      All of those little touches are what make Mordheim so awesome. Like how when a warband captures an enemy, they can ransom them back to the enemy, but the Possessed warband gets to sacrifice them for experience.

    This is pretty cool. I got challenged with Roll 4 Terrain by another RUclipsr and it’s for Mordheim. I never played the game, but I’m hooked about it. I rolled for Smithy and The Alchemist’s Laboratory. I made 3D Terrain for it and making it available for free to download to 3D Print.

    • @kwest9747
      @kwest9747 3 месяца назад

      Mordheim is about supporters of the three pretender’s to the throne of the Empire - the mercenaries are hired to gather miraculous valuable Wyrdstone in support the claim of their respective patron. There is of course a fourth claimant - Von Carstein but he uses undead instead of normal mercenaries. Possessed are followers of the Shadowlord - whose coming was heralded by the wyrdcomet. Sisters are a local Church who try to remove Wyrdstone from the city. The witch hunters showed up to purge evil. Basically all factions are human, except the skaven which are always there under human cities and view warpstone as theirs.
      Dwarfs can be expeditionary and greedy, they aren’t local nor particularly enticed by evil magics as humans are. So dwarfs don’t fit as well into this largely human setting. This is why they aren’t in the base game.
      That said, though there are a good number of dwarfs in the Empire and they can travel down river to Mordheim from their mountain holds. Dwarfs were added as a supplemental warband in their monthly magazine, White Dwarf, and other publications as the first additional warband.

    First of all, congrats on painting all those armies - awesome! But I disagree heartily with your assessment of the rulebook and peeling back the curtain for this vid. I LOVE the rulebook precisely because it's main focus is on atmosphere with all the charts, statblocks and rules needed to run good games and campaigns. What is NEVER discussed in the rulebook is strategy and tactics and especially there is no focus on meta-gaming. To me, this is a positive because playing to win instead of watching your crappy hunchbacked dreg try to be a hero is a bit of a mistake. The randomness of rulesets like this leads to emergent storytelling as your brain has to rationalize what you just witnessed.
    I was lucky enough to get many of the Town Cryer mags, and their focus was first and foremost on making it look like a broadsheet from the Renaissance and they would atmospherically tell tales of Mordheim, Lustria, Khemria, etc. Even when rules and new warbands were introduced, there was little focus on game balance. Again, to me that's a good thing because mathematically balanced games are often stripped of crazy fun rules.

    • @GetTabled
      @GetTabled  3 месяца назад

      Oh don’t get me wrong, I love the flavor and I don’t absolutely need my games to tell me how I should play. But I am a unique position that has me introduce a lot of new players to the game, and there are tons of questions that the rulebook doesn’t have clear answers for. It totally has everything you need in it to play the game, but finding the info you need is not always straightforward and sometimes requires interpretation. Thanks for watching.
