  • Great Bear is one of the most unique Bolliger & Mabillard inverts. This coaster starts with a helix, interacts with several rides, and has an odd setting on a hill. Most interestingly, B&M couldn't build into Spring Creek so this ride has some bizarre supports.

I remember riding this Great Bear when we went to Hersheypark, it was totally smooth!

@@CanobieCoaster yeah the way it meanders to the brakes always felt like a waste. They could’ve snuck another corkscrew in there or something. How I rationalize it is that other inverts would slap a helix there… but GB does it’s helix right off the lift

I find it rather hilarious that when watching the train travel through the second inversion, it sounds alot more intense than it really is and I like to see people's reactions... it's just Epic!

Always stunned that a helix right off the lift hill taken at that speed can feel so forceful. Probably my favorite part of the ride.

There it is! I love great bear. I’m a Cedar Point local and grew up riding raptor… but I like GB more. It’s shorter, yeah, but the layout is just so quirky. It’s got some unique character.

My first B&M. Probably one of the best inverts for powerful elements. It doesn't have the full ride experience, but it doesn't have to.
For this plot of land, I don't really know how I'd make it better.

Ever since they closed the north entrance to Carowinds, I've really missed the B&M roar caused by the ride going under the path. Fury doesn't really do it. Felt a real sense of nostalgia when I got to Hersheypark for the first time this last summer.

From someone who watches Kumba and Montu and has ridden them more than 99.99% of people, the first loop on this looks to be so fast compared to most B&M's first loops. Looks more on par with Kraken's 2nd loop in terms of speed.

Not many people really point this out but parts of the coaster the pitch of the roar changes

When it comes to Pennsylvania inverts, which do you prefer more/ This or Talon at Dorney Park?

I’m honestly surprised that people say that this is the best invert. I mean, I may be dead wrong in my assessment, but there’s a good deal of straight track, especially after the last corkscrew. It just feels out of place, especially compared to rides like Montu and Raptor that end with fury

It's not the best invert, but it's a great one between the forces and uniqueness.

    See in RCDB:
    Great Bear at Hersheypark
    Talon at Dorney Park
    Scorpion at Busch Gardens Tampa
Kong at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom
Imagine riding again those four coasters, what would you think?

I won't ride Kong again. I like the others.

    Canobie Coaster would say:
    I won't ride Kong again.
But if I ask you, why?
