A fantastic video just shows how useful the TBL tractors are and mighty impressive, more skill in moving large objects correctly and safely than driving at speed any time, these are the big boy's toys.
i have to say seeing a push back from the worlds largest passenger jet from this view is amazing....i wish Wilbur and Orville wright were here to see this 400 ton jet........AMAZING
At YVR we still do it the old fashion way, tug and tow bar and back the planes off the gates Hoping one day for the tow bar less tug, lol Nice clear video

Reverser inop is quite common and you still need a tug in that case; not to mention the debris that can be blown back to the terminal if you doing power reverse. I am not even sure if power reserve is certified in the FCOM
@@dennischen6127 Some T-tail aircraft like the MD80 etc. have been known to use powerback instead of a tug at times especially in the USA, however as you mention the risk of FOD being blown at the terminal, ground crew and other airport vehicles outweighs its benefits, not to mention the possibility of the engine ingesting FOD and blasting it at the plane fuselage if the engines are wing-mounted like most aircraft when reverse thrust is used, hence why it is often reduced to idle at 70kts and then stowed off at 60kts during landing.
The tug operators have a pin, that they insert in to the Steering column which effectively cuts off the ability to steer from anything except the tug. Its called a Bypass pin. Disconnects the steering from the plane itself. There are some videos that show push back, where the technician has to physically walk out and display the pin to the pilots that the "Bypass" pin has been removed. Otherwise the pilots start taxiing and then wonder why they cannot steer. ruclips.net/video/1qgTUml5ybc/видео.html&t=590
A "super tug" as it is called lifts the nose. A regular tug uses a tow bar. Not all operators have super tugs and use the good old tug and tow bar method.
It's usually to keep taxiway Alpha free as it can get pretty busy with aircraft going to and from the international and low cost terminals. If you go and park a big A380 on it for 5mins it will create quite the traffic jam.
they groove the tires so that if it rains the wet can pass through the tire to prevent skidding so that the tire makes contact with the runway upon landing just like a car tires in many ways except dragster tires are different

Fantastic job, it is amazing moving the beautiful plane. Thank you for your fine job.
Always good to see behind the scenes! In my opinion, you have a dream job! Thanks so very much for filming & sharing.

AWESOME VANTAGE POINT & VIDEO, that's one Heavy bird to push back!!
This is so cool. Thank you for giving Us an insider's View to what happens during Push back of an A380-842. The sounds of the Engines, just awesome.
Glad you enjoyed it!
@@TigerDusty is the plane being lifted or is the tug compressing the shocks of the nose gear
@@johntanswell4809 The tug lifts the nose wheel.
The Humble Tug is my favourite piece of airport equipment!!!
It is incredible how a humble little tug has the power to actually lift the nose of something as massive as an A380 and then push it back
emercycrite
Yeah! Just kidding my brother thinks its a lifehack :D
emercycrite Its not a little tug.
It's not little it's bigger than you think there's smaller tugs than this and but they push back smaller planes but still very big planes.
@@diamondbros6446 I think the little tugs he thinks are the ones we use to tow around the dollies? Little diesel two seaters...

That is a hell of size for the engine.

seems during pushback the front wheel has to hold more pressure than during landing
So this is what a viral video looks like! :D Well done Rob.

Absolutely awesome perspective of a380. You are a tug driver, or you asked Qantas to be an observer onboard the tug?
I was the tug driver.

It's first time for me to know that the plane raised from the ground during pushback
ehab elkhamry its not raised
It is, the nose gear is raised off the ground.

Has the A 380 ever been used strictly for hauling cargo?
Not as far I know, but Airbus are looking at it??????

just add wear indicator like race tires
The name "Pushback" is fully deserved.

Why can't an aircraft move backwards using low power reverse thrust?
