Henk Poort portrayed Erik in the Netherlands national production of Phantom of the Opera for many years. He knows the role like only a select few. Floor Jansen (YAN-sen) says Henk is one of her musical idols. To be allowed to sing this with him was a dream come true for her. There's the source of the chemistry for this piece.
Most singers sing what they can...Floor sings what she wants.
And nobody...NOBODY...is giving the house band the credit they deserve for being able to nail the Nightwish arrangement note-perfect!
Henk was the Dutch Phantom of the Opera, for a number of years, in the '90s.💜
He's Lloyd Webbers favorite Phantom.

Thank you Gitana! I have never listened to musical theater before in my life. And I know this isn’t really typical of the genre, but DAMNNNNNNNNNN. Both of these guys are awesome. The talent and music is mind blowing, but the part that I loved best was the absolute joy Floor got from doing this. The huge grin after Henkes first growl was priceless. All her dramatic expressions is what made this special for me. I loved your excitement and enthusiasm also. Very special reaction, thanks again. Stay safe

A friend of mine who was familiar with Floor but had not idea who Uncle Henk was, asked me "Wow, what did he do to prepare himself to be such a good Phantom"

Not only did Henk play the Phantom in the '90's, Webber said in an interview that Henk was his favorite Phantom.

Of course across the whole show Floor was totally fangirling, since she had a poster of Henk on the wall as a child. You don't come up through classical music training in the Netherlands and not know who Henk Poort is.

After this program Floor did some solo shows in the Netherlands. Henk was there and they did this song too. And I was there, and was blown away.

Henk was the Phantom in the Dutch version of the play when Floor was growing up and was one of her vocal heroes . This was extremely special for her and you can see it in the performance.

Gave it a thumbs up. Not for the song but for the reaction. I love watching people getting excited about anything. That being said; had it been on another channel it probably wouldn't have been as enjoyable for me. Both of the performers did an outstanding job, so I cant take that away from them. This is good because Henk was the Dutch Phantom and one of Floor's childhood idols. She wanted to sing this with him especially!
And he requested to sing this song with Nightwish on stage. (Actually, he made it a condition to performing this with her). There are two sold out concerts scheduled in Amsterdam for November 2020...

Hello Adelle, you should react to „Dead Boy‘s Poem“ live Buenos Aires 2018. You just scratched the Surface of Nightwish and Floor. You reacted only to ohne NW Song, believe me, thats only the tip of the Iceberg.

Henk Poort was the original Phantom in the Dutch stage version over 30 years ago and was considered by Andrew Lloyd Webber to be the best he ever say playing the part.
What's more, he has been Floor's idol ever since she saw him in the role on stage. She requested him to do this duet with her, and he accepted on the provision he would be allowed to join her on stage to reprise this duet when Nightwish tours the Netherlands. That should be awesome.
To be honest, Henk is passed his prime where it concerns the strength of his vocals, but still is able to give an awesome performance; he even threw in some distortion to please Floor, a vocal technique normally frowned upon in the musical and opera environment which is his normal stomping ground.
BTW writing he is passed his prime is not a slight on his singing abilities but a recognition that with time even the best voices will lose some of their splendour.

Gitana, I’ve watched this reaction several times now and you did an excellent job. One of the things I like to do is see how others react to things I’ve never listened to before. As I said earlier, this was my first foray into Musical Theatre. So, I also went and listened to some of the vocal coaches to help me understand the genre. It’s been a great learning experience. I also heard you say your favorite version was with Sarah Brightman, so I listened to a couple of different versions with her in it. I came to realize just how much Henk brought to the role. The ones I saw with Sarah couldn’t compare. I also have to disagree, I enjoyed Floors version much more. That’s why there are so many versions of great songs, everyone has their own favorite. Thanks for introducing me to this. This version will definitely be added to my playlist. You guys stay safe 👍

Gitana Adelle I became an instant Floor fan after watching this. So much so, I found all 8 episodes of the Beste Zangers 2019 show and watched 6 of them on YT with English subtitles and I had to go to Daily Motion to find the other 2. All of them were great and if you get locked back in with 8 hours to kill, it’s very worth it. And don’t miss Henk singing Sound of Silence Disturbed style for Floor. Just in case (which I can really recommend) you're going to do more of Floor at „Beste Zangers" make sure you take the clips posted by "jenniezelf" on RUclips as she has also included the talking / interviews before and after with english subtitles. The concept of the show is, that on one day all singers sing a song for one of them.
It's a song that is by that singer or a song that means a lot for him / her. So it is very interesting to get to know the story behind each song. And it will help to understand the reactions of the other singers. Floor is singing there in German, Dutch, Spanis and English. Her "Phanom of the Opera" duet with Henk Poort is awesome, isn’t it?!

Can I suggest you react to another song from the same season of Beste Zangers, 'Strong' sung by Emma Heesters. This song was written by Floor in tribute to her mother who suffers from a very painful condition. Floor has a very powerful reaction to Emma's singing and I guarantee that you will not be able to keep your eyes dry.
The best clip to watch is the one on the 'jenniezelf' channel because this begins with Floor's explanation for writing the song. (There are English subtitles.)

Henk Poort is a Dutch actor and singer, who mainly plays in operas and musicals. Major roles include Erik in the Dutch version of The Phantom of the Opera
Years later but... if this is your favorite song ever, check out Nightwish doing a cover of this, with their original singer. I love Floor, and this was amazing, but that Nightwish cover is my favorite version of this song ever, due in large part to Nightwish's musical presence and Marko... but Tarja is amazing in her own right. You have to check it out! Best version ever, imho.
Thank God! One of the few reactors to call it a musical. A lot of people call it an opera pretty much because of the name of the song. It's stupid, but for some reason, it drives me crazy.
Andrew Lloyd Webber stated that Henk Poort wan one of his favourite Phantoms. Henk played this role for many years in the Netherlands.

Fyi Hank is one of the original Netherlands Phantoms. Also did you know the that Andrew Loyd Webber created the music/character around the vocal talent of Sarah Brightman. Oh yeah..he did.

The Phantom is inside Christine's mind, he doesn't exist, in other words Christine is insane, the Phantom is her driving herself to become better. Floor's portrayal of Christine in this is incredible, she is flirting, (outrgeously) with a figment of her imagination.Henk, poor guy doesn't stand a chance at winning, after all he doesn't exist except in Christine's mind.

Like you, in my opinion, nothing tops Sarah Brightman and Michael Crawford performing this song live. One of the most profound musical moments in my life and, therefore, their performance holds a special and significant meaning that would be practically impossible to displace.
HOWEVER, this is the 2nd best rendition, to me, hands down! 💜👍

Ah so much Of Floor on Beste Zangers (Best Singers) Treat yourself to the song "Winner" By Floor, Written by Tim Akkerman for his brother who is confined to a wheelchair. you will know who Tim is when you watch the video. They are all very good singers and they sing each others songs, I loved the show. If you love Phantom of the Opera, check Nightwish doing it, from the End of an Era tour with their original singer Tarja ruclips.net/video/9kjmjkKjXo8/видео.html , THAT is completely different, would LOVE to see you react to that version, that's why it sounded a bit different when Floor was doing it, they did more of an arrangement used by Nightwish for the song as opposed to the original arrangement, which is why Henk was growling etc.
