The bass in this is absolute madness

That drumkit, that bass, those vocals... this mix is just **chef's kiss**
Yeah its crazy good!
Yeahhhh these august and september 91' shows were just top performance from all the 4

Lars with his white drum set. This is what we want
No talent
YESS THE WHITE KIT!!
Yeah i know, but we all know that it will never happend again :(
He has to bring it back, it sound better imo, still, his purple kit is good too, but i miss the snare.
@@HeavyRaiden I don't think he's gotten lazy. It's much harder to play the old stuff in your 50s than in your 20s. Something a lot fans don't seem to take into account. He probably figures he does not need something as big as the white set now.
Those 91 shows where so good , it seems they just had a grate time on stage.
They definitely made a lot of cheddar
*great

@@gabrieladdison Lol!
@@jfb1188 Nice.
Man, Hetfield’s vocals from shows in 91 were incredible. By some point in 92 the touring began to take its toll. It’s impossible for anyone to keep that edge to their vocals when you do the insane amount of shows that they did during this touring cycle.
Besides,they play 3 hours!!!!!
And drinking beer almost every night doesn't do any favours either.
Hetfield is God. (so is Lemmy)
Sadly that's what happens when you blow your voice out while recording an album then go on a world tour playing close to 300 gigs in around 2 years, playing 2 hr or longer sets on most nights without taking time out to let it recover.
@@venurm1286 I sometimes think what if they reduced their shows to 1.5h for example. Maybe his voice would have survived a lot better and we could still enjoy some of that classic barking.
you know that this is truely the beggining of black-album songs live because Kirk is playing Sad But True with a Gibson, and not with a Jackson Flying V
I had the same thought. It looks legitimately weird to see Kirk playing this on a Les Paul
And Jason has a six string! Never seen that before
Not to mention how closely they're following the album version. Even Lars isn't going off and doing a whole different song.
And vocals doesn't sound exhausted.
@@theartistlostboy
Jason sucks socks sucked then and now!
Dang...the 90's were so great. We had no idea how good we had it.
Nah, the 90s started the age of Nu Metal and boy bands. Music almost died off thanks to Grunge
@@bilbobeuli Sad but True. Still it took awhile for things to go bad. By the end of the 90's we still had lots of solid releases and promising new things like Marilyn Manson, Rammstein and the beginnings of black metal and symphonic metal, so there was still hope for the future of music. Now if you listen to current rock charts most of its garbage and what is good is very retro inspired (TPR, Chevelle, Gojira)
There is no hope now.
@@bilbobeuli what's wrong with grunge? Nirvana, Soundgarden, Alice in Chains, Pearl Jam... Good shit man 🤘
@@Danno_88 I just don’t like that kind of genre tbh

Hetfield's voice is unbelievably good at this performance, that's the golden era of Metallica...I was born definitely too late :(

Everyone best be doing neck squats, if for nothing more than preparing to be able to carry the heaviness of 1991 "live" Sad But True....
The passion of Jason is the same of Cliff.
This time you can't say that Kirk sounds awful... His rhythm tone overshadows James' tone which is more scooped.
And this proves that he can play really well 😎
Love how we are being spoiled by the band with these releases!. 🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽🤘🏽
if only we got some new music instead of pop artist covers

My favorite Metallica song ever hands down
It’s weird not seeing Kirk play his Jackson on this song🤘🏻😄
The black album was new at the time and so Kirk didn't use the Jackson yet (or knew) is what I'm assuming here 👀🤘
i was about to ask when he started using that cause i assumed he used it to record the song in studio?
@@TimStatic he at least had it in 89 cause its used in the seattle show
@@VincentiusTheSecond I think he had it around Master of Puppets. Cause that was when jackson were courting them for an endorsement deal.
Hetfield got a king V and Kirk his RR. I remember him talking about in an interview. Basically being allowed to hand pick the fretboard woods etc. Some live videos of him playing it around 85 on fade to black.
In fact you’ll also see Hetfield playing the before mention Jackson V around that time too.
@@ad1170 Ya know i knew about het's king v but i guess my mind just always goes back to justice era for the rr lol. Yea i think you're right tho, kirk did use it during puppets for sure.
I don't think any other band will be able to get that much interaction with just a live stream of a live stream of their 30 y.o songs. That's why Metallica rules the world. They stayed present since they have existed.
Metallica represents all of good in metal. They're literally the gods of Metal. Great performance, I excited for the next videos that will be come.
metallica sure is good but god of metal?? com'on bro
God, that guitar tone, I need it in my life.
I was at this show at age 16.. Amazing stuff

Love the way Jason sounds heavier and louder than the entire band lol
And the backing vocals are spot on "I'm your paaaiin"
Love Rob, and Cliff, but God I miss Jason.
Big Mick mixing the hell outta that bass. Love it.
A great day with a lot of great bands.
Jason with a 6 string bass 🔥🔥 who knows what awesome bass lines we could've got if Jason was still in the band (of if he had more input at that time)

The Bass ❤️❤️
Can't wait to hear this song 5 more times on the album
The demo is soo good cant stop listen
The 90's , when real music died.... Metallica did a great job keeping it alive though!!
Men they probably sit on many Proshots footages in the Vault maybe even some 1984 Footage maybe Cliff's last show ? Who Knows maybe they will release something on their 40th Anniversary which is coming this year :)
I was thinking the same. I mean back when Limewire was big, i had 20gb worth of live Metallica audio. Cant imagine what they have. Wish i still had it.
They already released what they all had in the 2017 Master of puppets box set, which includes cliff's last show in 1986, it is not in a video form because simply there is no footage to show other than photos and the audience audio.
@@JPX64Channel Nobody said that it was everything they maybe left some footage left for other anniversaries
@@totendestro585 nah i dont think so,. Footage from those early eras was little and not so great quality, but footage from TBA and later is so so big, a lot of unreleased pro shots

And GNR would play Copenhagen like a week later... the Danes were lucky people to have witnessed two of the best bands ever in their prime!
They toured together in the states in '92, and both played full shows. Seen them in Detroit at the silverdome. Amazing show

Was lucky to see them live twice in the 90's
Dude, this is like one of the only times where they play the triplet hits on the chorus correctly. This rules.
What do u mean?
@@tun-tunninc.6492 On the chorus of Sad But True, there's a little triplet* hit right before James shouts "Sad but truuuue!"
Ever since around 1991 or so, when they play it live, they drag these hits out into longer eighth notes, and it sounds kind of weird/harder to sing along with. It's supposed to be a relatively quick hit, right into "sad but true!", but instead there's a lot of awkward space.
In this video, they play it much closer to the original.
*might be a triplet, might be a quintuplet thing/someone who isn't as much of an idiot with music theory can probably describe it much better.
@@Hyperchicken When is it in that video?
@@Hyperchicken second beat of the last bar of the chorus is a triplet, then back into 8th notes at the end, gives it a jerky rushed feel that they stopped doing, maybe they just like messing with timings etc but I agree, they've slowed it rather than leaving the originals slight rush to the end of the chorus

God damn lars played tap for tap like the fucking studio. Amazing.
@limelight81 i’m just in love with unabandoned “death to the toms” 80s-90’s Lars. Hit’s those heads hard as fuck.
He can play every song like the studio recording. Almost every. :)
It's fun to switch it up though. A little personality in the live songs goes along way.
The last performance of Sad But True was on August 10, 2020. That's exactly 29 years since this performance of Sad But True happened.
Interesting to see Kirk on any guitar other than the Jackson RR for this one!
Great vocals. The first leg of that tour was the best.

When I first got my guitar for myself recently for my Birthday the first song I wanted to play was Enter Sandman. Before I had a guitar I wanted to play it so bad, I had cut out 6 strings of yarn, and tied it to my toes, and some how learned it.
