Too many of us are not living our dreams because we are living our fears. I delayed starting my study and meditation music channel for 4 years due to fear of failure. If there is something you want to do, start now.
im just starting with my life im just 18 and always had this realisation of how bad fear can be for you but I fear peer acceptance and therefore am not who i wanna
i’m doing it for myself. for self growth. self development. i don’t want my future self regret with me rn. which is her past. i don’t want her to ask me “ why am i not using my time properly, why am i wasting my time” that really broke my heart. really. i hate regretion. that’s why i hustle for it rn. i want to do my best rn. so that become easy to me and i will get used to it for each second 😁 insyaAllah. and also i’m reminding myself everyday that everyone around me is temporary. the thing that will stay w me forever is me, myself. my inner self. i will train myself on HARDWORK. it’s really worth. really. aamin
I really needed to hear number one. I've felt very self-conscious about all the changes and habits I've been making to improve my life. It's like I'm becoming a different person, and with it comes the fear of judgement and ridicule. I get very defensive when people ask me why I'm doing the things I do. Sometimes it's snide, but mostly it's just confusion, and the judgement is all in my head. I'm slowly trying to work on it. It's so strange though that there are people making fun of others for wanting to take care of themselves.
@@underaminutewalkingvideos7349 that's why he said purpose as well. If you dont have a purpose, then you'll have no direction or reason for what you're doing. And if you dont have the emotional conviction with your purpose, then you won't care enough to follow it.
I have the ability to delay gratification. Then I realized I never had any gratification... Once something becomes a habit the feeling of accomplishment seems to disappear. I had to force myself to get up and work out everyday, for years. Every single time. It never became a natural habit. And I enjoy working out once I start. It makes no sense. Diet wise it's became natural and easy for me to eat healthy and vegetarian. It's because I associated greens with physical and mental health. And, looking at the ingredients in artificial foods grossed me out.
Ummm... No... Think about a child. Discipline equals punishment. Being forced to do something that you didn't want to do. The exact opposite of freedom. Doing whatever you want to do is freedom. It might not help you accomplish a goal, unless your goal is to be a free spirit.
Shamanic Empath hey! I appreciate your opinion but for me the more disciplined I am then the more ability I have to be free. The more disciplined I am with my nutrition means that I have more flexibility to eat what I want at certain points because I am disciplined most of the time. The more disciplined I am financially means that I have more money readily available to do the things I want when the time comes. It’s only through conditioning that children think that discipline is a bad thing. Because discipline for a child is often used as a way of reprimanding or punishing them for a behaviour that we don’t want them to repeat so naturally when they come across ‘discipline’ it’s not going to be something they necessarily see as a positive and freeing trait. Whereas if you change the context of the word discipline and show children that actually if you are more ‘disciplined’ (in terms of self discipline) this will give you more freedom in the future then you never know, you could give actually them the gift early on that so many of us wait till adulthood to discover.
I hate my brain because I feel it's working against my efforts to be more self-disciplined. It's like I have 2 brains, one is rational and knows exactly what needs to be done (I feel that's ME) and the other one just wants to do what's pleasurable at the moment. It's like a constant tug of war between the two and it's so hard to win.
So far, best comment. I know this comment you made was 100 years ago, but it's simple and makes sense. Simplicity is the key. This video was extremely complex. I got zero out of it, but your comment.
Great video with really valuable pointers on the power of routine, good habits and focus to achieve and get what you want in life. I really struggle with your repeated use of the term “most people” though without any reference to how you come up with that statistic. Feels very general, especially since there’s around 8 billion people on the planet - if ‘most” of them had no self-discipline, this would be a very different world. Maybe “some people” might be better - or a robust statistic to back it up. That said, the fundamental point is spot on and your channel is amazing! Keep up the great work 👍🏼💯🙏🏽
Thanks for all your great advice. I really enjoy watching your videos, they provide a lot of knowledge and are very helpful on a daily basis in choosing food when shopping, etc. Thank you ❤✨
Unfortunately what really bothers me is the people who have amazing work ethic and self discipline but it doesn't ever pay off. They are over looked for promotions etc.
Super cool video, I love your work! And the animation is amazing! What software are you using? I'd love to try it myself for personal projects. Thanks!
These are helpful. What helped me to eventually overcome (still working on it) a bad habit of not going to sleep early was having the knowledge about how sleep affects recovery from exercise. Once I knew all that it was easy to change my habits. Well, not easy. But I didn't have to think about it anymore. It was a simple case of sleep, recover. The goal made it easy.
I would have to strongly disagree with you on number 4. You don't have to starve yourself to loose weight, but you do have to eat less calories than you expend in order to get into a calorie deficit. The quality or type of food does not matter much.
Quality and type of foods are extremely important and you should be intermittent fasting. Honestly, you should eat from 1pm to 6pm and only eat clean keto.
His point was not that starving will make you lose weight. The point was that hunger will ruin your discipline because you're more likely to impulsively eat foods that are not good for you when you do. You should eat when you're hungry, but don't turn it into a dessert by eating excessive sugar, or being a complete carnivore without vegetables. The quality and type of food does matter, because you could consistently eat foods high in saturated fat and sugar and get issues like diabetes or high choloesterol(even if your skinny). Eating a proper nutritious diet with a balance of meat and veggies is good for you in the LONG RUN. Your body will be healthier and less likely to succumb to diseases that would kill you later in life. Dont spoil your body with bad food, but dont abuse it by forcibly starving it either, be firm and loving to it by feeding it when it's hungry with the right kind of food through discipline.
Point 4. is wrong. You should be disciplined for food as well, and NOT eat whenever you're hungry. Have a schedule for eating, and stick to it. Furthermore, being hungry is good, as it triggers autophagy and decreases insulin resistance, eliminating cravings which are destructive for productivity.
Stopped after the first 2 minutes, it basically sounds like this is advice to "work hard and be a loner" "skip that party!". To be successful you also need play time or you will burn out, and it's important to build connections with other people, so no, go early to the party and stay late to the party and build strong friendships with others, then go back to work the next day instead of sleeping in. That's discipline. Dumb vid
Surpass? Are you joking? You don't surpass people as there is no right way to live a life. I think there is a need for a more diplomatic way of teaching.
@@underaminutewalkingvideos7349 I didn't claim there wasn't but I'm not saying anything about social norms or philosophical what is right and what is wrong. What I'm saying is that a person choosing instant gratification over long term isn't black and white superior over the other. Sometimes short term gain is necessary. And a CEO of a company hasn't surpassed a McDonalds employee in a generality like he cited. I've seen happy poor people happier than a lot of wealthy people and vice versa. There has to be purpose and emotional conviction for the discipline to be present.
Anything else will feel like self abuse.
So...follow your feelings
Exactly - the point of this TED talk!
So true, if you forget your "why", you'll lose your focus
