Stirland is the only thing keeping the vampires at bay. Not because of the fighting, but because none of the vampires want to actually step foot into Stirland.

Lore info for people who didn’t read Gotrek and Felix City of the Damned. Not sure if it is still canon but it’s the latest GW/BL news about the city we got after Magnus. Spoilers for anyone who doesn’t want to read the book for themselves. In 2515, Mordheim have been frozen in time for 200 years on the year 2303 a day before Magnus Pius came to purge it. Magnus ordered it after it turns out that there is portal to shadow realm under the Temple of Sigmar from where Belakor may escape his prison and being the End Times. Wizards did it by using power of Chaos Moon who was so damn big it sometimes covered the sky, although Felix could exaggerate since he was in the most corrupted part of Mordheim when he saw that. Gotrek and Felix came to the city in time when Morzanna, a witch born in Mordheim, tried to bring Belakor back to the realm world though use of Avatar like he used to walk the earth as Shadow Lord, chaos champion possessed by Belakor who ruled chaos controlled parts of Mordheim after the meteorite hit the city. Everyone who died in the city and made deal with Belakor is coming back in time just to die over and over again. Even the skaven in the city work for Belakor and have been dying for ages. Those who did not made deal with Belakor turn into shades and ghosts that keep whispering and shouting at the living from the shadow realm where Belakor was keeping their souls trapped. Gotrke and Felix kill the baron who was supposed to keep Mordheim under eternal siege but turned to chaos as he wanted to become the 13th Everchosen instead of Archaon. The portal was closed, he time began to flow once more, with entire city collapsing, rebuilding, burning, collapsing, and rebuilding itself again for ever time it was destroyed. Kinda like trying to speedrun 200 years of destruction. In any case, the city was burning, collapsing apart, spirits were freed to afterlife, Belakor buggred off to Albion. The witch morzanna also survived, as since time was frozen, she existed as a little girl, adult chaos witch, and dead ghost helping Felix to defeat Belakor. Once Belakor was defeated, the little child Morzanna survived the battle and was ordered by Belakor to go to castle Drakenhof. As for the city itself. Everything was destroyed. The Rock was turned into Grid, a small island where native people of Mordheim mutated but still believed in Sigmar and hid there from those who worshipped Belakor. In any case. The book was very mid. The Mordheim was completely destroyed, what I consider a huge waste of great potential. Belakor was behind everything, and it felt more like End Times story rather than Gotrek and Felix novel. Don’t recommend. The biggest monster in the story for Gotrek to kill was huge mutated skaven that kept on coming back to life and existed in several bodies at once because Mordheim was frozen in time.
Ah damn, Mordheim. Why is that game so dang hard? But the atmosphere of it, of the city, really is something else. As is your editing! Holy Sigmar, this was so incredibly immersive. From the maps to the 3D shots of the city, to the subtle background music - especially in that tavern. Simply delightful! Speaking of the maps and all those wonderful artwork, would you happen to have a webpage or something where you share your research and collection of artwork? Also, nice Hero Forge figure at the beginning ;) I like to work with that site as well, have made countless models at this point, even plenty for Warhammer. If you'd like, I can share some, for example I made the Ubersreik 5 of Vermintide, along with most enemies of that game, and a set of Reikland State Troops. If you want something for a future video, it'd be an honor to make something for you guys. :3
Yeah, it is great. I have one complaint though. About Bechafen ... isn't it pronounced like Beckhafen(like the last three letters of TalaBEC)? You know, not Betchafen. Matters not. Such errors only add to the charm. Maybe that's how it's pronounced in Nuln, from where dr.Steffan presumably is. Don't worry. See you in Talabecland!
Thanks a lot! Yes we are definitely visiting Nordland (I'm also looking forward to this one) but we have to make our way there first, going through Talabecland and then the Middle Mountains! 😃👌
Miss the old world lore man. Old world has actual maps and shit with literal famtastical history. Then you got age of sig. No maps just "realms" connected somehow by portals with lizardman traveling through space and rats creating dirt tunnels through space. So damn stupid
I love your Videos, but as a native german this one was grating to my ears. Bechafen is not pronunced like that. It is bec - hafen. Hafen means port in german. Otherwise keep up the good work.
No Problem. The Empire is based on the holy roman empire. So most if not all the names used are "sort of" german. If you keep that in mind it is easier to get the pronounciation right. If you are unsure go for a german one. 😅
I love this guy but I'm still trying to figure out how he doesn't qualify as a biologist and a historian. Technically he's really just anthropologist kind of a master of none/jack of all trades.
Why isn't "empire" capitalized in BL works? I've been reading the Sigmar series and it is never given the respect it deserves. It bothers me everytime I read it.

“At least we aren’t Stirland.”
- A proud Ostermarker seconds before being impaled on the branch of a malevolent treeman
Stirland is so bad that Sigmar's comet smashed into Mordheim rather than that awful place.
Stirlands so awful the chaos gods fear it and the inhabitants living in Stirland
Stirland is the only thing keeping the vampires at bay. Not because of the fighting, but because none of the vampires want to actually step foot into Stirland.
Fairly fitting for my campaign of Drycha which starts in Gryphon Wood which is in Ostermark

Heavy plot armor and company favortisme helps too.
Lol the "Guns, Germs and steel" of the Warhammer world
@@visitingforgefather5997 Company favoritism and plot armor? Are you serious now? You are talking about Chaos my friend and nothing else.
You add so much to the Warhammer experience for fans. Thank you
Thanks a lot for the kind words good sir! 🙌🙏
Let Curiosity be your guide and history be your companion is a really good line, whoever wrote that deserves kudos
An ogre tavern the best place for a selfie with some over friendly patrons. Does the red teeth do birthday parties?

@@TheKaos8 haha indeed. Faced the same problem when covering Bretonnia many moons ago, but those are more French based (pronunciation wise).
@@TheBookofChoyer just checked. Bechafen in fact means Port at Bec. With Bec probably a short form for the river talabec wich runs through the City.
