- I flew nearly 1800 miles to attend a narrative Mordheim event with players from all over the world. The event left me changed. Here's my thoughts on my experience at Mordheim 2022, and the lasting impact of the wargaming hobby.

This is peak wargaming IMO. Travel, friends, beautiful boards, and immersive narratives. Watching this got me hyped to keep painting up my Frostgrave and ROS minis/terrain.

Seeing this I got all fuzzy, like when imagining to live a nostalgic moment. I am so sad I couldn't come. These people are wonderful! The organization, tables, warbands look simply stellar.

I've been on the fence about Mordheim for a while, but this event convinced me to take the plunge. I'm gonna build some terrain and boards over the holidays and see if I can get some friends to mess around with it come spring.
Awesome! I think once you play, you'll see that Mordheim is really in a league of it's own.
Tabletop games exist to being people together for a shared experience. The games themselves matter little in the end, it is the folks driving overnight, the folks last minute painting, the folks who sent models across the globe to participate in something they can not and the folks with the organizational skills to bring people together.

@@tabletop.wizards Im working on reviving a new version of my Witch Hunters from 20 years ago when I was still heavily into the hobby. These ones will be heavily converted as I have the time and patience returning to the hobby after this very long hiatus. It will consist of a Witch Hunter Captain (Using Jelsen Darrock miniature as the base), 3 Witch Hunters (Using Galen and Doralia ven Denst and Haskel Hexbane) 3 Warhounds (Using Hexbane's warhounds), Then Zealots and Flagellants (Using Necromunda Cawdor and Redemptionist minatures respectfully). Hopefully I can keep track of my progress on my website to keep record of everything.

My group has been playing Mordheim for the past 4 years as our main game. We recently changed it up but man, Mordheim is so good.
It stands out from the crowd. There is no doubt that it has left such a lasting legacy for a reason!

Great question! They are different! Mordheim is more narrative, more meat and bones, but also a little more complicated rules-wise. Both games have their place!

This was awesome and it also highlights (in contrast) what is bothering me about Warhammer nowday: Warhammer devolves into a almost only tournament game in which all the storytelling and a huge part of the hobby is ignored in order to spam the best netlist and to have a quick win.

I find myself mostly wanting narrative games even when I play at home. I need motivation for THE WHY I am moving models around the table. I want to feel like I'm playing a role in a bigger story.

It may very well be impossible to utterly relinquish the cult programming that warps our value systems. The term "hobby", to my mind, is a way of drawing an artificial delineation between activities, with the intent to diminish the value of those not motivated by material gain.
Remembering that for every dollar of value you "earn", ten are stolen in a variety of ways, it's no wonder that our society is engineered to foster these false beliefs (since the greatest thieves hold the greatest sway over the culture).
It's art, it's storytelling, it's a shared experience. These are fundamental to mankind and far predate the corrupt economics and other power systems that enslave our world.

Not positive where they are all from. Mostly kitbashed I think. I believe the jester character is from Heresy Lab though
What kits can you use to make sisters of sigmar?
The novices were made from AoS witch aelves bodies and female stormcast heads, the regular sisters were 40k Sister Repentia bodies with Frostgrave barbarian hammers, and my Sisters Superiors were 40k Battle Sisters with Stormcast Eternal Annihilators gauntlets, shields and hammers.
Did you use the cavalcade rules for the counts party?
I believe parts were taken and then tweaked where desired.

Nothing in the works yet! But I've been going to the New England Mordheim Open the past few years! That's a great event to attend for a Mordheim fix!
How can I attend the next event!!??
The best way to get invited to private events is to stay active in the Facebook and Instagram Mordheim community year-round, then when invited go out, they know you'd be interested.
There is a public event coming up in March of 2023 in Massachusetts. I think sign ups just opened. A quick Google search should put you in the right direction! Cheers!

@@tabletop.wizards I don't have insider knowledge. though I have a feeling that they tried to do a release timing like Oldmunda and mordheim, things don't always go as planned and that's the date I feel is most possible in the current timeline.
I've never played Mordheim so this isn't coming from bias.
