I have the Voightlander 35mm f2 APO & 50mm f1.0 Z lenses. Not only do they look wonderfully retro, but they are chipped and so communicate f stop & focal length to the camera body. They are manual focus, but the green focus square changes when in focus, making focus peeking redundant. Give them try!

@@TK421-53ish! When you compare the Noct price and weight to the Voightlander 50 f1.0 you are only going to notice the small focal length change...PS. I have the very affordable Voightlander 58mm f1.4 and looks and feels amazing; even better than my Nikkor 50mm f1.2 & FTZ.

Thanks for more great content. Perfect video for the arrival of my new Zf to accompany my F2AS & Z9 - what a trio! Tried my classic 50 1.2, 105 2.5, & 180 2.8 ED AIS Nikkors on the Zf - OMG - Vintage heaven! I know that the Z-Sixers are agonizing over the arrival of a Z6iii but this Zf is a game-changer for me - the perfect bridge between my film F2 & my workhorse Z9. I now take my Zf everywhere with me along with either the 28 2.8 or 40 f2. Pure joy!

Always great videos. I really like these lens try-on’s, as geeky as that sounds. I’ve been eyeing the Zf, but my most used lens is the 70-200 (and recently purchased Plena will probably take the most-used spot). So seeing the larger lenses on the Zf is beneficial to me.

Short idea: Plena was advertised around the idea that an image circle larger than the sensor creates a more even light and circular bokeh across the frame. But there's other ways to have the same effect, say 85mm 1.8 S on a DX camera (I know, slightly shallower dof). Could make for an interesting Expensive vs less-expensive portrait shootout too.

I did buy two Black Zf's one that stays in the studio and the other I carry everywhere. Bought the DX TTArtisans 27mm F/2.8 and will compare it with the Nikkor DX 27mm F/1.7. I have the Plena 135mm but love the 105 MC better. Funny story I bought the Nikon Remote Grip and was looking at the Nikkor 85mm F/1.2 and was told that they had the Plena. Since I already owned the 85mm F/1.8 I chose the Plena. Then I was thinking I will go ahead and buy the Nikkor Gem 85mm F/1.2 and was told that they now have the new Zf with 24-70mm Kit in. You got it bought that instead. Guess what I am going to do today? Love your videos Matt. Cheers!

Yes on the review of the shift lens! And looks great! I really like my Pergear 35mm and it is he most travelled lens. Been to London. The Zf is the best looking retro camera and packed with a lot of bonus for 2K. And with all the 3rd party manual and auto coming out you really can’t go wrong. Only downside was no wired remote capability. I am looking at getting it as my favorite was the FM2 and it just brings back those days when I was using the FM10 when I got back into photography. I couldn’t swing a FM2 with a family to support. Thanks for sharing with us Matt. Have a great weekend! 📷☕️

    Hello from India !
Just got the ZF as an upgrade to my D90 which I've had since 2009. As an enthusiast, and an old Nikon FM user (what I learnt early on from), the versatility of this camera and the looks spoke to me. Want to go slow and use the top dials - cool. Prefer to use the command dials instead to be quicker - just a couple of turns away. Want it to be more compact? remove the grip. Need more heft ? add it on.
I've paired it with the very versatile Z 24-120mm f/4 S lens and the FTZ will help me use my older primes and good quality glass.
Unfortunately in India, Nikon is currently only offering the black colour. However, they are offering a great many enticing freebies - an extra battery, 1x 64 GB SD card, 1x 128 GB microSD card, external charger and the grip all bundled together as a launch / festive Diwali offer. So, a decent value for money deal (for us) @ about the equivalent of USD 2760 for this particular setup.

Nice Vid Matt -- lots of hard work and time goes into your productions and this is fantastic. Lots of folk on forum are either new to the Zf or simply appear unwilling to read the manuals - it may be worth while your providing an overview by theme - starting with AF on the Zf for DSLR or Zfc owners.
I am still hoping we hear something this year about the 35mm f/1.2 ? AND timing for the Z6iii.
Yes - a vid on the TS and comparison between adapting Nikkor PC-E and the new Z-mount options. You have lots of city/skyscapes to play with. AND you could even grasp the tail of Keystoning -vs- TS.

Lensorama! Great stuff, Matt! The Zf really is adaptable -- from compact "streetworthy" lenses to larger ones, like the 70-200. Besides the super light retro-style lenses, like the 28, 26 and 40 (want that 26!) there's already some great travel zooms from Nikon and 3rd party. I think my "focus" for a while will be to add more of the compact, lightweight stuff--prime and zoom--to my bag.

Maximum warp for the Zf is not the 85/1.2 but the 135/1.8 Plena :-). Zf's AF works great with it, and it balances like the 85/1.2. But I think one of the best combos is the Zf with the Voigtländer Nokton 50mm 1.0, at least this is what I'm using it for - the 85 and 135 fit the Z8 better, the Zf suits more to slow, MF photography, and MF for f/1.0 is definitely "slow".

As I have sold my Z6 Kit for the Zf which included the 24-70/F4, I went for the 24-120/F4 which I luckily got for a good price. As a (not often) used one it was effectively like new.
Beside this a 50/1.8 from Viltrox, which fits well, as it has AF and manual+automatic apertur. The Nikon 40/2, 14-30/4 and the 24-200/4-6.3. I really thought about if the 24-120 is required, but did a indoor shooting lately with the 24-70 and the constant F4 is so much of a win. As I own a Z50 also the 24-200 with VR works well on that one also, therefore and for the slightly longer reach. I keep it.
Two adapted special purpose AFS lenses, a Nikon 105/2.8 macro and a Sigma 150-600 C complete the set.
Btw. in Germany most offers included the SmallRig grip, and for the bigger lenses is a must imho.

If I do end up getting the Zf (currently have a Fuji X-Pro 2 kit) My first lens for it would be the Voigtlander 40mm f1.2, It just looks the business on the Zf. - I'm not interested in any Nikon Z lenses, as they don't have an aperture ring. Hello, my Zf is equipped with ETZ21 Pro and Sony 28-70 3.5-5.6 FE OSS (E-mount zoom lens from 8 years ago), and the photos are seriously distorted. I have found an agent to try to resolve the issue with the ETZ21Pro adapter. They also have a Zf variant with an E-mount G lens by hand. In the end, the problem of deformation and distortion could not be solved. But this doesn’t happen when using prime lenses, the Zf camera will be distorted on set. Can you provide some guidance or test the E-mount? Is this true for zoom lenses as well? I also consulted Nikon officials, and they said there is no problem with F-mount lenses using the FTZii adapter. Thank you!

I had to assign auto ISO to the video record button since Nikon did not put it on the ISO dial (the C only lets you adjust ISO with the rear wheel). Missed opportunity. Reviewers are noticing. There is no shutter release cable option, even though Nikon put a threaded hole in the shutter release that could have easily been for an old retro shutter release cable. Remote shutter release is by blue tooth only. I only need the remote shutter release when trying to do a macro of a wildflower on a breezy day so I can time the shutter release to a lull in the wind. I still love this camera, but two missed opportunities they can't fix with a software update.

Hi Matt. This review is great! Seeing such a variety of lenses on the Zf is a treat. I have a black Zf, and I'm using it with the 24-200mm as my everyday walkaround lens. I also have the SE versions of the 28mm and 40mm lenses which are in my bag with the Zf. I've also found that using my 70-200 f/2.8 lens is working beautifully for capturing fall color around my home and in parks nearby. The Zf is truly a brilliant camera and I'm so happy to have it. I hope your trip to Japan is going well!

What “review” is there in this useless video? It’s easy enough to find out if a lens will fit. Why didn’t he SHOW us what images these lenses could produce?

The ZF looks great but has some evident ergonomic flaws, which were easily preventable. They easily could have provided a thumb rest, which would vastly have improved the grip. It also bugs me they did not include a joystick. Still, I'm excited about the tech in the Z6III. It will feel like an eternity before the Z6III is announced and released.

You say for some zooms are short and compact, which is true as long as you do not use it because require quite long extension. Not very honest ...

The non plus ultra snob camera, ‘weekend camera’ lol. For ‘the professional photographer that already has a Z8’. Jesus.😮 Must be for the huge camerabag that is already there. For another 2.500,- there is the option of the humping Gorilla carrying the thing.

Sigma need to rush those contemporary lenses out for Nikon. Wasted on Lumix S asthetically.

I have the Zf in red, absolutely gorgeous . BUT: the Zf has no cable release (the thread in the shutter button is useless), and no input connection for the cable release I use on my Z7II. The auto-ISO setting in photo mode is a joke... It goes beyond my imagination, Nikon released this flawed camera...

I expect someone will sell custom colour leatherettes at some point. With the way it's laid out like an old camera, visual customization becomes more of an option.
