The internet barely seems to provide any information about BRUT back when it was still made by Fabergé. For instance, there is little to no mention about: how popular it once was, how many sizes it was offered in, what different kinds of products were in BRUT's product line by Fabergé, or what the most popular product from its line was. When my dad worked for Fabergé, he said that BRUT's closest competitor in terms of popularity among mens' fragrances at the time was Old Spice. He also said that the most popular product in its entire line was the BRUT 33 Splash On Lotion in addition to the gift sets containing Soap on a Rope being hugely popular in the holidays.

After much research the rights to the brand Brut were purchased for some regions by Idelle Laboratories, a division of Helen of Troy Limited. There is a bottle made in Mexico I think which is 757ml (huge bottle!) and will probably last several lifetimes. I got a bottle online for £30 or so and it is exactly like the original in every way and lasts all day. Worth a look for those interested.
No product today comes close to the Faberge original. Unilever produces the fragrance from partly artificial substances. Thanks Paul for the video. I also have an old bottle from the nineties. It's amazing that it's still intact. It smells like the first day and is absolutely unique. It's a shame it's no longer available. Greetings from Germany

I used to go roller skating at weekends in Wolverhampton Whispering Wheels. As a 15+ year old apprentice I earned £5.00 per week of which £2.50 was compulsorily saved into a Lloyds bank account. I cannot remember the price of the miniature bottle at the time but it was all I could afford. Haha, I remember we took turns in buying it and handed it around the cadets for a one finger dab each at weekends... glad I watched your video as I have just bought a bottle of EDC spray from Amazon... In the sixties the girls used to say "Wow you smell nice"... When my bottle arrives and I don it I foresee my grandchildren saying "Phew grandad, what is that awful pong"? 😆 P.S. I still have a nearly full bottle of the original "Old Spice"... I rarely use any smellies these days but I put some Old Spice on a few weeks ago and stunk the house out... 🤣
I'll tell ya, this still smells really damn good. Don't have the cologne, but I always have a 7 ounce bottle of splash-on laying around. Usually wear Azzaro Pour Homme, or Paco Rabanne Pour Homme, or Drakkar but this morning splashed some of this old classic on and didn't regret it at all. I love this for pretty much the same reason I like Azzaro Pour Homme. That wonderful anise note, mixed with that leathery shaving foam vibe. Classic masterpiece.👍

I’m in the United States and I used to wear Brut back in the mid 90’s. I decided to pick a bottle up yesterday, and it is definitely not like it used to be… it almost has a baby powder sent as opposed to the nice strong masculine scent it used to have. I’m pretty bummed because I was excited to start wearing it again. Then, I was going to pick up a bottle of English Leather and I can’t find that anywhere. Brut and English Leather were my favorites as a young man.

Great video on Brut. I pick up a bottle, from anywhere, UK, Europe, Asia, Australia, etc. just for fun. Every morning, one week I will use the one from the UK, next week the one from Europe, so & so forth. Not to compare with the Brut from East Coast US, but just for fun. I have the same original Brut as you have. The splash on with the silver top, same black and silver sticker below, and the silver medallion. It also has a Faberge stamp at the bottom of the flask. Mine has about the double amount as in your flask. Bought it from a widow that sold her late husbands fragrances on a used market website here in Norway. It's my crown jewel of my collection. I have never smelled any other fragrance that comes close to Brut, I've never tried the copies and I never will. Paid about 20£ for it. My best fragrance purchase ever. It has such a man's scent, it's not for the youngsters, that's for sure. You have to be a man to wear this. But after 40+ years, it's only projecting for 3-4 hours. But I don't care, I wear this for myself.
I used the Brut anti-perspirant deodorant daily back in high school. And I recently purchased the glass bottle after shave and to me they smell completely different. Oh well, memories.
I have a bottle of eau de toilette in the flask shaped bottle it is a lighter color not dark green liquid like yours. But it smells like the original and lasts longer than the special reserve we have here in the states.
Ive been listening to 80s music this afternoon. It took me back to some GREAT times. The upshot of it was, that i got an urge to wear Brut again (like i did in the 80s). I have a collection of about 70 modern day frags, from "cheapies" up to more expensive frags, Like Perfume De Marly Layton.

Brut Classic Splash-on in the USA is made in Mexico. It is strong first applied and fades over a few hours. Not sure where it fits with the three you show as currently for sale in the UK.

It's difficult to find the original Brut in the glass bottle in the United States, but I can still get the cologne, the aftershave and the splash-on in the plastic bottles.
It can be difficult to get here too, the original Faberge anyway....the modern glass bottle version is available in a lot of stores here thankfully....all the best...Paul.
I remember that one well and I used to get it as a Christmas gift every year from my family members I had a whole medicine cabinet full of that stuff!!
They still sell a glass bottle with the medallion in the U.S. It says "Special Reserve-Spray Cologne" under the medallion and on the back says Idelle Labs, Ltd. El Paso, TX 79912. The one I have comes in a 3 fl. oz bottle.
pimpingmrli Hello, yes, I also have that one, it's one of the Helen Of Troy formulations Idelle Labs the one they make in the big 25 oz bottle is the one closest to the original, but only with the Brut 33 range strength, I can recomend you to search for Brut Faberge on ebay with all the juice in for good longlivety..
Paul there is a DE Razor I 100% recommend and it is the Razorock Mission which you can get for $19.99 from Italian barber and it comes with a few packs of blades from different manufacturers , this razor is King, Jock Stewart.

I am a fun of Brut all the way ! In Greece it was quite popular for many years especially in the 90´s. I do want to purchase the one with the gold medalion ! Regardless if i rare shave i went to buy the Old Spice and was really dissapointed..I bought it in Greece and in Germany but it doesnt remind me the strong ,penetrating scent .Anyway ,nice video and keep up the good work.

I bought the Glass Bottle Aftershave. I been so despertate to sniff it again. I wanted to be transported back to the 80s. I LOVE the smell of it, but it only lasts about 30 mins on my skin......and i have really good skin for most modern frags, as many last hours and hours and hours on me.
People make jokes about Brut but It has a very pleasant and distinct smell that takes you back to days gone by. I buy the aftershave, the only trouble is the aroma doesn't last very long.

Faberge also made a real nice smelling woman's perfume that a girlfriend of mine used to wear. It was called Tigress. You can find some original bottles on Ebay but will have to pay a pretty penny for it.
I still love Brut Cologne. But they don't make it like the original. He's right the original used to have all day staying power. Not only that but it seemed to mix or smell a little different/better with your body sweat or body odor as the day wore on. It seemed the more you sweated or got hot, the stronger,the better it smelled. And when you took a shower it came back to life.I'm going to look for it online because all I see is cheap knock offs in the stores.

Dear sir, i have the Brut eau de toilette in the same bottle with you but not the gold edition. It is exactly the same but with metal color Brut logo and cap. Do you know about this edition? Compare to Brut eau de toilette original in yellow bottles, the Brut for men is stronger in smell.

Brut Classic Splash-on in the USA is made in Mexico. It is strong first applied and fades over a few hours. Not sure where it fits with the three you show as currently for sale in the UK.

I use it because my dad loved it and it reminds me of the old man, now gone sadly. I'm sure if the Incredible Hulk shaves he would definitely use Brut as a splash on after shave!

It's difficult to find the original Brut in the glass bottle in the United States, but I can still get the cologne, the aftershave and the splash-on in the plastic bottles.
It can be difficult to get here too, the original Faberge anyway....the modern glass bottle version is available in a lot of stores here thankfully....all the best...Paul.

We wore Brut in the 60s. It was expensive and not widely known. We frequented the Twisted Wheel club in Manchester UK We considered ourselves elite.
As a kid I use to go crazy for English Leather
I remember that one well and I used to get it as a Christmas gift every year from my family members I had a whole medicine cabinet full of that stuff!!
They still sell a glass bottle with the medallion in the U.S. It says "Special Reserve-Spray Cologne" under the medallion and on the back says Idelle Labs, Ltd. El Paso, TX 79912. The one I have comes in a 3 fl. oz bottle.
pimpingmrli Hello, yes, I also have that one, it's one of the Helen Of Troy formulations Idelle Labs the one they make in the big 25 oz bottle is the one closest to the original, but only with the Brut 33 range strength, I can recomend you to search for Brut Faberge on ebay with all the juice in for good longlivety..

Paul there is a DE Razor I 100% recommend and it is the Razorock Mission which you can get for $19.99 from Italian barber and it comes with a few packs of blades from different manufacturers , this razor is King, Jock Stewart.

The splash on is the renamed Brut 33. It's only a third strength of the original.
Excellent video.. We all have memories of Brut the original by Fabergé .. Funnily enough I was never a big fan of Brut ! I hope u can do a similar video about Tabac original. Which is one of my favourite cologens, sadly not the same anymore too ! Thanks...

I am a fun of Brut all the way ! In Greece it was quite popular for many years especially in the 90´s. I do want to purchase the one with the gold medalion ! Regardless if i rare shave i went to buy the Old Spice and was really dissapointed..I bought it in Greece and in Germany but it doesnt remind me the strong ,penetrating scent .Anyway ,nice video and keep up the good work.

I bought the Glass Bottle Aftershave. I been so despertate to sniff it again. I wanted to be transported back to the 80s. I LOVE the smell of it, but it only lasts about 30 mins on my skin......and i have really good skin for most modern frags, as many last hours and hours and hours on me.
I am 35 and bought the aftershave and the body lotion. I find it lasts about an hour on me but I usually wear it after a shower before bed haha
Just smelling Brut makes me happy.
My very favorite scent. I wish the unilever one in the square glass had more staying power.

People make jokes about Brut but It has a very pleasant and distinct smell that takes you back to days gone by. I buy the aftershave, the only trouble is the aroma doesn't last very long.
+The Green Knight I'm not sure if you live in the USA, but the Brut Special Reserve in the 3 oz glass bottle is pretty strong and lasts awhile. I've been told the Brut cologne in the huge 25.6 oz. glass bottle is based on the original formula. See my longer comment here.

My dad says it not the same as when he had it back in his day It's cheaper version and said its definitely been watered down he only had to put a little on him but today is you need half bottle to get any affect 🤔 😉

Faberge also made a real nice smelling woman's perfume that a girlfriend of mine used to wear. It was called Tigress. You can find some original bottles on Ebay but will have to pay a pretty penny for it.

I still love Brut Cologne. But they don't make it like the original. He's right the original used to have all day staying power. Not only that but it seemed to mix or smell a little different/better with your body sweat or body odor as the day wore on. It seemed the more you sweated or got hot, the stronger,the better it smelled. And when you took a shower it came back to life.I'm going to look for it online because all I see is cheap knock offs in the stores.

Try leaving the top off the modern bottle and let some of the spirits evaporate, I'm sure the original is a more concentrated smell due to evaporation. P.s nice to see you dressed for the occasion lol. Only one thing missing the medallion and the goucho moustache.

Love the smell of Brut. Still wear it sometimes. Probably not as sophisticated as some of todays fragrances though I'm told its becoming trendy again. I see there's now an advert with Vinnie Jones.

I love Brut but the Brut I get now is not the same at all and when I splash it on the top comes out and it runs out of the bottle . So that means that it as been played with . The great saying is splash it all over

Compare to Brut eau de toilette original in yellow bottles, the Brut for men is stronger in smell.
What about the original after shave in the glass bottle? Is it any good? I'm want to buy some aftershave closest to the original.. All I can get in the States is the Classic aftershave.
Hi Paul: I use to always see Brut by faberge ,I would never wear it but the aroma is very nice regardless...Its amazing what aromas will take you back for sure...I was watching a Lady on you tube ,a Nadine Artemis here handle was" Living in libations"
