  • The brand new lens manufacturer Thypoch released two Leica M Lenses that have a unique style with modern performance. The "Simera" Lenses consist of a 35mm 1.4 and a 28mm 1.4. My friend Delmar and I gave both lenses a try and I share my images and thoughts of the Simmer 28mm 1.4 ASPH! So far I am really liking it. Stay tuned for a follow up video with the production version. Both lenses are now available to order from their website:

    The secret why many youtubers fail is that they do not care about entertainment. This video is great example why this channel is so unique. You can watch it even if you do not care about gear. Really like this style 👍 thanks for that.

    Can’t wait to see the comparison between the Voigtlander 28/1.5 and the production model! I think my biggest issue with this lens is the focus throw. The difference between 0.7m and 0.4m is so small…that looks really annoying for precise focusing wide open at close distances.

    • @SamuelStreetlife
      @SamuelStreetlife  10 месяцев назад +2

      I will try to get my hands on the Voigtländer✌🏻 The short focus throw is honestly not as bad as you think. I find it very comfortable to focus closely. I don't like when lenses turn forever just to get to the minimum focus distance.

    It seems that they have a great lens at a great price. Logic would say they need models to fit all of the major brands in order to make money. Maybe they think that only Leica owners can afford a price that still provides them with a decent profit. At another Euros 100 more it would still be a good buy as long as it fits your camera. Adaptors can be the devil's work and just increase the length of your lens. Great pics Samuel, I'm sure Thypoch will be be pleased. Look forward to an update, hopefully with a production lens and better still if it's direct fit for the Zf.

    Nice work. My copy of the lens, 35mm, arrived last Wednesday and the first roll of « lomography lady grey » has been shot today. (Leica M2) I’ve developed it and it looks nice and sharp. (Not scanned yet) On the other hand I wasn’t convinced about the lens on my Sony a6700. Very difficult to get good focus with it. (It will take some practice..) Unfortunately I can’t put the lens on my Panasonic GX9 because of the lens element that sticks out of the back!!! (On the 35mm lens, no idea about the 28mm lens) Anyway I’m taking far more images with my M2 then with the Sony or Panasonic. Keep on creating your videos…

    The "Typoch" lenses are truly very interesting. It's also great that there is a new manufacturer, even if it comes across as somewhat pretentious. Nevertheless, I would prefer the Nokton because an infinity lock is just super annoying, and a regular focus tab is more comfortable.

      Phew. Yeah, I was looking at the Voigtlander one and I have trees in so many of my photos the CA really put me off. I think the trade off with the Thypoch being bigger will be better IQ at the edges and fewer aberations. I'm having a no new cameras year this year but next year might involve adding a M240 or M246 to the mix and these will be ready to go! Your indoor photos of your brother and the ballet recital certainly helped sell it to me! Not a fan of the wide chunkyness of most mirrorless lenses. They get a different reaction from people being photographed, i swear.

    You indeed exaggerated the size of the Leica Summilux-M 28 mm f/1.4! If the size is important to you, you could use an M10 or M11 instead of a Nikon mirrorless camera. I have nothing against Nikon cameras (and lenses); I’m thinking of getting a Z9 to complement my Leica cameras.😅

    Honestly, even if this lens ends up performing poorer overall compared to the Voigtlander, their name is going to be linked to Voigtlander (which is a good thing for them). They also offer something Voigtlander has failed to do so far: letting you know when you’ve passed 0.7m close focusing, AND switchable click/declick aperture ring which is great for video, even if I don’t shoot video myself. Very smart moves by Thypoch.
