Thanks i was looking at one guys youtube hours searching until yours showed up. On the two part step.. Most ppl just show them putting the resin in the rtv. Thanks 100x
Thank you for this video. It is very helpful. I am a new silicone artist making silicone dolls. Do you use ecoflex 20 platinum cure to make this mould? thank you
I used Play doh for the clay, & I bought one of those Lego bases & I used Lego's to make a 2 part mold. I also used a plastic cup, Glued down part in the middle for Then I poured the liquid around it taking shape. You can use plastic cups & legos to make the mold box too.
What type of clay have you used? Or any soft clay could be used? I want to make mold from plaster of paris idol, so should i first coat it with something? or I can directly pour the silicone over it?
Thanks for this tutorial video, is your mold box made from Melamine Board? Do you know if making the mold box from wood is okay with silicone mold making and if it should be raw or treated in some way? Thanks!
My box is made of MDF that was coated with a very thin layer of Vaseline. The silicone shouldn't really stick to wood, but what can happen is that it gets into the grain and all the pores, making it a bit harder to peel away, and leaves a surface that's a little rough. A light coat of Vaseline is a quick and easy way to coat the wood. You can also brush on some shellac or even paint if you don't mind waiting for it to dry.
Hi I love your video - I plan on making a mold from a tin figure to make a cookie or chocolate mold. Is it dangerous? Will the chemicals/led go into the food grade silicone? Have you any tips for me?
No glue, just clamps. You have to make sure the seams are sealed well. I usually spread some petroleum jelly on the walls of the box as a mold release, and that's usually enough for me to keep the seams sealed.
By far the best, simplest , clear, un fussy and easily understandable demo I have found on 2 part moulding . Well done you !
I really like the box frame idea. Quick and effective. Well done.
Fantastic!! Thank you so much. You answered so many of my questions in very little time.
It's fantastic indeed. I am aback by how deftly you are doing.

If you use Platinum silicone type product you can just use it directly on plaster or spray wax in spray .
Will these mold work with cement?

So i can use thin petroleum jelly to release the silicone from the silicone.
I use wax spray or soft wax release agent and apply using small brush
Very useful.thank you.
Do you get seems on the final cast when using a 2 piece silicone mold?
You should show what's next how to cast the mold that you just made.
That was so cool

You can use food grade silicone to cast later chocolate . Most important is what you want to use for making mold and is it clean and safe.
Thanks for posting this.

This is super helpful, thank you! Can play dough or polymer clay be used for the clay part?
I am also curious about this
I've seen other videos using just a normal clay dough..
Was the box held together with any glue or was it purely relying on the clamps?
No glue, just clamps. You have to make sure the seams are sealed well. I usually spread some petroleum jelly on the walls of the box as a mold release, and that's usually enough for me to keep the seams sealed.
