Didn't know the Bomberman creator passed before he could see Bomberman in Smash. I've wanted him as a fighter since before Brawl. So many bombs and abilities, and being on more Nintendo consoles than most of the roster certainly has earned him a spot, I think.

Always my favorite part of Smash in general honestly. Huge respect for Sakurai's insane work ethic and what he's brought, but World of Light simply doesn't compare.

@@TrueTrickster2016 Such truth. I was like "Who the fuck are these sword guys?" and my buddy was like "Oh that's Fire Emblem, my dude" and some year or so later FE came out on the GBA in the west and I was hooked (On the earlier titles, at least)

Fun fact: the narrator saying "Mii Brawler, Mii Swordfighter, Mii Gunner" was actually gonna be in smash 4 but was ultimately scraped for just the narrator saying "Mii!". The scraped lines were put in ultimate though.

I kinda like the international n64 sound effects, something about them seems more fitting then the generic punch sounds of the original
Exactly, the JP originals just sound unfitting for such a cartoony game.
Whenever I think about Smash 64 those tinny, crazy sound effects are the first thing that come to my mind. It's so strange hearing the JP sound effects. If you ask me the International sound effects are more satisfying and impactful.
@AJ Martinez Yes? That is what I said. The JP sound effects are so stock you've probably heard them thousands of times. It's much more satisfying to hear that metallic "PWANG" when you launch or spike an opponent than a stock "psssh".
18:50 So it’s SEGA’s fault Sonic has such a lame move set? He probably would’ve had more unique moves if they let him in when Sakurai first asked.
Even if sonic was added in time he still would use the game Sonic the Fighters as a base for his moveset, I heard that some move ideas got replaced with existing fighters that looked "close enough" to the sonic the fighters moves... Like how Sonic's fair is similar to Pikachu's because a move in sonic the fighters has sonic spining in a similar way and moving forward, so they decided to go with that because it was easy to animate, just like pretty any ball move from sonic the fighters got added in to brawl because it was easy to animate
I can't believe that Sega disowned their own character.
@Grand Axel it still was SEGA's fault. Because SEGA finally allowed Sakurai and the team to add Sonic late in development, that resulted in delaying Brawl's Release, and still wasn't enough to give Sonic a unique moveset.
Those reuse animations you talked about were a the result of trying to get Sonic done on time before Brawl's Delayed Release Date. No doubt Sonic would have still used some moves from Sonic the Fighter as they're one of few only original Animations, but they're still not as many.
@@LucarioShirona Sonic moves got more original animations later on but they still keep the moves the same as brawl, it mostly seem like their priorities are on removing ball moves from sonic, like how they replaced Sonic's down smash from brawl to smash 4 and how replaced the dash attack from 4 to ult, the replacements are not much better than the originals too... If sonic had more time I believe they would had more unique stuff from Sonic the Fighters on his moveset for sure, the reused animations are mostly replacing move ideas that they don't had time to make or just being filler, I do think his throws and tilts are fine the way they are now, specially now that down tilt got a new angle to be a combo tool
@@kayorego6420 keep in mind there are two reasons why Sonic's moveset is left mostly unchanged. One being Sonic suffers the Ganondorf Situation, once established, the moveset can't be changed too much for veteran players. The other being addressed later in this video, SEGA most likely didn't allow so much change to Sonic.

@Diabeto Kills It was just a joke if anything my hangups with the series is despite me enjoying games like Shadows of Valentia and Three Houses I'm irritated that Intelligent Systems is treating it as the favorite child of their franchises currently while causing every other one they develop to either die like Advance Wars or as someone who's a fan of Paper Mario causing the quality of their other series to suffer, I just wish they'd remember that their name is Intelligent Systems and not Fire Emblem Studios because with the state of every other franchise they develop besides Fire Emblem you wouldn't think that, despite me enjoying some Fire Emblem games even some modern ones I wish Intelligent Systems would remember they're not just that series and franchise and would put the same effort towards the rest of their franchises the same way they do with Fire Emblem because them treating it as the favorite child franchise is causing every other Intelligent Systems developed franchise and series outside of it to suffer.

The best unknown fact is that in Kirby and The Amazing Mirror, 1: Kirby has very expansive movesets, reminicent of smash bros, and 2: Master hand and crazy hand are bosses.

What's funny is the that the only move in Kirby's Smash moveset that was new to the actual Kirby series was his neutral air (which is strange because I could've sworn Kirby does that midair cartwheel in the Kirby games). Everything else was already originated in his games.

Devil’s Third utterly failed outside of Japan. And while older failures that had real time to get redeemed in the public eye are understandable to use still, such a recent total failure was probably just considered not worth it at all. Which may be why those spirits were dropped.

Sakurai's comments on Ridley being too big always seemed odd to me, Olimar wasn't too small to add, and in the original Metroid, Ridley is around the same size as Samus. Glad he made it into Ultimate.

I was looking for this. I had no idea everything melee fans ever wanted for 20 years was so close to being a reality but it was ultimately denied by sakurai himself
I would like to see Brawl's Mario Circuit in any Mario Kart mod.
Fun fact, Sakurai actually told a Japanese player on an online forum exactly how to wavedash, of course without the exact name of the technique, as the name was adopted by fans due to its similarity to the technique of the same name from Marvel vs. Capcom and Tekken.
We could've had a timeline where Melee could've gotten an HD re-release on the Wii.
The draw back would be the lack of the future Smash games and Melee rollback netcode.

My goodness, Smash has really changed these 20 years.
Now Mario himself can fight Ridley, joker, and STEVE from MINECRAFT the literal legend, in wily castle, summoning rathalos to help, and throwing a pokeball to unleash solgaleo, with a Saturn walking around to add icing to the cake. This game is insane.
I think the last dlc fighter will be geno. He may be the most requested character in the series' history and ending the dlc with a something like this would work

As much people will say that Joker's gun is actually a model. This just proves that Sakurai is willing choose go against his own words if it means to get more unique playstyle in Smash.

@@XYGamingRemedyG yeah. It's because in Persona 5, when Joker enters the cognitive world, any enemy who sees the model gun would think it's real, those making the Model Gun act like the real thing on them. And that is kind of a kicker for those who didn't play P5, Sakurai basically pulled the same trick that Joker does.
Coz that kind of censorship mattered back then. Doesn't mean jack now.
