    Thanks for the video brother! I just got my old 2004 cbr 1000rr back from one of my customers whom I sold it to a couple years back. It stills runs like it did the day I first received it years ago and I’m thinking of doing a refresh on some of the engine parts. I just bought a 2018 zx10R and I can honestly say that it has nothing in that Honda. The power is completely in a different range on this cbr. The Kaw is nice and all but they are night and day when it comes to power bands! I’m a car mechanic by trade but I’m sure with the help of your videos and the knowledge you’re sharing I can just about do anything to this bike. Thank you and have a happy Father’s Day!

    Great video! I have a 2008 Limited Edition that I upgraded to a 2012 engine to avoid the oil consumption issue. Now the 2012 is showing zero compression in one cylinder. I know exactly how it needs to be broken down thanks to this video. Appreciate you! 😎

    • @The.Odyssey
      @The.Odyssey  Год назад +2

      Yes and no... the 08 plus is actually a bit different. All same basic concepts but I believe the cylinders are independent of the cases on 08+ (might be wrong on that) but i do know the transmission comes out when the case is split not out the side like this one. All that being said, I'm betting you have a valve issue on the head of your zero compression cylinder. Unfortunately, I didn't dig into the valves on this engine, so you won't find that here.

    • @oldsklrt1
      @oldsklrt1 Год назад +1

      @The.Odyssey appreciate the advice. Mechanic is handling the tear-down, and I know it won't be exactly the same, but I have an idea of what it entails. Great guess, I believe it is also a valve issue on the head. It's disappointing since I dropped my bike off three weeks ago so I could attend Biketoberfest over the weekend, and she is still in the shop! Why did I originally take her in? Replace the front bearings!!! Can't make this stuff up. 😎

      That's great that I was able to help! Unfortunately I don't have the last videos completed yet to show reassembly. But if you have any questions please let me know. Important points to be sure about is condition of the crank on the journal with the bad bearing and bearing selection. I actually still need to put together content for that as I will be showing the charts in the service manual and how to select proper bearings as there are different sizes. It can be a little confusing. Don't hesitate to reach out if I don't complete the videos before you need them or if you have any questions either way.

      @@The.Odyssey I appreciate your response and help, I am at the moment of choosing the new bearings but the information is a little bit confusing, and i don't know if the crankshaft needs be polished.

    • @The.Odyssey
      @The.Odyssey  2 года назад

      @@fabianrangel9801 I measured the lobe on the crank and could tell it was out of round so i replaced it. I also put the rod back together and measured it to find the same thing. Crank and rod were replaced. There are letters on the case that are half the puzzle on your main bearing selection. Then there are letters on the crank that are the other half of the main bearing and half the puzzle for the rod bearings. Rods also have letters and numbers I believe it was which are the other half of the puzzle for the rod bearings. The service manual has charts to look up which bearings you need with that info. Even after using this I still checked to make sure my oil clearances for the bearings were in spec with plastigauge. Being that I replaced the crank I also did all the bearings (main and rod) If you need the charts let me know and I will find them. I'm assuming you are already working with the service manual, I couldn't find an 07 manual so I worked out of the 04 and had no issues with that. You do want to be sure that the crank and rod are good, if you spun a bearing there is a good chance that there is damage there, especially if it was ran for any amount of time once it developed the knock.

    Awesome bro. Plan to rebuild the engine of my 05 CBR 1000RR to check for spun bearings, might be the culprit for the low oil pressure light going crazy when the engine is already at operating temp. checked the oil level, replaced the oil pressure sensor, checked the oil pump (which was working great), relief valve, harness and everything but still have the red light of death blinking. Thanks man. This will save me a few bucks. Super appreciated your video.

      You will need a new head gasket and the rest is sealer. I recommend motoseal. Have you downloaded the manual? The manual recommends (actually demands) replacing all the crank and connecting rod bolts. Are you replacing both case halves? This may be troublesome to source unless you find a used set. • @The.Odyssey
      @The.Odyssey  Год назад

      No, 2004 - 2007 CBR 1000 engine is mostly unchanged. Different porting / timing and whatnot. Outside of some different physical parts in place of others they are the same. There is probably an appendix service manual made for the later years as things like the head would be different because of the different porting. Bikes generally run in generations of 3 or 4 years between major changes. Sometimes less time, sometimes more.

      That shouldn't cause an issue.
