You obviously love the hobby/collection. Frankly I see more than a couple of items there I unashamedly covet. However, I would like to offer a counterpoint to new shavers that might feel daunted by the volume of items on display: you don't need much at all to enjoy this way of shaving. A single tub of soap/cream will last SEVERAL months. I would say if you get more than two or three per year ($8-15 ea) you will accumulate it faster than you can use it. A single blade will effortlessly last 4 or more shaves, a 100 pack will easily last over a year ($10-15/100). A quality razor will last a lifetime if you just wipe it down after each use, ($30-50). A modern synthetic brush with taklon fiber like plissoft etc will last for several years ($15-25), and is almost maintenance free (just dry it). Use any old bowl to lather, ridges and scuttles are not necessary. You can get much better quality shaves after a brief learning curve, and easily recoup the upfront costs in a couple months over cartridges. Then you can have fantastic
Tim Dexter having only been doing this for 2 months I can agree with you on this. I am already enjoying this style of shaving. I have only 4 blade types but already feel I’ve found a fave. I have around 7 soaps and think some will be standards for a daily shave and some will be kept for weekend shaves only. I have one bowl and don’t really see the need for another. I have a merkur 34c and that is it. On the razor I may in future try an adjustable or a more aggressive one as would like more blade feel. Maybe the collector in me will come out but at the moment I can survive on this alone.
@@VernalobosI have the 38c, basically just the long handled 34c. Excellent choice, wish it was my first razor, may just be my last. I converted on my 40th bday, wish I saw the light earlier. I have 2 brushes, and one former soup bowl. Astra greens work for me. I will admit to having a few more than 7 soaps, but not many, I now limit myself to a new one on my bday and xmas. A bottle of Thayers and an alum block rounds out my den. Never been an aftershave guy, the soaps are enough scent for me. Sounds like you are well on your way, welcome to the club!
oh I have aroung 56 soaps , I know it is to much , but you have to enjoy life , when you are died than you cannot take your money with you hehe, greetings robert, and totally agreed with you one tub is enough
the very positive side of wet shaving is that my wife told me that each morning I am happy , I am not anymore saying that life is hard and also that she does not understand why I have always a smile on my face , and it is like that , since I am wet shaving I feel very happy , also the persons like paul etc who are making these great videos of shaving , as you can see , these persons are always happy and smiling , can it be that wet shaving is changing our lifes in a happy way, greeting robert , also it is so wonderful to choose every day another soap and another brush and razor , the scents are making my day so great
oh also my wife told me that I can buy more soaps , also thanks to paul, therefor I have the vids of the shave dens in my computer , so each time there is a package from dhl on my door, I can justify what i bought haha
WOW!!! Amazing collection, I almost got a heart attack after seeing all the razors. Maybe for next year, keep a list of the new things you get this year and only show those, then refer to this one for the rest of the stuff ;)
Wow! Fantastic. Well done video. What an emotional roller coaster ride! Went from: Man!! Look at all the stuff! I want it all! To: OMG! That’s overkill! To: his wife is very understanding. Then laughter at how much stuff you have. 😀. Thanks for sharing.
Great video Paul. I thought somebody said there was a shortage of Palmolive sticks, I can see why now, you've got most of them. That said Paul, it's good that you use many of these products and give your opinion of them and many of them are available and affordable to the ordinary working man. Keep it up my friend and ill keep enjoying your videos.
awesome collection .. if only I had one 100th of that choice where I am now .. but I did notice each and every one of the products I'm currently using here at home now. I'd be like a kid in a sweet shop if I saw all this at once. If I showed this to my wife she'd think you were 'radio rental' .. she already thinks I'm crazy and I don't have much at all half a dozen soaps/creams, two razors and 4 kinds of blades .. Oh woe is me. loved to seeing a real collection, gives me something to aspire to.
One could shave every day over several lifetimes and still not get through all that product! I did show this to my wife, stating that I could be so much worse off in my own shaving addiction. Love your videos and I will live vicariously through them!! Really enjoyed the video Paul.
That is a very nice collection. Never seen that many Palmolive shaving cream boxes in ones collection. I might try some Palmolive shave cream soon. Always good to be able to clean and or rearrange ones collection I have done that numerous times over the years.
I have been striving and learning to be a bit more humble in my life these days. This video just taught me how humble I really am. I bow before you. Great collection.
I was a bit reluctant when you said you would just pan the camera but now I see why 😅. I think you got me inspired towards a "couple" more products. Thanks Paul! 💈👍
The one thing it missed - although it may have been impossible, was a picture of everything at once so you can understand the scale of the collection better!
Wow! This is almost a legacy! Reminds me of my record collecting and camera haul, both of which came to a halt. As long as you enjoy it, then keep on collecting. A brave video to put out.
If I had to choose one line of razors, I'd choose Parker. I think they offer great performance/cost value with plenty of choices. If I had to choose one line of shaving consumables, it would definitely be Proraso. If I could have only 1 basic set (keeping money and travel in mind), it would be: Parker A1R, Voskhod blade, Omega Mixed Midget brush, collapsible lather bowl, Arko soap, and Skin Bracer aftershave. If a balm were included, it would be the Aqua Velva 5 in 1 or Dollar Tree After Shave (brand in the tube).
That makes me feel better about what I've accumulated over the last 6 or 7 months. But how many Palmolive sticks does one man need? Haha, Impressive collection there Mr H. I need to keep buying I think. Looking forward to the midweek shave 👍🏻
You can do a film with name SHAVING FOREVER and to start shaving until all these products to be finished, great stuff.WOWOWOWOW.(I SAW MY LEMON COLOGNE THAT I SEND IT YOU)😂
thank you for taking the time and effort of giving us a tour. I enjoyed that. Any meet ups every one bring along Palmolive. Same here my local Tesco stop selling it lol. Question the star of the show Paul tour, Paul or Palmolive stash ......
DAMN PAUL!!! Very nice collection..you’ve given me the perfect excuse for a divorce lol...I don’t even have a fraction of that and she says I have too much “shaving crap” haha!! That’s a lot of Palmolive and arkco stuff.. haven’t developed a problem have we?? thx Paul for the extra effort for this video, that was a lot of work and I’m very jealous..have a great week
I'm going to show this to my wife so she realises that compared to you I ain't that bad!! Great collection, Paul thanks for sharing your passion for wet shaving with us all.
I've recently finished re-watching your '17 shave den tour, now it's time once again to re-visit this episode while I polish & oil my vintage Gillette collection. What a fun and useful hobby.
Thank you for showing your den. You are so generous of you're time. Keep on doing the videos. I really appreciate them. But Paul..... How much Palmolive soaps do you think you will need in this lifetime !!! ? Cheers
I am humbled by your collection...lol..and knowing that a lot were gifts ..is amazing...If it's not to much to ask and you won't get in trouble...what % were gifts as opposed to purchase ....50/50...60/40....80/20 won't get you in trouble...lol
Paul that’s incredible to see. It’s hard looking at it to not be impressed. Most of my favorites are there and all of my future wants. Thank you for showing this collection to us. I did still see some table under all those products so I guess there is still room to fall down the rabbit hole, and to experience all the new products that come out.
Amazing collection!!! You did say that you did not collect all these over a couple of weeks, but you did not actually clarify (approximately) how long it took. re we talking 1 year? 5? 10? A lifetime?... You should also know that you have made a lot of people jealous. Including myself. Aaaahahahaaa! Excellent video and I wish that the Shave Den Tour 2020 will be significantly enlarged, primarily with good quality items! Greetings from Qatar, your Greek fan.
Thank you, Paul! -- For reaffirming that I DO NOT have a problem with all the shaving products I buy weekly. WHEW! That's a relief! You know, I should celebrate by buying some more shaving stuff. And did I see a Schick Krona in gold?!
Thank you, Paul. Now I feel much better about my S.S.A.D. (Shaving Stuff Acquisition Disorder). Okay, Okay, I'll confess, I paused the video several times to drool. Have a great and safe week
Hi Paul- Very well done and thank you for the tour; much appreciated, as always! A collection that definitely has been acquired over a period of time. Very relaxing. Had to watch it twice. And I’ll probably watch it several more times.
You've got more Palmolive than what's on the shelves in the pharmacy.
For about 10 yers or more kkkkkkkkk
modern palmolive soap 4 life. Vintage is about citronella+decent lather. Just bought fresh 10pack last week :)
