It makes me sick to think that women are still being told to abort these precious babies, or to put them in an institution. Then to learn that in Africa they are called cursed, that is so hard to hear. Thank you for sharing the beautiful story of Kai's adoption and the love and joy she has brought to her adoptive family.

I had a sister who had downs. She was like a half sister and you know what she used to tell me she say people think I’m stupid, but you wanna know something. They are the stupid people not me and that’s stuck with me. She wasn’t dumb at all in my opinion anyhow, I worked with children who had downs, they just learned at a different pace, but they learned the same things that everybody else learned so I don’t know what the big stinking deal is other than you have to have some surgeries and learn how to crawl but we we taught them how to do that and there’s different degrees of having downs so I think the worst thing is the heart issues and any other physical problems but just having down per se I don’t know what the big deal is. Why would the doctor cry. What an idiot I had trouble in the hospital with my daughter. She was born with a defective foot and they wouldn’t let me see either. In fact, they gave me a boy instead of her should’ve. I should’ve sued the stupid hospital.

@markmullen1852 Good try. When non-black people adopt black children they need to learn how to do their hair. It's harder to do than just putting on a wig but it's important. If it was cared for properly, she would love it as much as her root beer colored skin. Our hair is our crown. She is a queen.
