Can you help us?" Floor: "Yes." Tuomas: "Great! What genres can you sing?" Floor: "Yes." Tuomas: "Well, what era of our catalogue can you sing?" Floor: "Yes." Tuomas: "Can you learn the setlist in only 48 hours?" Floor: "Yes." Beste Zangers: "How many languages can you sing in?" Floor: "Yes." ]
When the duet aired about a year ago it basically broke the internet. Now a year later it has over 10 million views! Henk was the original Dutch phantom back in the day. He was also Floor’s idol when she was a teenager. So singing with him was a dream come true for her. And yes you are right. Where most singers sing what they can, Floor sings what she wants. She can do anything from opera to death growls. Try her cover of lady Gaga’s Shallow from the same show! Both delicate and very powerful. Even Gaga herself loved her rendition 😍
@@IvysPoison1987 Yes Henk said on the show that he agreed to it on condition that he could do it on stage with Nightwish in their Netherlands gigs, although that might have been changed to doing it on Floors solo gigs that followed the success of Beste Zangers. For "Delicate-Floor", like other people said before me - search her rendition of "Shallow" on the same "Beste Zangers" show. Indeed, she can do any-freakking-thing with her voice! Whatever this Lady touches, it's her song, not the original singer's anymore, everyone knows that! :-)
Great reaction guys. The concept of this show is that 7 singers from different genres are gathered together and each week 1 singer is highlighted and the others have to perform either cover versions of the highlighted singer's catalogue or songs that meant something to that highlighted singer. This was from the last episode where the singers had to do duets with another of the singers. In total Floor sang 7 different songs, in 4 different languages, in 8 performances (she sang one song twice. Once solo and once as a duet). Floor actually sang the first and last songs on the show, The Phantom being the show closer. At the time, Floor was relatively unknown in her native Netherlands and she absolutely stunned everyone every week with her outstanding performances. Here are the songs she sang; 1. Vilja Lied - an Aria from The Mery Widow in German 2. Mama - in Dutch 3. Que Se Siente - in Spanish 4. About Love I Don't Know A Thing - in English 5. Shallow - in English 6. Winner - in English 7. Shallow - as a duet with Tim Ackerman in English 8. Unless you've trained and really know how to do it properly, distortion can damage one's voice. It's fun that he put the effort though.
@@notquitemytempo1353 I think the fact that very few people in the Netherlands knew Floor and the way she sang Vilja Lied for him impressed him and they became good friends. Floor tells a story of taking her dog for a walk and hearing it barking and a Moose came by her being chased by a dog and she was on the phone with Henk at the time and she had to hang up on him to chase the dog and the moose, which sounds like a good comedy sketch.

Yay, you did it! I knew you'd love that one. Just had a look through the comments and every suggestion is good, as I've come to expect. The rest of Beste Zangers 2019 is a good showcase for Floor's range, and the performances of the other singers are good too: it's a really good, wholesome show, without any of the manufactured drama of most TV talent shows/competitions. The TV company only put up these vids of the actual songs, which are clipped a bit short, but other people have put up vids of the whole episodes complete with English subtitles, where you get the pre- and post-song chats.
Absolutely! The solo version of Shallow she does is an amazing display of being delicate and powerful at the same time. The duo with Tim Ackerman she does on a later episode is a more standard rendition of the song, but also very, very good. .
Floor is one of those people that found her calling. Could you imagine if she was a real estate agent or CPA or sitting at some desk somewhere, typing her days away? in the show beste zangers, they called henk poort ''Uncle Henk'' because he is like the sweet funny uncle at parties. and he is way older then all of the other people there. but when he started singing, he always sounds so professional and serious. Its amazing because the moment he stops singing he laughs at the people on the couches and he starts cracking jokes again.
Thank you for reacting to Floor and Henk singing the Metal Version of Phantom of the Opera! Glad you enjoyed it! Floor also sings English language songs "Shallow" in a duet with Tim Akkerman, or "Winner", and in Dutch, "Vilja lied". Of course if you'd prefer Spanish, she does an outstanding version of "Que Se Siente". Pour a nice glass of wine (or your personal favorite for relaxing) and enjoy these deeply revealing performances by Floor Jansen in the intimate setting of the Beste Zanger set.
J Zundert--You are absolutely correct, and thanks for mentioning her performance of "Mama"...we just might need another glass of wine to enjoy them all.
Ok... now Shoemaker is a must!! Sadly there are no live performances for that song because it's from the new album and the plague hasn't let them do show but still.... a gorgeous song, my fav in fact. Thanks for your reactions, you guys look gorgeous!
Rocking for a musical? You haven't seen anything yet! While you're thinking of the musical, what is great to know is that this is the Nightwish arrangement of the song. They decided to cover this song, as it appeared with this arrangement on their 2002 album "Century Child." It is more known for them performing it live at the show "End of an Era", with their original singer, Tarja Turunen. As everyone has already filled you in as to how Floor performed this with Henk, what is also big about this is with Henk being Floor's idol, Floor asked Henk if she could perform this with him, as he played the Phantom in the Dutch production of the musical. Henk agreed, on the condition that he would get to perform this song with Nightwish when they tour through the Netherlands. That show is still on their world tour schedule.
Great reaction Ginger and Mike! Every time I listen to it (or watch it) it is GREAT :) Ginger, your pronunciation of 'besteZangers' was spot on, well done! You may find that this particular season of besteZangers has some more enjoyable performances to watch.
Like many others, you’ve realized the band and singer who can take your channel to new heights if you come across genuine to the army. So far, so good.
in another dutch tv show Floor also sang "o mio babbino caro" beautifully, while in this one she sang "shallow", "winner" and "vilja lied" and Henk Poort sang "sound of silence" for her
Henk is a world-class long time performer of Phantom. He added distortion to this performance in honor of Floor's background. He also performed Disturbed's version of Sound of Silence on this series.
Also look at "O mio Babbino caro" from the programme " de tiende van tijl"( Tijl"s Tenth). awesome performance bij floor when she was younger..great reaction again. loved it. Greetings from the netherlands.
Floor is over 6' tall, her husband is about 6'5" and he is the drummer for the metal band Sabaton. She is referred to as the Valkyrie Goddess, which is a perfect name. Love her. Love Nightwish and listen to them every day.
Henk used to play the Phantom(think it was in the Netherlands), he added the growl part at the end which is usually a big No No for opera singers. Henk was one of Floor's inspirations growing up. In the same show Floor said she loved the Disturbed cover of The Sound of Silence. So Henk does it as a dedication to Floor. Also on the show she does the song Shallow with Tim. Both really worth a look
That BIG laugh from Floor at 4:29 is when Henk surprises her with some grade of growling, referring to the [metal] approach the band had chosen. Also, Nightwish had this song, but in a metal pace, that is played here too.
If you want delicacy, or just to check out Floor's versatility, try all her other performances from this Dutch TV programme. It's a great format, and Floor sings some incredible stuff.
Check out Beste Zangers. She shows her softer side and more of her incredible range on a variety of songs she sings over the course of the 2019 season.
@@anskamp4780 euh yes they can ;) Nightwish back up sound was the origin of this remake, and Marco is 10 times the singer of Henk (even though he has a fantastic voice) for the role of the phantom !
@@Thegreb666 you have a point that they used the music of Nightwish , but about the performance lets agree to disagree , for me personal this one touches me way more then the version of Nightwish !
@@anskamp4780 If you listen closely to their comment in the video, the women says that she's blown away by Floor and that she's always looked more at the girl's part than the guy who sings the phantom's part. I think it s because she has never heard Marco sing that part. So my point stand in the way I just outlined that she should watch it for Marco's performance ! ;) In my own opinion I want to see floor sing it with Marco live lol
Floor has done opera: Oh mio Babbino Caro, it is on RUclips. For a Dutch tv show. Also she did a classic opera piece with Epica, live. I think it is called Stabat Matar Delarosa or something like that. For delicate floor; check out Strong or Bridle Passion from her recent solo tour (2019). For powerful Floor, check out nightwish Yours is an Empty hope, Ever Dream, Ghost River (Wacken 2013) or 7 days to the wolves, Weak Fantasy (Wembley). Enjoy the ride!
HI Mike and Ginger, Thanks for the reactions. Just discovered you guys and have enjoyed your reactions so far. Sorry if I'm a little late to the party and excuse me if someone else has already mentioned it. So, Beste Zangers translates to "Best Singers" is a Dutch seasonal television show that features different well known artists, all those folks sitting on the couches. They perform songs for each other and often each others songs. The upbeat version of this song is from the Nightwish realm and one that they often perform on tour. Henk plays the Phantom on stage in the Netherlands. Henk and Floor both are fans of each other so they had a great time performing this version together. Floor performs many different songs in several languages on this show throughout the season. She is an extremely talented singer and as many before me have mentioned, Floor sings what she wants. I know we are all looking forward to both of you discovering more on your Nightwish journey.
Henk was a role model of Floors growing up so this was a real treat for her. He had never used distortion in his voice before this show but did ut to rock it up just for her :)
Check out Henk Poort joining Floor live on stage for a song - Sweet Curse - from her band Revamp. Their relationship after this show is a joy. And yes, Floor can do anything she wants to do.
Floor is a classically trained soprano. If you like opera, there is a video you should check out of her singing Puccini's "O mio babbino caro" on Dutch tv in 2013.
Floor absolutely nails it but so does Henk. That last "sing for me " was so powerful it was picked up by both microphones which created a slight reverb effect.
Nightwish also performed this song with their first, classically trained, operatic vocalist Tarja Turunen. This version with Floor is an adaptation to that version. Henk Poort is a classical baritone opera singer, with many opera's, operetta's and musicals under his belt. For years Henk was the original Phantom in the Dutch production of the Phantom of the Opera, and a childhood idol to Floor. Even Sir Andrew Lloyd Webber supposedly once said that Henk was one of his favorite Phantoms. As for Floor, she's also able to sing very small, soft and tender. From this same TV show, Beste Zangers 2019, she did two versions of Lady Gaga's Shallow, one solo and one duet. Since you love opera, Floor sings a heavier adaptation of Vilja Song (Vilja Lied in Dutch). Well worth checking out.
@@ralfmeyer9086 You need to fall in battle for a valkirie takes you to Valhalla. so i guess the Floor's option is better . So she can sing more Tuomas amazing songs and we all happy .
Henk was the original Phantom in the Netherlands, and one of Andrew Lloyd Weber's favorite Phantoms. He is also Floor's childhood heroes. She blew him away doing this show, and he did the metal growl just for her. That's why she had a big reaction....imagine, on national TV, your hero gives a tribute to YOUR talent. Can''t buy moments like that... As for Floor herself...may singers sing what they can, what is comfortable. Floor sings whatever the hell she wants to sing. I mean, I've heard her do....anything, everything. There is a RUclips vid of her doing an aria from Puccini...O mio babbina caro. Ginger may like that....
Floor can sing pretty much whatever she wants. Of course, you know of Nightwish which I recommend, but In Beste Zangers 2019 she sings everything from opera (the Vilja Liet), to metal, country, pop, musicals, salsa, and everything in between. She sings in English, German, Spanish, and Dutch. The other singers on the couch are also very very good. I recommend the entire season. A couple of you tubers, jenniezelf and Denise Hofs, have provided entire episodes with English subtitles.
Awesome reaction guys! Yes, she does an amazing Puccini - O Mio Babbino Caro, on a Dutch television program. Will melt your brain. Also, for an incredibly beautiful performance with Nightwish, try either Sleeping Sun live in Tampere 2015, or Dead Boy’s Poem live in Buenos Aires 2018. Vocal insanity. Of course, ALL of her other performances from that 2019 season of Beste Zangers are mind-blowing. Enjoy!
I absolutely loved Beste Zangers a friendly Dutch singing contest, the format of the show: all of the people you can see in this video are singers and each week one singer stays on the couch and watches the other singers sing their songs, episode 4 was Floor's time on the couch, the other singers sang Nightwish songs and songs from Floors past and songs that were important to Floor. The stand out performances for me were from Emma Heesters (the young blond woman) and Samantha Steenwijk Emma sang a song that Floor wrote with her old band 'After Forever' an emotional song about her Mother's constant pain from arthritis, Emma was incredible: Emma Heesters sings Strong for Floor Jansen Beste Zangers 2019 Eng. Subs Samantha sang the Nightwish song 'Our decades in the sun' in Dutch, what a voice!: Samantha Steenwijk - Ik ben altijd dicht bij jou | Beste Zangers 2019
@@watchtheskies I know It's just me nitpicking.. I just don't like the word contest in combination with beste zangers... 😁 they choose a favourite that's about it...
Thanks for your fine reaction. So honest and so pretty to watch and hear. Floor is Dutch (I am too, and very proud). You want to hear Floor in a delicate song, well listen to her interpretation of Shallow. Also "Beste zangers 2019" Thanks again
*The show's band used the more rock-sounding arrangement by Nightwish's mastermind Tuomas Holopainen. This arrangement is also known from the cover-track "The Phantom of the Opera", which you can find on Nightwish's studio-album "Century Child"....*
Great reaction! Enjoyed it! And Floor is the best singer I know. For delicate listen to Dead Boy’s Poem, the 2018 Buenos Aires concert. Thanks for the review

The 2nd song at their Tampere concert, "Yours Is An Empty Hope" which is at 7:05 during the full concert posted on a special "Premier Video Stage 2" page on my website, www.genobondo.com/premier-video-on-stage-2-in-the-spotlight.html . Great reaction. I'm going to subscribe because I can't imagine you are not going to do the rest of the performances on this show. Especially now you are wondering if Floor can sing more delicate. Yes she can as written in all the comments below.
For a completely different side of Floor: „Yours an empty hope“ from Wembley. And have a close look who‘s singing what. From their new album I can strongly suggest to listen to the lyric video of „Shoemaker“ (about Eugene Shoemaker) which is such a heavenly and epic song with the most epic possible ending. And an operatic part as well.
Floor Jansen is of the Alien Race called the Dutch. A long time ago we descended from the skies and created a land called the Netherlands. About her height. Compared to normal humans, on average we are slightly taller . So for example Floor is 6.1. Other well known dutch people are, Simone Simons, Sharon den Adel, Anneke van Giersbergen. Recently another known dutchman went back to the home world. He was named Eddie van Halen.
If you want more Opera from Floor you need to listen to Shoemaker from their latest album, the end is spectacular. Also Henk Poort was the Phantom in the Netherlands, hence he sounds good. And he is also one of the singers Floor admired when growing up.

Floor's tribute song to Henk Poort on Beste Zangers is also great. It was the 1st performance of Beste Zangers 2019.
Like many others, you’ve realized the band and singer who can take your channel to new heights if you come across genuine to the army. So far, so good.
From this same show, Floor has sung 'Shallow', very delicate!
in another dutch tv show Floor also sang "o mio babbino caro" beautifully, while in this one she sang "shallow", "winner" and "vilja lied" and Henk Poort sang "sound of silence" for her
Watch all of her stuff from the show. It’s incredible!!!!!! She killed it.
Henk is a world-class long time performer of Phantom. He added distortion to this performance in honor of Floor's background. He also performed Disturbed's version of Sound of Silence on this series.
Oh, Floor does delicate beautifully. Check out her other Best Zangers performances!
Great reaction👍👍
She does another 6 performances on Beste Zangers.
Kind regards from the Netherlands and stay healthy ❤
Also look at "O mio Babbino caro" from the programme " de tiende van tijl"( Tijl"s Tenth). awesome performance bij floor when she was younger..great reaction again. loved it. Greetings from the netherlands.
Shallow from the same show. Magical!
You really should see the song he sang especially for her in the program. The sound of silence. I think you'll love it.
Henk played the Phantom for many years in the Dutch version of Phantom, he also was in Les Mis.
If you want delicacy, or just to check out Floor's versatility, try all her other performances from this Dutch TV programme. It's a great format, and Floor sings some incredible stuff.
I got to see The Phantom of the Opera at the Pantages Theatre in Toronto as well. Fantastic!!!!!!!!
Check out Beste Zangers. She shows her softer side and more of her incredible range on a variety of songs she sings over the course of the 2019 season.
You should watch the phantom of the opera by nightwih live at end of an Era.
Marco the bassit & singer is the best Phantom you'll ever hear ! ;)
No no , that can't be , the best version they have just experienced right now in this video !
@@anskamp4780 euh yes they can ;)
Nightwish back up sound was the origin of this remake, and Marco is 10 times the singer of Henk (even though he has a fantastic voice) for the role of the phantom !
i think that was the first song she listen to so she knows nightwish
@@Thegreb666 you have a point that they used the music of Nightwish , but about the performance lets agree to disagree , for me personal this one touches me way more then the version of Nightwish !
@@anskamp4780 If you listen closely to their comment in the video, the women says that she's blown away by Floor and that she's always looked more at the girl's part than the guy who sings the phantom's part.
I think it s because she has never heard Marco sing that part.
So my point stand in the way I just outlined that she should watch it for Marco's performance ! ;)
In my own opinion I want to see floor sing it with Marco live lol
Floor has done opera: Oh mio Babbino Caro, it is on RUclips. For a Dutch tv show. Also she did a classic opera piece with Epica, live. I think it is called Stabat Matar Delarosa or something like that. For delicate floor; check out Strong or Bridle Passion from her recent solo tour (2019). For powerful Floor, check out nightwish Yours is an Empty hope, Ever Dream, Ghost River (Wacken 2013) or 7 days to the wolves, Weak Fantasy (Wembley). Enjoy the ride!
Floor and Marko sing Ava Maria, it's beautiful.
Also Marko does a phantom like no other.
Floor does EVERYTHING!
That dude is a professional opera singer and played the phantom in the Dutch production of the phantom of the opera
The thunder in the beginning is realt, there was a storm raging outside. You can see the rain coming in. And they used Nightwhish's arrangement.
Thank you, Goldy! And great to have you along ❤️ - G
Nightwish's song Shoemaker is one of the best examples of what she is capable of. In the last third she shows what she has in opera singing...💝💝💝
That's it. I've seen enough and subbed. Can't wait for more Nightwish and Floor reactions in the future
Welcome! 🤜🏻🤛🏻 - G
Literally was waiting for this reaction. Never clicked play so fast.
😅 we aim to please! - G
@@MikeandGinger can't wait to see more reactions :)
For more a more delicate performance check out "Shallow" on this same show or the acoustic version of "How's the Heart" (Planet Rock Acoustic)
FLOOR, is the real Christine, not a little lady, for the Phantom. She dominant him. Our VALKYRIE
A dutch valkyrie , great
@@klaymor73 yep..she is my ,in german, Sünde. And i love it..🤗from northern germany
@@ralfmeyer9086 well, a sünde is funnier than a valkyrie :)
@@klaymor73 A Yalkiriey brings you to Valhalla. And it was funny. ? Yes🤗 But not Floor, i want hear here in my Lifetime
Another delicate Floor song that doesn't get much notice is the Nightwish performance of "Sleeping Sun", live in Tampere
The stand out performances for me were from Emma Heesters (the young blond woman) and Samantha Steenwijk
Emma sang a song that Floor wrote with her old band 'After Forever' an emotional song about her Mother's constant pain from arthritis, Emma was incredible:
Emma Heesters sings Strong for Floor Jansen Beste Zangers 2019 Eng. Subs
Samantha sang the Nightwish song 'Our decades in the sun' in Dutch, what a voice!:
Samantha Steenwijk - Ik ben altijd dicht bij jou | Beste Zangers 2019
It’s not a contest!
Not a contest, it's more like a big jam session 😁
@@suzettebakelaar like I said it was a 'friendly' contest, the person on the couch picked the one they liked the best each week
@@watchtheskies I know It's just me nitpicking.. I just don't like the word contest in combination with beste zangers... 😁 they choose a favourite that's about it...
@@suzettebakelaar They also chose an overall favourite for the whole thing, we all know who that was 😁
Thanks for your fine reaction. So honest and so pretty to watch and hear.
Floor is Dutch (I am too, and very proud).
You want to hear Floor in a delicate song, well listen to her interpretation of Shallow. Also "Beste zangers 2019"
Thanks again
She is the one.... And on that final note, I think even cats jumped off the couches😂
For a treat look up Floor Jansen and Marko Hietala, Bassist for Nightwish doing Ave Maria or Floor doing O Mio Babbino from Puccini
Take a look at Floor Jansen - Puccini: O mio babbino caro for Floor doing some true opera. It's a beautiful performance.
*The show's band used the more rock-sounding arrangement by Nightwish's mastermind Tuomas Holopainen. This arrangement is also known from the cover-track "The Phantom of the Opera", which you can find on Nightwish's studio-album "Century Child"....*
Great pronunciation,Ginger.Nice Reaction,thx.
Mike is now MY Spirit Animal.
Play Shallow from this same program to see Floor's soft side
Phantom is pure amazing 🤩
Great reaction! Enjoyed it! And Floor is the best singer I know. For delicate listen to Dead Boy’s Poem, the 2018 Buenos Aires concert. Thanks for the review
Just a reminder, Floor doing Sancta Terra with Simone front singer for/with Epica. They harmonize perfectly, operatic with metal band, orchestra, choir and lights and plenty of action. Guaranteed no disappointment. ruclips.net/video/2rwfqsjimRM/видео.html . Previous comment I saw mentions she can growl. The 2nd song at their Tampere concert, "Yours Is An Empty Hope" which is at 7:05 during the full concert posted on a special "Premier Video Stage 2" page on my website, www.genobondo.com/premier-video-on-stage-2-in-the-spotlight.html . Or can view that specific clip from that same concert at this link, ruclips.net/video/Aa5qmUl0zQA/видео.html .
Great reaction. I'm going to subscribe because I can't imagine you are not going to do the rest of the performances on this show. Especially now you are wondering if Floor can sing more delicate. Yes she can as written in all the comments below.
Thanks for the sub! We're sure to do more as time goes by. -M
For a completely different side of Floor:
„Yours an empty hope“ from Wembley.
More Beste Zangers please🙏🙏Thank You ❤🙋🏼♀️😘
If you want more Opera from Floor you need to listen to Shoemaker from their latest album, the end is spectacular.
Also Henk Poort was the Phantom in the Netherlands, hence he sounds good. And he is also one of the singers Floor admired when growing up.
Hank is actually one of the most renown people to play the phantom on stage
Oh, yes! I'd been waiting to see the two of you react to this one. Good one. You should also check out Floor singing Vilja Lied from this same show. You will not be disappointed. :-)
Oh yes my favorite version!
We all love Floor !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Epica is now a must
Epica's always a must! 🤘😁🤘
