 9 years old lol I had all 16 badges was in Mt Silver trying to find where Red is and… A Shiny Golbat appeared, I had no Pokeballs left from catching all the Larvitars etc 🙃
The truth is that Game Freak has created a need for a Stadium-style game. With no current games able to use all of the Pokemon or moves of the franchise, a Stadium title seems entirely necessary now.

The moves that were cut were cut on purpose to reduce bloat. Most if not all are not going to be implemented again.

on the berry glitch, there was actually another option, which is what I did. we took my copies to a local game stop where, like the event pokemon of the time, you'd give it to the person behind the counter who would connect your game to a cartridge they had that would give the update and the shiny.

Fairy types - "Yes, yes you are..."
The Water type cancels out Dragon's weakness to Ice, meaning they would (in theory) only be weak to Dragon-type moves.
However, back in Gen 1, the only Dragon-type move in the game that dealt damage was Dragon Rage, which always dealt a fixed 40 damage.

The first time I realized the Pokémon company had lots of freedom apart from Nintendo was the release of Pokémon Go. I had just assumed they only developed for Nintendo until then.

@@stonefacecollin True, but the Pokémon company can basically do whatever they want independently from Nintendo, and they have. Nintendo has no say over what they put Pokémon into.
@Dad_Shoes so to add on they kind of do have majority control of the pokemon company because of creatures inc's involvement with nintendo and that a fair amount of that company is owned by Nintendo. So through creatures inc Nintendo has a little more leeway in control of the company than gamefreak on their own.
Sadly when that pokemon go money began flowing the pokemon company started chasing a second pokemon mobile wave that they own more or all of.
Hey! Virbank city is directly based on Burbank California! It’s a film studio city, it has a massive river in the middle of the city, the gym leader is a rock and roll star(Hollywood is 5 minutes drive) and is a poison type(LA smog). This is my favorite city in Unova and I wish it got more recognition!

I love it, pokemon is so mysterious they just captivated my young mind with all the hidden lore and rare events. I am so nostalgic for those times, pokenon fire red was my first game and boy oh man I did absolutely everything you could do in that game at least 5 times

I love these hour long fact videos cause I can listen to them while I "work"
Pokémon Blue was the first game I ever had that was all my own. I didn't even have a GameBoy when I got it and initially played using the Super Game Boy on the family's Super Nintendo. I eventually saved up enough for a sweet lime green GameBoy Color and matching worm light to be able to play at night on the top bunk.
The Wii U gamepad was perfect for Pokemon Snap! You could use it like a phone to take pictures vertically or horizontally. Super missed opportunity
Good luck holding that colossal nightmare controller in any way other than the already cumbersome intended way. Nintendo Land made you do this and it was horrible.

So in PL:A, after finishing the Unown Dex (Getting all Unown) you can get more unown in the Solaceon Ruins.
Also, I believe there is a small chance (5% or something idk) that all the unown in the Solaceon ruins will spell 'Unown'. Please Look into this!!!

Here’s a Pokémon fact for you: Lapras is based on not just the Loch Ness Monster, but also its Canadian counterpart. The Ogopogo is a monster said to reside in Okanagan Lake and stories about the Ogopogo can be found all across Canada. Also, people actually swim in Okanagan Lake and no one has encountered the beast!
Watching this video, you definitely get the feeling that this franchise has always been buggy and plagued with technical issues. It just really fucking came to a head with Sword and Shield.
This sentiment holds true now that BDSP is out. What a MESS.

Gen 1 Pokémon is infinitely more bug ridden than sword, it just comes from an era when no one actually knew how to make a proper video game so it gets a pass.
I only watch these videos for the creator spotlights, but I wish Did You Know Gaming talked about Pokémon spinoffs more often.

Unova is not just New York, it’s the United States in general, just compressed as much as possible and centered around a real city like most regions. It has the Midwest desert and it’s construction projects(the Hoover dam), Virbank(Burbank California, the cartoon capital of America), and many other specific regional cities. Why is it that I'm only now just finding out the pictures that I took for Ingress were the same ones used in Pokémon Go. The mention of Ingress unlocked so many memories, I was wondering why "Niantic" sounded so familiar when launching Pokémon Go for the first time.
I remember that all my friends and acquaintances were pretty psyched about Pokemon Stadium when it first released. We all wanted to buy it on release but there were worries about not having enough copies in my town bc it's small. We only had a single Walmart and that was it as far as who sold it in town. I ended up being able to get a copy before they ran out tho luckily. I was 14 at the time and the Pokemon craze was in full throttle during the late 90s/early 00s. I remember loving that you could play your GB game on the N64 and it had a turbo speed function that was super clutch for grinding levels. Those were the days! 😎🤣

Meanwhile I was so bad at Pokemon Sapphire that my mom printed an entire game FAQs walkthrough. We're talking over 300 pages if my memory is correct. She has since said that she is never going to do that again because it used up _WAY_ too many papers and ink especially since she literally printed the entire thing.
And even then I still couldn't beat the damn thing!
