VEGGIMITE as you noticed people think it is chocolate at first. It was first introduced to me by my kids dad his adoptive Dad is from Australia and they would have Vegemite always at their house especially on the breakfast table. First thing you do is make toast put butter on toazt ket it melt then spread a thin layer of vegemite on top. Especially if it is your first time. Or put it little on you finger to taste it. Its very popular in Australia. I have it several times in almost 20 years now. I have a jar of it in my cupboard right now. Its salty and bitter taste. But with butter and toast its not bad. You get use to it. And its actually healthy. It has B Vitamins in it. I love the Reactions though. My first time I was like what the is this? I think it is a staple on Australia tables in the mornings.
Should have done the "Tim Tam Slam" with a coffee from Tim's!!! Bite off two opposite corners of the Tim Tam and then suck coffee through it like a straw. When the Tim Tam starts to melt from the heat of the coffee, pop the whole thing in your mouth.
@@JosephD it's so good! I saw an Aussie show how to do it on their RUclips channel and have been doing it ever since. Well... Whenever I treat myself to Tim Tams anyway...
Good news -- TimTams are available in Canada in most grocery stores! I live in a small town and my local Coop carries them. They are addictive. My daughter discovered them when doing a study term in Australia. Vegemite is used as a spread (like jam) on toast but is definitely an acquired taste in Australia. Similar to Marmite in the UK. Not a thing in Canada for sure.
I am sure others have said this but you need to try a TimTam Slam. Bite off opposite corners of the cookie, dip one corner in coffee, and use the cookie as a straw to pull coffee into the cookie then pop the whole thing in your mouth. It melts and is wonderful!
I wait for these with such patience. And as always you deliver another awesome video, I am looking forward to the first meet post covid restriction will you meet half way on Rainbow Bridge :)
We were told that Vegemite and Marmite (the UK equivalent) are to be sparingly added to toast and butter....but it didn't help at all! haha...Coming from the land of maple syrup, Vegemite just doesn't make sense. 😂
Yep I've had Marmite Walker's crisps (chips, I'm in Halifax) and it was tasty. I've read that the key is to very thinly spread on toast, but I bought some for a sort of flavouring, so Joseph, you're correct, it can certainly be used for that. I just haven't gotten around to doing it yet... it's on the to-do list whenever I attempt dehydrating and cooking canned jackfruit for a chicken substitute... just for fun. The RUclipsr SauceStache gave me that idea.
Nice to see the Canadian Flag in back of you Joseph. Fun video and thanks to the Australian who sent you the food stuff. Once again, lots of fun and smiles watching you both compete. Will be glad when you cross the borders and are together once again! Thanks for the fun.
Canadian here - my mom's and Aussie though. She tried to get my brother and i to like Vegemite... my brother succumbed to the darkness but i rightly refused. Why people would willingly eat it is beyond me!
In 1992, i was listening to CJAD 800 AM, in Montreal and the guy on the radio was comparing the U.S and Canada, in the U.S we have Johnny Cash, Donald Trump and Bob Hope, in Canada, they have no Cash, Trump or Hope.
That was fun! 😁Thing is, now I want a Whatchamacallit but I'm in Canada 🍁 🇨🇦 😕. And yes, I do recall seeing Timtam in stores. Actually I think it was in either Dollar Tree or Dollarama.
Doesn’t matter if you’re in the US, Canada or Australia, the first 1,000 people to use this link will get a 1 month free trial of Skillshare: skl.sh/josephdebenedictis09211… it does matter though when you want a snack 😅
Loved this video. Coffee crisp can be found in some grocery stores here in Chicago. I bought Timtams in Walmart and vegimite at World Market which specializes in international foods. Of those Timtams are my favorite. They are the best from Australia I have tried and Vegimite is the worst. To me, Vegimite tastes like beer left out in the hot sun with a lot of salt added.
Im Canadian Iranian and I LOVE coffee flavoured snacks and desserts. Coffee Crisp bar smells great of coffee and is a good tasting candy bar but has ZERO coffee flavour in my opinion LOL. Ive tried it a few times in my taste testing videos and it always fails me LOL. Have you tried Coffee Crisp ?? Ive tried TIM TAM varieties in my taste testing videos and they are just too delicious !!!! I cant even imagine trying VEGIMITE on my channel to get more views LOL.
Tam Tams you can get in 🇨🇦. Have seen them at Sobeys, Loblaws Superstore. They’re very good! Love the dark chocolate ones. Vegemite is for toast, pastry filling etc. Have not tried it and from the looks of anyone I’ve seen try it, looks like I wouldn’t want to. Sorry 🇦🇺. Everything else looked cool to try!! Entertaining and cool vid!! 😃😎
Fun video. I really enjoy when you do these. I've been able to find the Carmel KitKat version you had here in Canada. Not all stores have it but some have been bringing it in lately. While watching I was eating my favorite bar (Crunchie), which looks to be similar to that Violet Crumble bar you showed, but ours are definitely not soft.
I live in canada and my the grocery stores sell tim tams and the kit kat chunky caramel for quite a long time now,but I know the tim tams sell really well because they sell out fast
Joseph-I’m not sure if you are into Funyuns, but they are available in Canada now. I’ve seen them at Sobeys and Walmart. I was shocked when I saw them in the store and shouted out “Since when do we have Funyuns in Canada?”….I was a little excited :)
I saw them at the Giant Tiger and and squeeled “Funyuns” hahahaha -now we need Whatchamacallits (I fell in love with them back in the 80’s and I’m so happy Joseph is promoting them, maybe they will come here soon) LOL !
Sad I love the dairy milk jellybean pop rock chocolate bar. They had it briefly in Canada and it was called a celebration bar :D I don't know if they only had it to celebrate something for a while or they were seeing if it sold over here then discontinued it, but I loved it T-T
Your Coffee Crisp is really good, but I think I enjoy the whatchamacallit more. My favorite American candy bar is the Baby Ruth. It's basically a "cleaner" tasting Snickers. If you could only have one brand of candy bar for the rest of your life which would you choose.
When the movie "Australia" came out 10+ years ago, Pepperidge Farm🇺🇸 introduced "Tim Tams" to the U.S. market. Same idea as real ones made by Arnott's🇦🇺, but ... nowhere near as good as authentic TimTams! We've been able to buy 3-4 types of Arnott's TimTams in Canada (imported from Oz) for about 12 years: original, dark chocolate, and caramel. There are many more flavours available in Oz; specialty grocery stores and candy stores in Canada sometimes offer them.
Bahahaha! “What’s vegemite? I dunno, let’s lick it out of the packet like jelly”. NooooOOOOoooo! It’s been over 30 years since my dad was “try this, it’s great” and I still remember what it tastes like.
Regarding the cherry thing: It kind of makes sense. Most almond flavored things using almond extract kind of end up tasting like cherry. Ok, have got an awesome for you guys, my best idea yet and I'm surprised it hasn't been thought of yet: You guys need to do video on American vs Canadian Beer. It'd be epic. First you could go with common domestic, see if there are any differences with brands available in both places, then you could do a deep dive into craft beer and their respective equivalent from both countries. Has potential, I think.
Tin-Tams & Vegimite is on the shelf in Zehrs! Vegimite is a yeast based product, if I remember correctly, from the brewing process. Seen it on a BBC program. 👍👍
That was super nice of the person to send all the goodies from Australia! Who felt ill after trying all that? Great accent Jason! Love these videos! Take care 🇨🇦 ❤️
Ive had a couple of those wonderful Aussie snacks in my taste testing snacks , I wish I could try them all in one of my videos LOL> It was super nice of this person to send two of everything !!!
9:30-9:50 had me cracking up so bad! Joe, the way you frantically run around. 😂😂😂 Also, at the end: Jason: “Am I gonna be okay?” Joe: “Nope.” You guys are great!!
I've seen TimTams at Superstore before. Supposedly the best way to consume them is to use them like a straw to draw Tim Hortons coffee through it and then eat it. I think Vegemite is something like a fermented yeast similar to Marmite which can be found in Canada. I believe you're supposed to spread it onto toast, but I think it's also used in cooking Now excuse me, I'm going to get a Coffee Crisp
Loved your video! So fun and entertaining. LMAO when you tried the Vegemite! Vitamins!! Lol surprised you've never heard of it before... you spread it thinly on toast. Great comparisons.

Tim Tams are delicious and can be found in a few specialty stores in the US. I think they're popular for dunking in drinks. Whatever, they're good. Most of the rest of the offerings just didn't appeal to me, but there must be good stuff down there. Let's hope.
Lol them tasting vegemite cracked me up. I grew up with British food so I really like marmite( similar to vegemite). It’s an acquired taste for sure. I spread it on toast, The key is to start with a very thin layer until you acquire the taste. As a kid I thought it was the most vile stuff lol. Funny what you can acquire tastes to.
I saw that Yowie chocolate egg on the table the whole time and wanted to see what plastic animal was inside! Guessing you skipped it cause you only had one. For some strange reason they only sell these Yowie eggs in Australia and… the United States. My wife and I do a live food tasting show like this and every week we open one of these and add the plastic animal to the desk, name it, and introduce them all at the start of the show. So far there’s 20 names we have to remember.
Kudos to Jason's wife for running to the store to get him another Whatchamacallit because he has no self control and ate his before shooting the video 😂 I'm surprised neither of you saw others try vegemite to have an idea of how it would taste. I knew you guys would react like that just from how I saw others try it for the first time and it was pretty much the same reaction 😂. I LOVE TimTams. They sell two varieties at my local store and we get a few things that are from other countries in some of the stores near when I live. It's cool to try them out. Have you thought of having Jason get a PO box to get packages from US subscribers to the channel and he can bring them to Canada to try? (as long as the border isn't closed) It would be easier to ship since we wouldn't have to list every little thing in the box, weight and cost. It's a whole process to ship anything out of the country.
