You are helping me cope with my mothers death. I've been watching you for ages Paul but I am very recently bereaved. Your videos take my mind away from my current reality and let me relax and feel calm. Whether its Watching you try out products, talk about them, showing us Mrs H's flower arranging or telling us all what's for dinner, I simply love your format and way you are. Never change mate. I felt compelled to tell you this because I felt its important that you know that your an outlet that is helping me cope through the most difficult time in my life. Thank you for doing what you do.
+Mark Creighton I am very sorry to hear about the passing of your Mother Mark, I lost my Father in 2013 quite suddenly, so I know what your going through, and if these videos help you in any way deal with it, then I am thankfull, all the best Mark, take care....Paul.
my wife and kids surprised me this morning with the soap and mug...for father's day. ....my son had mentionned to my wife "Daddy always watches a guy shave using old spice on utube" ....thank you again Paul
thank you Paul, I also recently acquired my grandfathers post WW2 1947 gillette super speed ( no notch) razor, I could not believe my eyes.....very special shave coming up.
You are by far the most happiest face shaving guy on RUclips! My father is 93 and still has a old bottle of Oldspice after shave from the 80s and two of them old vintage butterfly razors. Well he probably had them from before the 80s. Awesome video by the way.
Paul, Paul, Paul, Mr. PaulHFilms. Best shave ever! Your infectious enthusiasm allowed me to imagine the Old Spice aromas filling my nostrils. I've just got back from a holiday in Queensland after driving for 8 hours. I had a gorgeous shave with a brand new Dovo 6/8" Bismark (a present from a good old friend), had dinner, grabbed a cold beer and sat down to watch the weekend shave, and you pull out the Old Spice! Perfect end to the weekend. Thanks heaps Paul, thanks heaps.
Anyone of a certain age remembers Old Spice with great fondness. It was the scent of our fathers and grandfathers. To see you shaving with that Old Spice soap was a joy to behold. We joined you in your exuberance. We felt the same flood of memories when you became temporarily overwhelmed by the experience. What you felt is what we felt. We remember. This 'shave down memory lane' has truly been one of your best ever. From all the men in the world for which Old Spice is a part of their lives, we thank you.
What a thrill. One of my earliest memories of my dad shaving is with an Old Spice mug & brush. I recently bought him an Italian soap & Omega brush to use and he's enjoying it. That mug sure brings back memories of the seventies!
nice use of foliage Mrs H your old spice soap was around when i first started shaving and that was me dads fav soap and aftershave, you just proved that our soaps will last for years i have just got me hands on a ever ready gold G- bar, so that's me in a happy place
I used to have an Old Spice Mug and soap in the early nineties had a burglary and someone made off with much of my gear. It is nice to see an old mug of it being used, thanks.
Wow! Great shave & walk through history. Hope you & Mrs. H have a lovely Sunday. I still use old spice aftershave with my "spice" scented soaps, oh the memories...
Oh Boy ! I wondered how long you'd last before being unable to wait ! Haha ! I was Excited ! Use by dates didn't begin until somewhere between 76/79 I think . I remember went there weren't any at all . I think I was around 18 , worked in a Grocery Store from 15-18(at the end a few just stated , I guess a law was passed) , after HS I did my tour of the factory for a few years , Rubber Mill/and Plastics (they' were just starting to get big). I love the Gillette Slim , I'm looking for one . Old Slice was my Granddad's One and Only Soap and AS , mine , too for years , and came back to constantly over the years . Sad it's not now what it once was , it was nice , Really Nice . Sweet Shave Paul ! Lovely Flower arrangement Mrs H , you're an artist . That Shave was another memory lane Shave . Thank you Paul , Just Great !!! ... and the mug , the soap , the razor ... dreamy , and AS . You'd think they'd bring all of it back , Classic Nostalgia ... (as the Brits say , a Proper Shave) , Special .
+Michael Ray Thank you Michael, yes use by dates didn't affect this soap..lol..fantastic, and the scent was amazing, good to bring memories alive too....all the best....Paul.
Classy video here mate. I've taken quite a liking to Old Spice anything recently. Bought a bottle out of nostalgia because my father used the after shave. I've been online researching everything Shulton old school Old Spice, and what a time I'm having learning.
Watching you use Old Spice is very satisfying. I can only imagine what it was like to actually shave with it. Thanks for sharing. Happy Sunday, have a good week.
Fantastic video Paul. Both my Dad and my Grandfather used Old Spice and I know what you mean about the scent - takes me right back to being a kid some 45 years ago.
I was recently fortunate enough to purchase 9 pucks of it from a yard sale for 8 american dollars( not sure how much that would be in british currency). Now im trying to purchase a bottle of the shulton old spice after shave. I am pleased to say i love it. Old Spice is def my favorite by far. Thank you for the wonderful videos and god bless you Paul and best wishes to you and your family from across the pond
Quality video as always Paul! Love the Dad memories, really takes you back. For me the aftershave Mandate takes me right back to my Dad after having his shower and shave. I have a bottle in my cupboard and it's now one of my favourites. Take care Paul and see you Wednesday 👍👍
Hi Paul, you finally did it, FANTASTIC shave, thanks! I told you that this soap is THE classic performer, didn't I? But you really don't have to soak the soap before, not doing that will vastly preserve the puck. And you should press the puck down the last inch straight to the bottom of the mug, otherwise you will get a reservoir of gunky water below the puck. But push the puck very carefully down or grate it a bit first, because your mug could break, if you press too hard. Enjoy this great piece of shaving history. Hope to see this soap again in action soon! And finally, do yourself a favor and buy a bottle of the real original Shulton OS after shave. Look for a bottle with the old sailing ship (ships Grand Turk or Recovery) instead of the small sailing yacht, and the bottle should have a grey stopper instead of a white one to be sure. Have a great sunday, Dan. Forgot to mention, Paul, Astra's are actually made by Gillette in Russia, so they match the razor perfectly! ;-) BR, Dan.
+Don Dan Glad you liked it Dan, best soap I have used, after all those years, and lathered up in seconds..amazing and the scent...wow..thanks for the info too, much appreciated...all the best...Paul.
paul another great vid using a classic soap. only wish I could find that gret soap it takes me right back to my father's shaving as a youngster this is the type of gift I would have bought for father's day
Thanks for sharing your treasure. I'm glad you have something special you will be able to revisit from time-to-time. Old Spice is my absolute favorite scent. I use the modern Proctor and Gamble aftershave more than any other I own. There is a wonderful American artisan, Soap Commander, who makes a soap and aftershave balm called "Endurance." It is their attempt to mimic the original Old Spice scent, and it is wonderful. If you should ever get a chance to try some, I highly encourage you to do so.
Great shave Paul, my friend gave me an original old spice soap for Xmas... A great soap and it reminds me of my grandfather. In his house the bathroom always smelt of old spice... my nan described my granddad as a walking tribute to old spice and brill cream lol
Great One Paul! Going to use Old Spice shave cream with the AS. Very interested in getting a vintage Old Spice Vintage soap now. Once again great shave!
Absolutely Awesome- I have a couple of the Old Spice mugs but after your review I will be on the hunt for the soap. Love the Astra Greens and the Gillette Slim Adjustable. Cheers!! Couple of Pints! Thanks Paul
Thank you for sharing your your Old Spice shave. I really enjoyed it. Your video proves that sometimes the old ways are the best. I'll have to find some for my birthday gift to myself. Haha. Thank you again.
Just an amazing shave. Could feel the emotion in that one. We all have that scent that brings us back to a perfect moment. Glad you got to experience hours again. Cheers
Hi Paul, just wanted to say that I've watched quite a few of your videos now and I'm really enjoying them. As a newbie to DE shaving (two shaves in) I'm also finding your tips very helpful Best wishes Sam
Hi Paul, great video as always . I recently inherited an old spice mug (with red lid and shoulton engraved) and original soap inside. I am not one for expiry dates either and look forward to using it. I've learnt a lot from your tutorials and my shaves have certainly benefitted. Keep up the good work. Cheers!
really enjoyed watching you stroll down through memory lane Paul. I said I was going to have my coffee with Paul this morning as I do every Sunday morning. my wife is always asking who Paul is haha! planning a trip to the UK in the next year, I will be expecting some lamb on my arrival! Love the old spice, when I can afford it I will pick some up.
looks like an amazing performer. I'm 30 turning 31 this year and I LOVE old spice. I have a bottle and I pair it with my Col conk Bay rum soap or my TOBS Sandalwood. nice spicy scent and nice warming sensation that makes my skin feel great. Not to mention I get many compliments from the ladies on how great I look and how great I smell with either combination on my face :) Ps nice brush choice. Neat trick for travel pop off that blue bit it's hollow and you can store a bit of shaving cream in there if you're going to be away for say a night and want a shave when you wake up where you are in the morning
love this video. wish I had one of those vintage razor to go with my old Spice as tribute to my dad. keep up the good work Paul really look forward to watching your videos every Wednesday and sunday morning. so I save as I finish watching. lol
Sir I'm watching your videos since 4years ago i guess, you are absolutely amazing and i get such a positive energy after watching your videos. Respect from Iran to you sir, keep up the great work as always
how u doing Paul Mick from Glasgow here nice to see u going down memory lane looks like it means a lot to you. my smell from the past which brings the memories back is Armanis I know they do a shaving soap which is on the wish list .all the best to u and Mrs h (slangevar) nearly forgot to mention watched a shave from Joe in queens the big man's looking we'll noticed he had his fav t shirt on what ever happend to your shaving shirt not seen it in a while
I don't understand why they don't make this soap anymore. Could make them a fortune, think of all the people wanting to buy these Old Spice shaving soaps..
Great video I have two pucks of the vintage old spice soap that soap I think is tallow based and it is the finest soap I have in my collection i think I spent like 50 bucks on eBay for it but worth it the slim is my favorite too great job!!
Another really good video with a trip down memory lane. I liked your themed videos Paul, this one especially and the Lemon one you did recently, I also recall you did I a classic one too. Would you be able to do more themed videos for example, orange citrus video and maybe most expensive/least expensive. One could be an indulgent one, the other a good but least expensive one. Just a thought, keep the videos coming. All the best
I´m 39 and oh boy do i remember Old Spice, my grandfather used it he died in the early 2000´s age 83 still remember the smell, i´m even considering buying the after shave just to remember him even more
Hi Paul, you videos are awesome well done... I've been watching your videos and have learned quite a lot. I got into wet shaving a couple of months ago and I'll tell ya it's been better on the face. The cartridge razors were giving my face horrible irritations. So this way of shaving has defiantly done the trick. Reminds me of my dad when I was a kid. Made my first wet shaving video a few days ago gave you a shout out..
Hi Paul, good job well done, for most of us it would be a dream to shave with a mug of old spice original, and to do it of with a classic razor is pure class, just like generations before, and one of the reasons why most of us are in the business of DE shaving I'm sure. You'll be up for an Oscar or a Grammy at this rate lol. Owen in NZ
Absolutely awesome! I have a mug with the red plastic cover and the original soap. I'm going to try it out now. I also have a Colgate puck still the original box. I remember using both back the seventies. Oh, and I have a NOS Old spice cologne and the balm.
That was a favorite of my father. I must say I would have gotten some criticism for putting that much on my brush but we must give you a bit of license to luxuriate in that wonderful scent.
Great Job Paul. I am becoming a fan of your videos. Old Spice reminds me of my father too and still holds a great scent after all of these years. I use the deodorant, but not the shaving soap. I am tempted to get some now!
Hi Paul thanks for the smiling trip down memory lane, you're a lovely guy and the enthusiasm you bring to your videos is infectious. As they say quality never goes out of fashion. But stick with the shaving and resist the urge to try out your old Levis or Wrangles jeans, that might be a bridge too far. Best wishes to you.
Great shave Paul! I've always wanted to get one of those Old Spice soaps, but have been hesitant because of the age of the soap. I'm sure eBay prices will go up now!
Haha nice, glad to see you finally bust out the good stuff. Hope you enjoyed your shave. Use it sparingly. Won't be going down to the store to be picking up another tub of that.
Paul, I always enjoy your shaving videos. But this one has been the best! Thank you for taking us through the memory lane! After you unveiled your mystery soap. I went online and I got me one myself. But mine looks a little bit smaller. Do you mind telling us where did you get yours? Keep up with the great shaves!!
Nice video Paul! Does that lovely soap smells exactly like the old spice aftershave that we all know? By the way it's such a same that they don't produce that soap anymore. ...
Great video as always Paul. What year is your Gillette Slim Adjustable? It looks in perfect condition. How did you come about getting that razor? And yes, the old ways are still the best way!!!
+SamSpackle45 The razor was a gift from a viewer of the videos, I got a collection of "vintage" razors, very lucky, the date I can't remember at this moment.....thanks..Paul.
Great video Paul! The smell of Old Spice reminds me of my Grandfather and my Father. I saw an Old Spice shaving mug at the antique mall in town, but I can only find the William's mug shaving soap. Is it your opinion that the new version of Old Spice aftershave is not worth the money? Does it smell like the original version? I might be able to buy this original version...New Old Stock..I hope. Thank you for this video.
Great soap, the new aftershave has the scent, but the original seems stronger and you can just tell it is the original....if that makes sense.....all the best and thanks Tony.
Thanks for the great memories Paul. my dad had an Old Spice shaving mug just like that & a shave brush that went with it. I remember he held on to it after he converted to canned aerosol shave cream. I also remember the Old Spice shave soap too. it's too bad they both don't exist. Where did you find the shave mug & soap ? I really would like to see Old Spice bring back the shave soap & mug. ì'm glad the soap still lathers for you after so many years.
+Mark Vehar The seller I got the soap, has no more for sale unfortunatley, sold out. I will keep an eye out for more, but you can buy this soap on eBay, Amazon etc....but the prices are very expensive.
+PaulHFilms Phoenix has a shave soap they claim is inspired and as close as possible to the original. phoenixartisanaccoutrements.com/products/cold-spices-3-0-artisan-shave-soap-lightly-mentholated
Great SHAVE Paul. Lucky to own the original. BTW Got that Benjamins Menthol Bay Rum ASL on the way so thanks for the info. You do like your Lamb Paul hope it was nice???

thank you Paul, I also recently acquired my grandfathers post WW2 1947 gillette super speed ( no notch) razor, I could not believe my eyes.....very special shave coming up.
that's awesome. Has it lost any scent?
at first the scent was very light, but after using and removing layers off the soap, the scent has has become more profound
ok, good to know, I just ordered a mug off of ebay and I've heard some people say that it's lost scent

I used to have an Old Spice Mug and soap in the early nineties had a burglary and someone made off with much of my gear. It is nice to see an old mug of it being used, thanks.
+Vernon Deaglepuppy Sorry to hear about your burglary, that's terrible.
Wow! Great shave & walk through history. Hope you & Mrs. H have a lovely Sunday. I still use old spice aftershave with my "spice" scented soaps, oh the memories...
You have been afforded a unique opportunity to do something no man has done in 40+ years ! WELL DONE THAT MAN !
Great video, Paul. Your enthusiasm for the Old Spice is infectious. I may never get to try it myself, but it's good just to see it in your video.
My Daughter got me a bottle of Old Spice (The current formula) for Valentines Day.
The scent immediately took me back to my late Dad as well.

Watching you use Old Spice is very satisfying. I can only imagine what it was like to actually shave with it. Thanks for sharing. Happy Sunday, have a good week.
Good Morning Mr. Paul, I use Old Spice too and every time when I use remindes me my grandfather, amazing.

+Don Dan Glad you liked it Dan, best soap I have used, after all those years, and lathered up in seconds..amazing and the scent...wow..thanks for the info too, much appreciated...all the best...Paul.
Brilliant. Old spice reminds me of my old man too when he would shave at the kitchen sink!
He properly had to let the women use the bathroom and we know how long that can take and getting mad- he was a practical man.
Great video ... Very nostalgic ... They need to bring that soap back ... It would sell like crazy ...
paul another great vid using a classic soap. only wish I could find that gret soap it takes me right back to my father's shaving as a youngster this is the type of gift I would have bought for father's day
Paul, wonderful classic shave. Enjoy your sunday.

I´m 39 and oh boy do i remember Old Spice, my grandfather used it he died in the early 2000´s age 83 still remember the smell, i´m even considering buying the after shave just to remember him even more
Now your talking, it's called good old memory lane....yep buy it, wear it and your memories will flood back.....all the best....Paul.
okay will do then next time i´m shopping indeed a walk down memory lane....thanks Peter
+N8t Thank you very much, it was a good video too....Paul.
Owen in NZ
+Owen Parratt Thanks very much Owen.
Fantastic Shaving Paul! Razor wonderful, I was lucky enough to buy it and I was excited !!!
Paul you need to revisit this shave, Old Spice great soap .
Come on Paul it's been awhile :)
It will be very soon, it's the season for using it :-)
Hi Paul! OldSpice is cool !!!!
Greetings from Poland!
Absolutely awesome! I have a mug with the red plastic cover and the original soap. I'm going to try it out now. I also have a Colgate puck still the original box. I remember using both back the seventies. Oh, and I have a NOS Old spice cologne and the balm.
+Donald Navygoat23 Fantastic Donald, worth using, amazing performance after all those years...all the best and hope you enjoy it....Paul.
Shave came pit awesome!
Great Shave , great soap great stories .......👍👍👍👍
Awesome shave bro!
Great video. Looking forward to trying it.
Good on Ya Paul !
Damn!! Now I want some Old Spice. I couldn't smell it, but I could! Great video!
Lol....many thanks...great stuff.
+rurimino hey! nothing wrong with double denim mate...
I heard you should not ajust the razer with the doors closed ?
Great shave Paul! I've always wanted to get one of those Old Spice soaps, but have been hesitant because of the age of the soap. I'm sure eBay prices will go up now!
+Mike Yasmer Thanks Mike, eBay prices are quite expensive, great soap though...all the best....Paul.
Cheers Paul!
Haha nice, glad to see you finally bust out the good stuff. Hope you enjoyed your shave. Use it sparingly. Won't be going down to the store to be picking up another tub of that.
The mark of a man. Well done Paul
+Elias Ibero I got mine from a seller on eBay, but they have sold out apparentley.
WOW great soap Paul sad that the company doesn't want to release a new batch of this soap they would have some great sales numbers .
they don't have the rights, sadly
Nice video Paul! Does that lovely soap smells exactly like the old spice aftershave that we all know? By the way it's such a same that they don't produce that soap anymore. ...
+akis had It does indeed, but quite stronger in a way, fantastic. It is a shame it's not made today.
Paul were did You get Old Spice shaveing soap.Thanks.
+S&Tguy I got it on eBay of all places, but the seller has no more for sale unfortunatley, but will keep an eye out.
Paul, is there a reason you don't rinse after each pass?
+Ian peniket I have never found the need to rinse between passes, no reason otherwise....Paul.
I would buy and use this soap, only if they still made it. They should release the rights, to continue making this traditional shaving soap.
Yes, I total understand what you are saying and it makes perfect sense to me. Thanks.
Everyone email Old Spice and demand they bring the shaving soap back.
That would be great wouldn't it. :-)
Good idea. 👍
It's fantastic. You give ma a lot of envy. :)
old spice does smell great!
+Casey Dietz I agree very much, thanks ...Paul.
Great SHAVE Paul. Lucky to own the original.
