Gong Yoo, the guy playing the recruiter, ad libbed some of his movements with the gun in that final scene with Gi-hun, including the moment where he puts the gun in his own mouth. It's amazing that he and Lee Jung-jae (Gi-hun) were able to make that scene as intense as some of the games scenes from season 1. Incredible acting from both of them.
The final scene in this episode is easily my favorite scene in the entire show, from the writing, to the acting, to the music (I already loved "Time to Say Goodbye", and I love the inclusion of it here), everything was perfect. Tbh, when I first watched this episode, I was a bit hesitant of the new vibe this season was giving off, but the ending to this episode showed me that they're still capable of giving us the old flavor of Season 1, and thus I fully accepted this new flavor Season 2 gives us. When I finished this episode for the first time, I audibly said, "We are so fucking back."
The reason the cop was diving is because remember there's an underwater entrance to the island that they used to transport organs they harvested. He's trying to look for that
Something I love about the start of this season is that from the perspective of Gi-hun's crew, he is the weird billionaire who is paying them to torment themselves in this strange game of searching the subways. And Gi-hun doesn't play that game with them, he watches them play it. A very smart way of connecting him to Oh Il-nam and the VIPs in their disconnetion-from and use-of people struggling to get by. Obviously not to the same degree! But you could see where it starts from an personal obsession and a lot of money.
How could you possibly forget how intense these are, Adam! You wept on the internet for that guy!!! (That betrayal is still one of the best things I've seen on your channel lol.)
My favorite part about this episode: The music choice for the Russian Roulette game is It's Time To Say Goodbye with Sarah Brightman and Andrea Bocelli. So Fitting ❤
I loved this episode. I am so happy Gong Yoo got to shine like he did (with his fine self...lol). It kind of mad me sad he's gone because he was truly amazing.
When Adam cried during Season 1 Episode 6 of Squid Game "Gganbu" I had never cried SO MUCH during ANY reaction EVER! I know how bad something has to hit a grown man to make him cry so much that I was DEVASTATED along with him! Love these guys!
I''m not even a gambler in any way, I'm actually almost pathologically risk averse, but I fully understand taking the scratcher over the bread. If you're homeless, there are ways of getting food. And if you take the one measly piece of bread, that's going to last you maybe a few hours, and at the end you'll still be homeless and hungry again. If you take the ticket you're almost certainly not going to win anything, but there's a minuscule chance you can win life changing money.
It's like a comparison with the games where you either choose to leave (guaranteed to survive for another day) or continue playing (extremely small chance of getting a lot of money). Most people still choose to continue playing like last season.
You don't show it, but somewhere around the 17:10 mark, the recruiter aims the gun at gi-hun's head and pulls the trigger. I think he knew the bullet wasn't in the firing chamber and just wanted to scare gi-hun.. I'm guessing that was a callback to the first season when gi-hun pointed the "gun lighter" at the recruiter and pulled the trigger.
11:52 You guys, the police guy has met Gi hun multiple times. Once at the police station when Gi Hun had first gone to tell the police about the existence of the games (he walks in, asks about what the commotion is about and notices the squid game card on the fellow officer's desk) , then he went to meet him at his place asking him about the squid game card and he later followed Gi hun when the masked men took him in their car. He also met Gi hyun when he was in the pink costume and enquired about his brother. How did you all forget it all???🥲🤨🤣
I watched the first season but I really wasn’t in the mode to watch the second season. Instead I’ve decided to just catch your review on RUclips so I can at least get the gist of the second season. Thanks for giving me a reason to at least get an overview of second season so I know what everyone else is talking about.
If the gun had gone off when the recruiter pulled it during that first Russian Roulette game, there's a good chance those two guys would have starved to death lol.
I thought the lights being off at a full hotel was a well known thing until you guys said is that a thing there. Did anyone else know this before hand? Also, in regards to Adam saying "What do you expect, it's a love hotel", I literally saw a girl do a video yesterday who was in a rush to find a hotel room and unknowingly got a room at a love hotel. She didn't get suspicious until she noticed the mood lighting board and provisions at the head of the bed. The room though, was FABULOUS! It was so luxe. I even looked up the reviews and families were literally booking to stay there. I just thought that was so funny when you mentioned it.
I have only seen the recent movie version of west side story once and I didn’t remember the character’s names but when he was climbing up the building and Jay said “Maria!” I also immediately said “I bet that’s a west side story reference Jay is making” 😂, so Jay I would also like $1,000 please.
This is not a spoiler, but before you react to episode 2, Gi-hun's birthday is 31st October 1974. We realise this when he called them again at the airport in the last episode of season 1. Technically speaking. If he had a normal life and we calculated his age according to when season 2 was released, then he should have been celebrating his 50th birthday.
Funny, Adam made a Lost connection. Not only Squid Game is alluded to Lost but also Stranger Things. SPOILERS !!! For Lost, a mysterious organization runs the island, and the island is hard to find for outsiders. Also, in Lost, Jin and Sun were a Korean couple and Sun’s rich father has a connection to the island just like Jun-ho’s brother, In-ho, is working on the island as the Front Man. For Stranger Things, 001 is not to be trusted, and 011 has a special skill and a connection with the organization for a long time. Both elevens know how to use their deadly powers.
This is so weird because your ending scene is totally different from when I watched …well the dialogue is different. On yours he says that they’ll spin the chamber after each turn to reset the odds … on mine he says that they’ll WON’T spin the chamber at all and the bullet will be fired within 6 attempts
Hey guys, I generally enjoy your reactions - your reaction to Gganbu from last season was one of my favorites on YT in fact - but this was a miss for me unforunately because of the cut audio during the Roulette scenes. It made it awkward to watch, and was disappointing considering the delivery on the dialogue in those scenes was top notch. Just sort of took me out of the experience to be missing that entirely. I’m glad you enjoyed the episode and still a fan of the channel, but wanted to give some honest feedback on an aspect I didn’t like.

11:08. "Straight Up Carb Stomping" was a SOLID joke from Jay! I had to pause the video for a second. Was laughing so hard!
Read this as soon as he said it 😂

The amazingness of the range of the actor playing the recruiter -- it's is the same actor that played the dad in Train To Busan.
Sad he's gone because the actor was amazing

while also emphasizing the lesson that people will do anything for money- especially a large amount of it.
Season 2 didn’t disappoint. Loved it.
Season 2 is shit
Adam, in the most stressed out voice imaginable: We are so back!
How could you possibly forget how intense these are, Adam! You wept on the internet for that guy!!! (That betrayal is still one of the best things I've seen on your channel lol.)
When does Adam say he forgot how intense these are? Did I miss it? 🤔
@LyziShadow The title of the vid: we forgot how intense these games are.
Oh yeah 😂 now I feel stupid 🤦♂️
@LyziShadow noooo, you're good!
The plot armor on Gi-hun is Vibranium 😅
He would have survived even if he were shooting the last one 😂
Just in case you were worried that it couldn’t possibly be as intense as Season 1.
Seeing these two watching Wicked would be hilarious. Jay knowing every single song and Adam having no clue what's going to happen next.
I’ve been dying for these reactions to start 🎉

You guys are gonna be in for this season! Just wait haha
Glad you guys coming back with S2....warm welcome from korea
I stopped watching the new Skeleton Crew episode so that I could watch this with you. I am full of terrified excitement. Skid Game!!!!!
This pilot episode made me realize that another season for this show was worth it.
My headcannon is that the scene in the park wasn't in the script, it's just what the actor does with his thursday afternoons.
Yaaayyy, I was waiting for your reaction to Squid Game S2!!! You two are adorable, as always.
(Jay, I love your naiiillsss 🔥)
Xoxos from Argentina ❤
Happy New Year Jay and Adam🎉🎉
yes!!! so excited. my mom and i just finished watching last night (we were strong and only watched one a day lol)
I also believed S2 was not necessary and so I set my bar down to avoid getting disappointed but it is great and I love the 1st episode!
Missed you guys reacting to the new season of Squid game!

Where is Skeleton Crew? I was really looking forward to your reactions to the last two episodes!
Should be out this weekend per their community post!
They need a palate cleanser after Squid Game. Between Skeleton Crew and Bluey, hopefully the viewing can be balanced.
