- Our live cover of "Bit Crusher (Shinjuku)" from Tekken 4, originally composed by Satoru Kosaki. This arrangement by Patrick Bartley. Recorded live at Black Cat LES in New York, NY on December 1, 2019.
HAPPY 25TH ANNIVERSARY, TEKKEN!!!
We love Tekken so much, and Tekken 2 was actually my (Pat) first ever fighting game back in 1999. Since then, life has never been the same, in the best possible way. When deciding on a theme for this month, it came down to a lot of decisions - but when we saw that Tekken, one of the most influential and best selling fighting game franchises of all time, was having its 25th anniversary this week, there was no way we could ignore that. This track in particular comes from a lot of people's first Tekken game, Tekken 4, which was the series' first foray into next-gen 3D graphics on the PlayStation 2. This song is such a jam, so we just had to do it; there's nothing else deeper behind that. We got the whole gang busting out on this one, with amazing tech-heavy electrics from Ben Rosenblum on accordion, powerful, inescapable wall combos from trumpet and sax, and frame-perfect 10+, 20+, heck, 50+ HIT COMBO strings from Norman Edwards on drums. It's a party y'all. Who was your main in this game? Any Tekken game?

I cannot describe just how HARD I would absolutely lose my SHIT if I was in some joint and the live band just whipped out Bit Crusher like this. I would SCREAM.
better if two ppl stage fightin like the game
Me too 😂
Oh it would go off!!!!
Tekken 4 IMO had the best music in all Tekken games. When I think of Tekken 4, I think of how stylish the game was from music to the stages; It has a lot of balance and gameplay issues, but it's still my favorite Tekken game.
4 and 5 had fantastic music. Uninhabited and Kitsch are my favs from 4 whereas Snow Castle and Moonlit Wilderness are my favs from 5
@@PunkDisciple23 Sadly 6 and 7 doesn't really have too memorable music, it's more on the line of being just serviceable; For the most part
@@boxtupos7718 electric fountain, lightning storm, anger of the earth, urban war zone, fallen colony and the character select music in tekken 6 is so fricking good. Also in my opinion the tekken 2 soundtrack might be the best.
Yes.
I wholeheartedly agree. Each stage had a different mood and tone musically. I loved that soundtrack.
I thought the sax solo was killer and then my man the drummer said hold eff on. Wow.
Man every time I watch these videos I want to get back into drumming . The guy on on drums is what I aspire to be as a drummer
Norman Edwards, that's his name, is cool as heck
For me it's Patrick Bartley, the saxophonist. Been a while since I played, and man I want to get back to it hearing this.
I want to play like him too, he plays fast
I aspire to be as skilled as the shadow of any of these guys
It's crazy that they can keep this going for 10 minutes without breaking the spell. Real musicianship right there.
This hits different after Kazuya got in Smash! So well done!
For real, I had to come back when Kazuya came out
Yes!! Fighting game songs!!
If I may make a couple suggestions:
Marvel Vs. Capcom 2 - Clock Tower
Dragonball fighterz - Hits theme
Under night in birth - Night Walker or Snow Sisters
Tekken 7 - Infinite Azure
Y'all slayed as always, not familiar with this particular song but it sounded dope
Thanks as always!

Garou: Mark of the Wolves--Sunrise On The Train (Terry Bogard Theme)

Art of Fighter 3: THE WHOLE SOUNDTRACK
Well, you may like a video on my channel ;)
Nice, looks like this was taken as a to do list lol.
Tekken 2 - Paul's Theme.
That was a garbage track. This band can save it.
Norman Edwards has "controlled aggression" as his drumming mantra. Kudos to such a sweat-inducing performance.
Norman absolutely popping off here!
Energy like this is so rare holy crap. Keep it up guys. This is insane.
I was a cheap shot with any of the Gun Jack's.
But I loved maining Yoshimitsu. Dr B. in Tekken 3 and still missing the little guy Gon.
Mishima style Jin / Kazuya was a classic favorite.
Thank you! Omg Gon lmao
Still listening and jamming while playing Tekken 8 in 2024 ❤❤
Yes!! Tekken 4 Bit Crusher! One of my favorite songs ever!
This superb drummer hits like a maching gun! Congrats! absolutely brillhant!
*smiles in Kazuya Mishima*
amazing cover, here's to many years more.
shinjuku is such a sick stage, kid me loved that entire game. a lot of the stages have such a good energy to them. competitively it was a hell because everyone picked jin and did just frame laser scraper. some picked steve, others even picked nina, and kazuya did some insane combos too. but it was mostly jin. and everyone ran the hills because those give advantages.ceilings were a thing too, that must've been hell. in shinjuku you could do some sick combos if you hit them at those 3 telephone booths.
but this i only learned like 5 years ago, and kid me just mashed buttons and saw pretty stuff happening. i loved those stages and im still not a competitive fighting game player. i like flavour. tekken 7 needed more of that good single player experience. give me tekken force back pls harada.
C H I C K E N
*glug glug* fists get blue aura
Best Tekken 4 stage theme ever
Why is your pfp the Kanji for fire
@@safir2241 Fire's my favorite element, good sir.
Great example of why jazz is so awesome, you can listen to the same song a dozen times over and it'll always be 'unique', for the most part.
I can't help but grin watching this. Nice work
The drummer is a legend, this group is tight!
The cleanest, keep it up y'all. I'd love to see you guys do more fighting game sessions
Killing it as usual Pat and Acoustic Gang! I am making plans to see the potential January Black Cat session!
It was a mistake to put this on when I was trying to work - but I put it on loop anyway ;) Simply stunning!
One of my favorite tracks from tekken 4
Omggggg PLEASE do “airport touch and go” stage”!!!!!!! This was amazing by the way
Authentic sky would be amazing as well
imagine someone gets into a bar fight and the live band starts playing this song.
Congrats dudes, that was pure fire, loads of energy!
Well this was unexpected! More amazing surprise covers like this are appreciated!
Amazing! MOAR TEKKEN PLZ
i keep coming back to this vid, its so good bro omg
Jeez that drumming is intense
Best fighting game stage song ever. Great job guys!
Always come back to this with goosebumps like it’s the 1st time watching and listening
AMAZING WORK! I booted up Tekken 4 for the first time in a LONG TIME just about 2 weeks ago -- just about the time you guys uploaded this! Went straight to Arcade mode and the first stage was this one. The memories came rushing back, I got goosebumps. Love this OST. Again, awesome work guys! Long live video game music!
you are so awesome and this music is so great
the combination... is unbelievable
I smiled so much during this vid my face hurts. Amazing!!!!
love this games soundtrack, its nice to see this game finally get some covers
This is everything I could ask for today 💚
Tekken 4 is my jam and this song is probably my favourite, amazing hearing this live, thank you my friends. Also I really like what you did for the "lyrical" parts taha ; )
Have you done any KOF/Fatal Fury themes before? I would love to see "Stormy Saxophone" or "Soy Sauce for Geese" at some point in the future.
I was thinking "Sadistic Eyes" from 99
"Kurikinton", "Esaka" or "Spread the Wings" would be wonderful as well.
i think you got lucky.
they uploaded stormy right after your post:

Toooooooooooo much that y'all chose a song from Tekken 4. Absolutely inSANEly talented
Ever consider doing (one of the various) Stormy Saxophone(s)?
These are great! Fun to jam along too!
This is so awesommme
This is all kinds of good!
This slaps hard!
Patrick is RIPPING!!! So much Cannonball in there too. Love it
amazing cover!
This shit go harder than concrete, hot damn. I keep coming back to it and am amazed every time. Fucking masterful. Beautiful!
This is like the definitve version of theme
If we had Tekken 8 and had like a Bar stage in side a club id wana put this one the theme house
keep it up guys much love
Pure greatness
The drummer stole the show man incredible stuff
This video be good vibes.
Just stumbled onto these videos and WOW!! Crazy talent, guys!
I'd like to hear maybe Capcom vs SNK 2: Wicked Fight.
Nostalgic 🔥🔥💪🏾💪🏾💯💯
amazing!!! ....
This was always my favorite song in Tekken 4 and you guys rocked it, they should remake this stage in Tekken 8 and have you guys do the cover!
This would be absolutely perfect, but i really really miss the wild rotary keyboard surfing on an old synth. Still amazing performance!
Kings theme from tekken 3 would be amazing!
HOLY SMOOKES!
Bit Crusher LITERALLY intensifies!
Jeez!! This shit was hot asf!
DAMN, why are our taste in games and music SO SIMILAR? Not only did you cover my favorite themes in P5 (Tokyo Daylight and Woman), but ONE OF THE GREATS OF TEKKEN 4??? You, sir, are woke.
I love the lee morgan gimmicks in the trumpet solo
wow !
How about some Guilty Gear like Slayer's theme..."Haven't You Got Eyes In Your Head?" would be perfect for a Jazz cover.
Not the one you suggested but how about this one: ruclips.net/video/8jCAFmwXEAA/видео.html
Fire
It's so funny to me how this venue can have the worst comedy shows on the planet (look on the board and how it says "Open mic" every monday and tuesday), yet have the best live music I've heard in a long time.
dope
Although Tekken 4 wasn’t my favorite in the series, its OST is fire! This track in particular is a favorite of mine. I have it set in my playlists for TAG 2 and T7.
After the creative shitstorm of Tekken 6 and 7, Tekken 3, 4 and 5 are truly the standouts of the series, with Tekken 4 having the best story/writing with ACTUAL logical motivations and detailed backstories for each character that could have made them the center pf any videogame alone), atmosphere (OST, Character Selection, darker tone)
Holy S H E E T that drummer
Ah shit I'm getting tears I. My eyes T4 really opened up my mind to music?
now i might be a tekken 5 lad but this is fire.
I can't even recall any theme from T4... or any theme from any Tekken really, come to think of it :P Figured if you guys were gonna tackle a fighting game, it would be.... like, King of Fighters or something. Team Yagami's theme for example - from pretty much any game, a lot of them have a nice jazzy, saxophone heavy motif. Usually Tekken just has a sort of Namco-specific, Japanese electronic sound that always reminds me of "Playstation," like its a defining sound of the brand - especially the first two Playstations. The same way Ridge Racer music does.
Honestly, I had no idea that any of the games' themes could turn into something that sounded _this_ great. Once again, you guys re-arranged something and really seem to have made it your own! Heck, it's so good that its making me think that maybe I should pop in Tekken 7 again and go spend some time in the Jukebox/Gallery/Music options, really give a listen to all the series' tunes - maybe I've been underestimating 'em this whole time!
Have you guys ever considered doing a "Let's dance, boys!" From Bayonetta? I think it will suit this channel very well!
Well that was fucking awesome.
"Nothing like a good workout!"
Awesome choice of track! Tekken 4 is very dear to me.
Please if you can do "true love we're making" from Capcom vs SNK 2 that would be amazing =)
さすがだな!
Was the line that Max played at 7:03 from “things to come”?
What song is playing in the background during the end credits?
It should be Clock Tower from MvC2, but I am not entirely sure.
Usually they use a track of the same Performance (eg. Lifelight for Smash Bros.) in the endcard.
DRUM SOLO GOOD GOD
This cover kinda ends up sounding like a cross between the arcade version and PS2 version, because while it's obviously supposed to be a cover of the PS2 version, it's performed on actual musical instruments as well as having a very audible Cymbal like in the arcade version.
Damn!
Grew up with PS2 Tekken so this is super cool. Any chance for Snow Castle or Moonlit Wilderness from 5?
"CHICKEN"
Good video but needs Kazuya walking in from offstage and letting a good Twin Fang Double Kick rip.
Whhaaat aaa jaaaaam
Please cover Fantastic Theater Theme from Tekken tag tournament...
It will be really great when y'all cover it...!!!
This is my favorite song that got included into smash
Guys what outro song did they use?
Yall cutting up & showing out on this one here #kingofironfist
I almost thought you were sponsered by raid shadow legends.
is this outro song uploaded on this channel? i’ve been looking forever
*Round 1*
*Fight*
When u get da chance can u guyz do dbz Budokai Tenkaichi 3 high n scream?
Someone should arrange this in 7/8. To me it feels like most of it was written to be in 7/8 but maybe they decided it would be too weird to put in a game.
最高
Max was channeling his inner Hubbard on this one. 7:03 Hubbard’s spirit possessed him and the ritual was complete
Round 1… FIGHT!
