My late cousin also had Down Syndrome. He had many many friends and a whole community that looked out for him. His aunties/uncles would always fight and argue on who would have him for the night/weekend or take him on holidays. We were blessed to have 35 years. I miss him very much

My 19 year old son with DS makes our hearts sing! When they told me after he was born that he had DS, I said that I will just love him even more! I’ve often said he has UP-Syndrome, because of how happy he is 😊❤️

I have been blessed in my life to have known and worked with multiple people like Jack and can confirm without a doubt that they are the bundles of sunshine and unmitigated joy and kindness you see here. Even when sad or frustrated, they will look for the silverlining in a situation because as I was told once, “Why should I be sad forever when mom made tacos…?” ❤ I wish we all could appreciate and embrace life in such terms.

@ I too had a shocking announcement from the neonatal Doctor who exclaimed seconds after the birth, “I think we have a major problem!” I will never forget how much this news upset me. I immediately broke down crying and expressing my disappointment. “Shoot the messenger,” she kept repeating! Once I finally caught my breath, I straightforwardly told her that my daughter’s diagnosis was NOT a major problem! The major problem was the cold and thoughtless way she conveyed the message. I filed a complaint, but I don’t really know if it made any difference. What I do know is that my life changed the second my daughter came into this world. For the better! Wouldn’t change it for all the riches in the world! Thank you for sharing a part of your Slurpee King’s preciousness!❤️

I have heard many times the term "down syndrome should be called up syndrome" and I couldn't agree more. I have 3 girls and all 3 times was asked if I wanted the test early to weigh my options in case my children had a disorder mostly down syndrome. I all 3 times said we didn't care either way. The 3rd time I did only to be told if she was a boy or girl. We didn't care about what they did. My girls are not down syndrome but if they were, I wouldn't change them for the world either way. I believe they are here for a reason. And that reason is to love and show unconditional love to the world. They are here to show us how to be kids again and laugh out loud and be epithetic and just well rounded. They are the most kind humans on this planet. We are lucky Everytime the world is blessed with another kind gentle soul of theirs.

@@MSinAZTHANKYOU for making that documented complaint regarding the physician involved. A teaching moment and the individual DID hear it, may not change their behavior immediately but over time it will.

My 12 year old son, Nathan, has Down Syndrome and he is absolutely the joy of all our lives. He also loves Slurpee's and basketball. Jack reminds me a lot of Nathan. I love our life and I wouldn't change a thing. His sister adores him as well. She was almost 5 years old when he was born and has been his best friend and second mama ever since. She said he is the "treasure" of our family (she's pretty special too as are all siblings of kids with special needs). If there is one thing I wish people knew, it's that knowing someone that lives in the present and loves life, changes your perspective and helps you to see what is truly important, and that is love. In this life all that matters is showing love to those around us. People like Nathan and Jack are an example of how to give and receive love. Thank you for sharing your story. You have a beautiful family.

My son does not have DS. He was born with several defects that mainly happen alone and one condition that happen to occur with one of his defects. He was born with spina bifida which is usually accompanied by hydrocephaly. His 2nd birth defect was Craniosynosthosis (a craniofacial deformity)! Lastly, he was born with microcephaly. The microcephaly was caused by the Craniosynosthosis. Being that he had fluid on the brain, but his head was small, he had some damage to his brain! The doctor didn't give him much of a chance of living past 6 and said he'd be a vegetable. He's going to be 38 in a few months. He's in a wheelchair, needs 24 hr supervision, and has a long care list. Is he worth the effort. Damn Skippy he is. I would have it any other way.

When I was a kid, there was a girl in my class with DS.
Because my little brother was in a lot of her classes (he is EMH), and I went to Special Olympics stuff, she and I were tight.
Her mother needed a sitter one night. And Andrea asked if I'd come hang out with her if her momma wouldn't make her stay with a sitter.
So that became a thing. When mom and dad had something to do and Andrea didnt want to go, I'd go hang out with her. Or they'd drop her off with me at work, and she'd help me wait tables. ❤
My time with her was some of the greatest.

We definitely have 7-11 in Australia. So I hope you visit us one day Jack. You and your family can still enjoy your Slurpees 🙂
I have a 7-11 petrol (gas) station just down the road from my house and it has a slurpee machine. It’s not as big as the one you showed in this video, but it’s still got around 3 different flavours that change every now and then.
In the HOT Australian summers, it’s very tempting to walk down a grab an ice cold slurpee.
A few summers back, I purchased a special slurpee cup and that gave me FREE refills for a long time -I can’t remember how long but it was a great summer 🙂
I like to have half cola and half raspberry flavour in my slurpee cup.
    What’s your favourite flavour? ❤
