Everytime I listen to the corale at 2:04 I get ghosebumps.
Eine wunderbare Kombination, vielleicht sogar DIE Kombination heutzutage, gerade für solche Musik. Thielemann ist ein sensibler, wunderbarer und wahrhaft deutsch-romantischer Musiker, der etwas von dunkler Klangqualität versteht. Dazu sind die Berliner Philharmoniker das ideale Orchester. Ich hätte ihn mir als Chefdirigent gewünscht.....
Da kann ich nur zustimmen. Beethoven, Bruckner und Wagner sind seine Komponisten.
Ich denke auch, dass er für Beethoven und Bruckner der richtige Mann ist. Aber das wird der Grund sein, weshalb er nicht Chefdirigent geworden ist. Sein Repertoire ist zu sehr limitiert. Es wäre schade, wenn das Orchester mit dem vermutlich buntesten Farbenspektrum überhaupt im 21. Jahrhundert unter einem Chefdirigenten spielen würde, der vor der Moderne Strawinskis oder Mahlers zurückschreckt. So ist es besser, wenn er als häufiger Gast vorbeikommt ...
Ich würde keinen chefdirigenten wollen, der nur Bruckner, Strauss und Wagner dirigieren kann.
There are some free concerts on their website (The Digital Concert Hall), such as Beethoven's fourth smyphony and Mahler's first symphony. You can also watch a ton of interviews and specials for free. All you need to do is register which doesn't cost anything.

i'm a trumpeter, the choice of trumpets in C is mainly for the timbre which is slighltly different from the Bb ones and more apt to play classical music. transposing shouldn't be a real issue for professional players! ;)

Not a stupid question :)
But its generally because the piece is in a key that would be inconvienient to be playing a transposing instrument in. Example: a Bb clarinet would have difficulty playing in the key of E major because they would have 7 sharps, and an A clarinet would be more comfortable.

A versão está boa, mas com karajan a orquestra soa mais intensa, expressiva e eloquente. É uma pena que não exista o vídeo da histórica gravação de 1970. A versão de Thielemann é uma das melhores da nova geração de maestros, mas o fantasma de Karajan está ainda muito presente. Sinto falta dos fortíssimos realmente pesados. Ainda assim a gravação de Thielemann é indubitavelmente de nível superior. BRAVO!!!!

Saudades de Herbert von Karajan! A orquestra tinha mais segurança. Os antigos trompetistas literalmente desciam o porrete. Agora ficou uma mera sombra do passado. O fantasma de Karajan ainda assombra e muito a philharmonie.

The other Sinfullinies are strange and i dont comprehend them fully.
Thielemann kann ich garnichts abgewinnen. Warum ist der eigentlich dramatische Übergang bei 0:22 so siffig ineinandergestaucht? Bei 0:38 u. entsprechenden Stellen ist die Rhetorik verdreht, die Auflösung wird hier hervorgehoben, nicht die Dissonanz. Wo bleibt ab 0:52 der Dialog mit den Streichern? Was ist das bei 1:58 für eine bekloppte Bewegung?! Es muss sachte aufgelöst werden (nicht mit einem fetten Punkt!), damit der Choral (der leider auch nicht gediegen klingt) sich sinvoll anfügen kann.
Echt gut! Aber bei weitem noch nicht an Chelibidaches version...... Hier stimmt das Orchester aber nicht der Dirigenten. In München unter Chelis Leitung stimmt einfach alles :D
