Ostland truly prospered when it buried the hatchet (literally, in a Beastman's neck) with Kislev. When those two realms work together, they can most effectively protect their people from the Wastes
The shield of the north. Where Chaos has to bloody itself should it try to enter the Empire. The people of Ostland are badasses! Ostland is easily one of my favorite provinces of the Empire.
Fun fact, at least according to Drachenfels novel, no Emperor was ever elected when opposed by the elector of Ostland for mostly two reasons. One. Because of the obvious reasons, many of the Empire's greatest heroes come from Ostland, and two, being so often invaded, most electors support Ostland electors and give them generous gifts so that they don't have to deal with the invasions in their own provinces. Don't be mistaken. Kislev is full with people named Konstantine and Alexander, while Ostlanders are usually Ivan and Gashek. Both drink a lot, but only the latest would do it in the name of Sigmar

I imagine Ostland is a mix of Lithuania, Prussia under the Teutonic Order and Hungary with its sizable Turkic Minority of Cumans creating a diverse and martial culture at the frontiers.
Im leaving a comment here because its completely anonymous but i want to die ive been through hell my entire life ive been in 1 major relationship for 4 years and after she ended it two of my favorite people died ive been fighting this life draining depression for another 4 years im 26a few months ago I met someone who brought me joy that i haven't felt since all those years ago long story short she didn't love me back now im back to square one i don't find happiness in this world and when i look at people in public i cant help but feel disgust i don't want to be here anymore but unfortunately I know theres people that would be devastated if I wasn't here so im just suffering every day until something finally pulls me into the sweet embrace of death im a walking shell of the upbeat funny charismatic and smart person i once was now im just a ghost a walking dead man only living by definition

Ostland means "East-Land" in German. Since it is the most eastern territory in the Empire. The name is actually very fitting.
This channel makes me want to play Vermintide as that's my only framework for Warhammer Fantasy 😅
