    Fortune Lady Light was exactly who I was thinking could benefit from Self-Mummification, although I would never run it over Compulsory Evacuation Device. That said, there is a potential game winning combo with Self-Mummification where if you use Nibiru to give your opponent a token with more than 8000 ATK, and then use Self-Mummification on a face-down Light to activate her effect to bring out Fortune Lady Fire, then you can destroy that token and inflict damage to the opponent equal to the token's ATK.

    I dont play YuGiOh myself and just watch your videos cause they are really soothing and surprisingly interesting ^^

    • @TheDuelLogs
      @TheDuelLogs  4 года назад +8

      Its a complicated ruling having to do with if a monster uses "If" rather than "When" when it refers to how its floating effect activates. If a card says "When" as in "WHEN this card is sent to the GY: You can Draw 1 card" it can miss timing in a lot of cases if something else happens after its sent to the GY. Because the wording of WHEN basically means it needs to happen immediately when its sent to the GY and if it doesn't, then you miss the timing of being able to choose whether you want to draw that 1 card or not. If a card says "IF this card is sent the GY: You can Draw 1 card" then it will always happen and never miss timing, because its not constrained to a time frame of WHEN it was sent to the GY, just that it was sent there.
      Conversely, if the "WHEN" effect is mandatory, then it cannot miss the timing. So if the effect read "WHEN this card is sent to the GY: Draw 1 card" then that would no miss the timing since you have to activate it and do not have the choice of "YOU CAN".

    Many of the cards would obviously be bad cards (like "Cold Feet", as it would be considered good to send the effect of the cards toward your opponent), but you may find a few good cards to put on the list. Like Sylvan Charity for instance: Don't have Refpanel to combo with it? Not an issue if your playing Sylvans (you know, the deck that runs Charity) as it is literally Graceful Charity for the deck, but if you have Refpanel you can combo the two for a total hand-wipe on the opponent (unless they are also playing Sylvans), that can even potentially lock up there draw for a good number of turns.

    one thing you might not have considered with star changer is that you can target your opponents monsters...so when the card came out, you could mess up their synchro or xyz play by changing, for example, one of the monsters rescue rabbit brought out to a different level than the other, meaning they couldnt be used for an xyz right away, probably resulting in this monsters getting banised at end of turn. same with synchros- alter the level of one of the monsters intended and prevent making the synchro they want to make. not super useful anymore, but it at least had applications when it was made, so i'd say it deserved to be higher up the list than trading places and greed grado at least

  • @archwing3441
    @archwing3441 4 года назад

    Back when I was raging at xyz monsters cause I hated them and made decks dedicated to stopping, them, star changer was hilariously one of them >_> Unlike synchros, that may still get a synchro off being a different level, xyz requires the same level so changing the level of one monster on the field can really screw them up. The issue with the card, besides not actually removing cards, is that now that everyone has link monsters, it's always an option to go into instead of an xyz so you'll only change the plan rather than completely disrupt it.

    If you move the monster that was targered by a card effect to another monster zone. Do you prevent the monster from being affected by that card effect ?

    • @DaPopeANata
      @DaPopeANata 4 года назад +1

      I would think no, since the monster is being targeted, not the zone. There are cards that target the zone and do things to the card in it, or maybe link cards that can only target cards they are pointing to, and in those cases your strategy would work.

    About Mind Wipe, it's actually a TERRIBLE card because of the 3 card limitation. The other two cards you mentioned (Trickstar and Disturbance+a card that prevents adding cards back to the deck) can actually deck out your opponent in a deck with Appropriate+Dark Bribe+Bistro Butcher+Chainsaw Insect+Card Destruction since you can get your opponent to have like 15 cards if not more in their hand while you are drawing your deck as well, then activating either of those cards to finish them off! You can even add stuff like Wonder Balloons or whatever effect that involves discarding to make use of your huge hand size while stalling out, with such a deck I can deck out opponents within 5 turns easily if they have less than 50 cards.

  • @KOTK11

    10-Targets, meaning it could trigger some effects.
    9-Really just needs stronger flip monsters to see use, or something that summons flips from the deck.
    8-It could be alright? It could be alright if you could force your opponent to use it.
    7-Situational issue aside, the synchros left on the field are usually hard to destroy, so...
    6-Underwhelming, but not unusable. Could make synchro tool boxing easier, I suppose, but there’s no advantage to it being a QUICK spell.
    5-Underwhelming. Nothing more.
    4-It could be good at disruption, but not well.
    3-It was made to make Ring of Destruction, as mentioned, as seen in the anime, but... no.
    2-Actively hindering. Perhaps if you could force the opponent to use it easier, but...
    1-Activity hindering. Interesting idea that could be exploited if expanded upon. Nothing really exists like that yet, so it is definitely worth the number 1 spot.

One detail that a lot of peaple never notice is how you can use it on the opponent's monsters as well, and as a quick-play, you can tecnically "destrupt" some plays. Then links became a thing, so rip

      You could - but, if you're gonna waste a deck slot on Star Changer just in case, leave it on the field for your opponent to maybe pop so you can activate on their turn, just to disrupt maybe an XYZ or Synchro play that may not even be coming you're better off playing something with spell speed 2 destruction if it's an option and just blowing up one of the materials, rather than leave it there.

    The only purpose for cards like Self Mummification is to use as a counter for things like Ojamas which are Token Monsters that appear on your side of the field that you can neither destroy or sacrifice and exist as a means of preventing you from summoning other monsters to the field because they're cluttering up your main resource area
    Additionally this card exists to hard counter things like Lava Golem, Poison Butterfly and Parasite Paracide. Like honest to God thinking about it, Joey could have made this card invaluable in certain situations namely the duels with Weevil.

    I use Soul Reversal in my Worm deck. Shame Worms aren't even vaguely close to viable due to being not only outdated, but very slow-moving. Also, Trading Places would've been good back when Megamorph was considered strong since you could force the condition for the positive effect of Megamorph. A Summoned Skull with 5k attack was no joke back in the day.

  • @temporaryhandle802

    No joke, I had always thought quick plays were hand traps, like you can activate from the hand during your opponents turn. Maybe confusing wording from early guide books or I didn't read carefully.
