Outstanding casting of Debra Jo Rupp. She already has the period sitcom chops from her tenure on That 70's Show. Don't know how they snagged her but she took that small role as Mrs. Hart and knocked it out of the park.
Man Debra Jo Rupp is such an amazing under-rated actress. Shes so used to the sitcom style of patter but shes got real depth to her acting. Her soft chuckling while her eyes are begging Wanda to stop it. Gives me chills.
I love how they seeded this little breadcrumb trail all over the episode. Just small little clues hidden in plain sight here and there. The calendar had a picture of a girl watching the tv by herself, the toaster made the same noise tony's suit made when charging a blast, the camera work change when the boss chokes and the lack of the little star effect when vision phases his hand trough him to remove the obstruction, and the first color we see being red (scarlet red?). I can't wait for more pieces of the puzzle. This ride is gonna be fun!
These guys are so wholesome to the point that they're inner beauty LITERALLY shines out to their physical beauty ESPECIALLY the the slim guy in the captain america shirt. Gorgeous.
I came because of the Mandalorian reactions. I’m staying for the Mandalorian reactions. But I’m checking out the Marvel reactions too. Theses guys are a lot of fun.
I don't think the Mom from That 70s show was frozen/glitching when saying "Stop It," nor do I think she's telling her husband/the boss to quit choking/goofing off. I think after the boss keeps prodding, Wanda's TV world auto reacts to shut him up by choking him. Wanda's world has the wife on NPC mode, but she is still coherent, so she is begging directly at Wanda, because she/her world is choking him. She's smiling, but her eyes are freaking out. I'm going to love this show.
I loved how they used classic '50s sitcom multi-camera filming techniques the whole episode... except for the choking scene, which used modern single-camera style filming. There was a glitch in the matrix and they conveyed it visually in the filming. Brilliant. Also, we did have MCU content in 2020, season 7 of Agents of SHIELD. I know, I know, but still it was there.
I think the 1.5 year wait was worth it. It gave some finality to phase 3 with endgame and far from home. It gave time for the audience to miss and phase 4 to have a beginning
Wandavision which then leads in Falcon/Winter Soldier which then leads into Loki, then What If...? with Ms Marvel perhaps at the end of the year WITH the Book of Boba Fett...it's a good time to be a Peach right now
They even updated the Marvel logo with more Phase 3 moments, including Iron Man's snap. I love that the last clip you seen in the Marvel part of the logo is T'Challa doing his thing and being awesome. RIP Chadwick.
jay @ 6:12 just taking a breath and going "this is very good" was exactly my reaction. it's written with so much care; both the light-hearted and eerie parts. i have been raving about the tone of the show. such an exciting time for marvel's experimentation with their art.
Loved this reaction, cannot wait for the second episode! Both this reaction and the two episodes released were both a pleasant unintentional gift for my birthday today!
Is no one going to talk about how the toaster commercial said “forget about the past, this is your future”? It’s like Marvel is saying to forget about the old movies and what we think we know about the mcu because they’re about to do something completely different.
Nah i think its Wanda trying to forget her past. Forgetting she killed Vision and all the shite that has happened to her. I feel this is her re-writing reality so she can have her happily ever after with Vision.
@@Serryy The Toaster represents the bomb that killed her parents. Its made by stark, has the repulser sound and goes off. I belive the date is on there as well\
I still enjoy some of these old shows on TV, dated though the sets, stories, dialogue, humor, etc. may be. Just that touch of nostalgia, I guess. But that is what is making this show so appealing, as it's built on such a great foundation, one so many of us can relate to from our TV watching experiences growing up...or even now.
no matter how many shows i've watched [and i truly love all my MCU/Disney Plus shows], WANDAVISION is what i always come back to. loved it! love watching you guys on this.
A man with nail polish? Yassssss man, break those toxic masculinity stereotypes!!! Guys have you noticed in the logo intro, the images of Iron man and Black Widow are the only ones in B/W?That's because they are dead. MARVEL and details...oh god I missed it!
This ways by far the most beautifully devastating emotional roller-coaster. For all the off the cuff sitcom style. The writing and the from page to paper. Beautiful. The stages of grief to self healing. Good vs evil. Her growth. With out the avengers training wheels. If the MCU can do this going forward. So many stories to tell.
I wonder if Wanda is trapped or being held in B.A.R.F. to keep her from going truly insane and ripping apart the universe grieving over EVERYONE she’s lost.
The way the camera work changed from the typical 50's technique to modern day zooms at that part of the dinner is *chef's kiss*. It adds to the uncanny feeling and dread llike our reality taking back control.
Finally a positive reaction/review from fellow marvel nerds here on youtube ☺️ I was so disappointed how nearly every well known RUclips reviewer/critic is giving this series a thumbs down so far
I’m re-watching this currently, and it’s a completely different experience now I know what is going on. The “stop it” scene was a bit creepy and baffling the first time, 2nd time it’s heartbreaking.
I came here from the Mando rewatches but I'm enjoying your watch as well as the appreciation of the genre here (I grew up watching a lot of these on Nick at Nite). Also your banter is quite funny - I was totally cracking up at your LDR rant (been there, done that :) ).
Everyone is gonna come back to this comment and praise it for it's irony when this show leads directly into Doctor STRANGE and the Multiverse of madness. See you all then 👋👋👋
Great opening episode and great reaction, guys! After watching episode 1, I think we should refer to Wanda and Vision for the rest of the series as 'Diane' and 'Fred'! Those who have seen the episode will understand the reference! LOL!
Thor was a grand, cosmic, full orchestra, kind of space opera set in a Marvel movie. Guardians of the Galaxy was about a wacky band of misfits-turned-heroes with a killer soundtrack set in a Marvel movie. The Winter Soldier was a political/spy/espionage thriller set In a Marvel movie. And now we have WandaVision: a classic laugh-track, wink-and-a-smile sitcom.....set in a Marvel tv show. Gotta hand it to the top brass, like Kevin Feige. This is extremely well done - kinda like that chicken!!! (ba-dum-tss!!)

When the toaster was making that sound it sounded like a bomb that was about to go off, because wander and her brother were near a stark bomb waiting for it to go off and kill them- she incorporated that into her world
I love the first two episodes cause its light, fun and wholesome while also dark, creepy and mysterious at the same time.I cannot wait for the next episodes cause the slow burn is killing me lol the commercial was unique tho and it might be wanda's memories and trauma. You probably know this by now but Paul Bettany's ears are not covered on the set, his ears are removed and covered through VFX. His original costume in the earlier movies did have them covered and it was insanely uncomfortable.

Yesss I loved it, such a small detail but so fun
🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻🤌🏻
like when you can see their hands have moved slightly ugh it’s so good. same when she changes dresses
The first words from Wanda "my husband and his indestructible head", pretty telling knowing how Vision died
Dick Van Dyke himself consulted so that they could nail the slapstick comedy and the overall atmosphere.
If that’s true how lovely.
LEGEND. National Treasure
Millie Dancer it is
Episode 2 leans into the DvD show way more than episode 1 ever did.
Woah really? Not gonna lie I thought he was dead. I'm glad he isn't though.
“When I wanna be” is an advanced level joke. Kudos for that one
Thanks. 😁
they missed an opportunity there

Miss Kitty in bizarro avengers sitcomland. She killed it.
She might be my all time favorite sitcom mom. Her character in that 70s show pretty much made me crack up every time she spoke.
The Stark toaster also made a repulsor sound.

Dude, Paul Bettany is spectacular in this. I love Lizzie Olsen and Kathryn Hahn but I think my favorite is Paul so far.
I agree but I have a feeling Elizabeth’s best moments have yet to come. Especially the parts where she breaks character like the end of episode 2.
Mr. Hart was able to sort of break character in asking Wanda & Vision repeatedly how they got there and he was silenced as a consequence. Gnarly
