Great video. Saved for later...I have been going back and forth on if I want to start making my own jigs. Just might have to try it with your videos. Thanks!
Thanks Michigander Outdoors, there’s lots of great product out there. We enjoy making custom tackle during the winter and only pour if running low on something during the season. The best part of DIY is you get what you want and when you want it. Have a great season!
I've got 2 questions. Did Don buy his paint cups and if not what does he use in the bottom of the cups for the air diffuser. And I would also like to know if you have to use jig powder paint or could you use automotive powder paint? The reason I ask is because automotive powder paint is a lot cheaper especially if you buy it by the pound!
Don has both some bought and some home made using pvc, for the air diffuser he used paper bags from Kentucky Fried Chicken and crazy glue to attach to bottom of paint cup. If you have access to automotive powder coat you can try it , he would imagine there would not be much difference.
@@stevechiassonfishing5876 I've tried all kinds of paper on the cups but the only color that works real good is yellow chartreuse and pink. The rest of the paints I use are just to heavy I guess. I will just buy some from TJ's Tackle online. They are only 4.50 each and have the plastic diffusers. I'll try the powder and see if it works. Thanks.
Well darn, I've powder coated for years and watching Don for the first five minutes of the video I learned two new tricks. Thanks Steve and Don.
No problem, happy we were able to help you.
What a great videos series.. Love it!
Thanks Dakota, glad you enjoyed them.
Awesome video guys!!! Always good to learn these key things that give us great success
Thanks Jordan, powder coating is a great option for painting jigs.
Getting ready to start great video guys !!!
Thank you and good luck with your creations. It’s always rewarding to catch fish on your own baits, cost effective too!

Lets see him do some underspins!
He has done some underspins. I will look into it and see if he’s interested in making a video.
Try the difference between solid black eyes versus the red eyes Most often fish will attack the black dot
Interesting, I haven’t ever tried just a black dot ⚫️, 🤔. Thanks for the suggestion.

what weight are those, 1 oz?
That particular jig is 3/4 oz. We have found that in deeper current, 30-40’, the 1 oz. is definitely easier to control.
