I was there 70-75. It was completely undisciplined at that time. We had a riot and one boy burnt half the school down. The art dept was great and i met some fantastic kids from all walks of life.
I loved this school, its location, enthusiastic teachers and hip culture. I came from a rural high school in New England (CT, USA) for the 1968-9 school year. The O-level English class had a tough but caring teacher. I forget her name. An A-level history class I took was more relaxed with just a few students. It taught me how nice learning could be if you're treated like an adult, although I didn't have to take the big exams. What a nasty let-down when I returned to the states for my final year. Thanks to all at Holland Park, you transformed my life and helped instill the love of learning!
One old boy of the school was FERGUS McCLELLAND, who was there as an eleven, going on twelve year old in March, 1962, when he was chosen from hundreds of other boys to play the title character in the expensive CinemaScope and Eastman Colour adventure “SAMMY GOING SOUTH”, alongside Edward G. Robinson. It was filmed on location in Africa (and at Shepperton Studios) and was chosen for The Royal Film Performance of 1963, held on Monday, March 18th, 1963, at the Odeon, Leicester Square, where he was presented to the Queen Mother and Princess Margaret and was kissed on the cheek by Hayley Mills, one of the guests at the premiere. His school mates at Holland Park didn't believe Fergus was starring in a film, until they saw him in all the publicity. I'm pleased to say that nearly sixty years later (yes, it really is that long ago now), Fergus is still with us and doing very well at the age of 71
Hi All, I spent my time at HPS 83-86. It was a barrel of laughs, loads of dossing about, loads of bunking off and loads of fights. As for education, sadly it did not exist. There seemed to be a load of disruptive pupils who did not want to be there and were causing havoc for all of us including making life hell for teachers. Poor old Dr. Rushworth he was so placid and laid back.
I attended this school from 1963 to 1967, and what you say is absolutely true! bunking off ,disruptive classes and the rest, i knew Dr Rushworth well, his daughter was actually a very fine violinist in the music department there, prior to Dr Rushworth, Alan Clark was the Headmaster then, thats long before they were refered to as head teachers, thats why i use the term headmaster!
I nearly sent my son, Fernando, to Comprehensive School. But then I came into some money and was able to have him privately educated. (You can't muck about when it comes to your own kids)
Mr Sharma Maths, David Watkins, Mr Kruger English, some other teachers, I forgot their names. At the time, the swimming pool was under renovation, it was usable a year later.
Yeh im going to Holland Park as well soon . Mr. Hall is spending 80 million quid on this school and nocking down the building and building a new one ( refurbishing ).
I went to Holland Park from 1969 - 1976 I remember the riot, but I don't remember anyone burning half the school down. Why have they changed the school tie? It used to be navy blue with red and yellow stripes (I think), but now it seems to be sky blue!!! Why?
I attended Holland Park School From 1964 - 1967 My Home room teacher was Mr Rogers. It was a good school but some of the teachers could have done a much better job. I did very well, however, I did a lot of extra work on my own I was in 6th Form 2 and went to University Of London.
I attended this school from 1963-66 - lots of memories.

Me too, 79 to 85!
I was there from 66 to 72 Maine House. I appreciate having been there.
I was there from 1962 until 1966. I work in a school that is just 3 years old, and still not up to the standard of Holland Park School back then.
I nearly sent my son, Fernando, to Comprehensive School. But then I came into some money and was able to have him privately educated. (You can't muck about when it comes to your own kids)

@jayjaypen2 We emailed the school through their website weeks ago but haven't heard back.
Only 268 have viewed this to date. The uploader should email it to the school.
