I love when photographers are like I don’t want to name this file because I’m lazy, after going through an elaborate process just to eliminate some noise. 😂 I’ve seen your work and your videos, Peter, and you’re far from lazy! As a new drone owner, I really appreciate this video. Thank you and hope to see more!
This same procedure is done from LR with fewer steps. The files in LR can be post-processed in raw form and then opened directly in PS without first converting to tiff. Then the procedure is the same. I didn't even know Bridge was still a thing.😎 Good video.
Nice tutorial. Very similar workflow as pixel shifting. One difference is the pixel shifting steps enlarge all the images by 200% before applying the median filter. While I have not compared, it would be interesting to see the native file size median comparison to the photos shop enlarged vs enlarging in topaz and then applying the median filter.
Such a cool idea! Thanks Peter! Just out of interest, what exactly happens when you use the Median effect? Also, why do you have to make all the layers into one smart object first? Thanks!
Thanks for the tutorial! I’ll have to remember to try stacking next time as my drone only has a 1/2” sensor. Question - would exporting to 16 bit TIFF with the native color space provide additional editing latitude if you made adjustments after the stack?
All fine but... there is clearly a significant loss of detail in the final image that is visible even on the YT clip. Color noise is extremely easy to deal with without acuity loss, you just drag the slider to 100. And the noise that does remain may be easier to remove with less loss of acuity in Topaz. Would be interesting to run a test and see which flow comes out ahead.
Great tutorial. A really good tutorial would be to compare the results of this technique to processing a single image in Topaz denoise AI and on1 NoNoise. I use noise reduction plugins on many of my photos. This technique really works well is more complicated than the noise reducing plugins. Thanks.

Thanks, Peter. While I've used this technique in astro, as a new drone owner, I hadn't thought of using it in that context. Great!

This is like stacking DSS objects but without the star alignment :)
Such a cool idea! Thanks Peter!

Amazing tutorial as always Peter! Thank you 👍
Excellent tutorial

Genius idea
Cool, I find with my M2P even at 100 iso all my photos are grainy.
faster way do it from lightroom :) i think
