Timely Vid. I cant get bulbs to work in the trunk of my Mustang any more, must be something wrong with the casing. So I ordered 2 of these! One for the car and one for the house
If the lamp has been stuck to the trunk with the 3m tape and you need to recharge it via USB, that means you have to remove the 3M tape, recharge the lamp from say your living room outlet and reapply a new tape to reinstall the lamp to the trunk?
No, the 3M tape holds it to wherever you want to mount it. On the other side of the tape is a magnet. That's what holds the light. So, when you need to recharge the light, you just pull it off and the magnet stays put.
Not unless you have something moving around in the trunk. But, in that case, you could just set it to the "off" position and turn it on when you need it.

Which one are you using? The amazon link in the description goes to the 64 LED, but it also has options for 36 and 20 LED.
