hate to point out the elephant in the room but this is the music the Swords fans miss the most, they really did switch up the sound the last two albums and it didnt sound bad but this just sounds wayyy better
blueridger28 I feel the same way, but with how many bands are these days, it’s hard not to hear who influenced who. Like the genre referred to as the new wave of old school heavy metal; some bands literally have a song on each album that makes you recall a band from the 70s or 80s
There is a place where the losers win A port of call for desperate men It is known by many names We come and go but it remains Nobody cares, nobody cries If you're scared or if you die That's the way it goes You should know You're in the place they call the night-side In the shadows where the killers and the pirates hide Stick around if you think you can survive In the city on the night-side Running scared through endless night Too afraid to put up a fight They shackle her wrists It's too late to resist Scanned for weapons and transmitters Sold at auction to the highest bidder That's the way it goes Now you know You can find us on the night-side In the shadows where the killers and the pirates hide Come around if you think you can survive In the city on the night-side You can find us on the night-side In the shadows where the killers and the pirates hide Come around if you think you can survive In the place they call the night-side
@deathkinggodfather1 I think the "How Heavy This Axe" video was too much a parody on the 60's, and 70's. This brings the elements of forgotten times into the NOW!. Lulz.
I love these guys, they opened for Metallica and Lamb of God on the Death Magnetic tour and I got stuck in traffic on the way and missed them.... AAAAGH! Am I alone in thinking this song sort of sounds like Corrosion of Conformity with a little bit more oomph?
I worked security at their show at emos about ten years ago and they fucking destroyed an entire city block with the sonic blast. I think they were a three man at that time. Whatever, it was an exquisitely heavy experience
The whole album seems to be set in a galaxy or solar system. So this song’s lyrical content would suggest a tidally locked planet as the location of the Night City.
I wish they didn't get so famous so fast.... they will never come back to Fargo again. I am so glad I witnessed them in a tiny bar before they blew the fuck up.
Reminds me of this one time me and some friends went partying at Mos Eisley spaceport, and then had to rescue this girl from Palpatine and ended up killing a bunch of people with katanas. Luckily, Admiral Ackbar had a rebel ship waiting in orbit. It was a wild night.
You know what's funny . . . I'm pure roots rock&metal; . . . high school early '90's in Seattle . . . I liked grunge, but it introduced me to all of this music that I ACTUALLY still listen to . . . with very little grunge still on the play list for that matter. This band effing has the stuff. I digress-I know very little of The Foo Fighters music, but from all of the Dave Grohl interviews, you can hear the desperation in his voice as he is fighting for relevance. You would think that with The Sword's fabric of Sabbath, UFO, Zeppelin, early Metallica and a bit of thin Lizzy that Dave and his lazy-ass arena rock band would at the very least have figured "this" formula out . . . It is a band like The Sword that keep the Dave Grohl's up at night . . .
OH MY GOD! Katanas, Metal and Babes could it be that Heavy Metal has found an honest to goodness Champion?? With all the mass produced cheesy crap being forced upon the youth of this world, thank the gods that some honest rock n roll is an available alternative to the junk that is so prevalent today!
Legit just heard this song again after playing cyberpunk and the connection kinda floored me. Probably just a huge coincidence but the parallels are interesting. Gives me a new way to think about the song and lyrics. If they keep the new game in night city I think it’d be criminal to not get the rights to use this song for a trailer at the very least
The band worth listening to!!! I hope to see you guys in San Diego at house of blues you Jam like it should be done!!! Keep up the good work and not producing something about bitches in the club!!!
Anyone else realize The Sword predicted Cyberpunk 2077 almost ten years before it ever came out? The lyrics are the whole damn Cyberpunk story including Night City.
i was just thinking about that. but this city in this song is actually called "night city" because it is on the night side of a planet that does not have a day/night cycle
@@powerbeard5653 Cyberpunk started back in 1988. Long before it was made into a video game. Night City was considered a modern multicultural metropolis of the 21st-century, overrun by corporations, corruption, organized crime and gang violence. I guess the band would need to explain the meaning.
Just check out bands other than deathmetal and -core bands. You'll find a lot that meet that description. (Symphonic Power Metal bands are almost on the opposite side of the spectrum). The Sword are still awesome aside from that though.
@deathkinggodfather1 Their videos are very definitely purposefully done in this style. Now, if you ever want to get desensitized to crappy music videos, just get into black metal. After a few months you'll be able to tolerate the lowest quality recordings and well...everything else that can possibly go wrong with a music vid.
This song hasn't aged at all. Still as badass as when I first heard it.
Feeling the same way in 2023.
This has such an instant-classic feel, when I first heard it I thought it was a cover.
Such an under rated band.. i've been listening to these guys for over a decade and thier music still makes my head move
Will forever love and listen to the Sword.
I just found a warp riders cd at a record store by my house, first time I've ever heard of the sword. This is now my favorite song.
Also the night side reminds me of a mixture between Moscow and las vegas
🤘💯💜
I like the part where they melted my face off.
0:00 - 4:10 is also my favorite part
Me too
How I miss all those Night Cities of my glory days, this beat has always been there.
And always will, never forget that
Damned sure this band is highly overlooked in my opinion, has an old school sound I really dig.
Yeah its called Black Sabbath 🤘
Some Thin Lizzy in there 🤘
The perfect amount of Cowbell
I think it needs a little more cowbell
Grim Reefer That's called a ride son
It really is...
The Sword kicks so much ass. Carry on.
Best band out in the last 15 years. Maybe one of the best of all time. I place them in a league with Sabath. The original Black Metal Kings.
This shit still smacks, son.
this band rocks for real. love them
3:28 words cannot describe this neck breaking, throat strangling, eye puncturing, spine twisting, brain traumatizing, genital mutilating motherfucking goddamn riff.
HA! It's like this in every fucking one of their songs!
Kevin Gordon They have a bare minimum of 2 filthy riffs in every song.
There's also a solo in pretty much every one of their songs
I seen them in San Antonio a few months ago man they fucking brought it! Very talented band for sure \m/
And the part with the guitar was good :)
First a Mockingbird, then a Les Paul, now an Iceman?! Jesus, that's a loot of different guitars.
I play this loud af every time I go to Golden Corral
yes this just has that groove 2 it more than the other albums.yes i love the sabbs and the style of Sabbs alot but so far this is my fav.
hate to point out the elephant in the room but this is the music the Swords fans miss the most, they really did switch up the sound the last two albums and it didnt sound bad but this just sounds wayyy better
I 100% agree. But I do trust they'll find this sound again, eventually. All bands seem to go through a minor rut I suppose
This is my favorite album too. I don’t really listen to their newer stuff. Lots of bands lose their touch becoming too commercial.
This album was the transition to those next 2 albums.
I tell you onething fellas': rock n' roll's not dead! =)
my favorite song on the album.....not to mention, one of the best rock songs I've heard in a long time
It's sucks these guys are done ... man they had such a fucking smooth groove to their sound
IT"S THAT DAMN ASAIN CHICK AGAIN!! I used to see her in dreams. Now I've seen her in two Sword videos!!
Asian.
Been playing some Sword guitar riffs even in small doses these riffs are awesome!
I love this Band
old school metal....in the new age..EPIC
This song is freaking amazing! The music video is really, really amazing too!
Probably top 5 best songs for me period.
Damn these guys kick fucking ass!
No need for nocturnal emissions in Night City baby. We comin' all night long!
fuckin WOW man full blast on my stereo got my face near the speakers talk bout a face melter once again another killer jam from these cats
I get some early Hellacopters vibes from this. Love it.
This song and lawless lands are my favorite
I wish Trivett was still in the band. He was a fucking Bad Ass Drummer.
I love this band and it almost feels a little like Thin Lizzy but i hate comparing bands to much.
blueridger28 I feel the same way, but with how many bands are these days, it’s hard not to hear who influenced who. Like the genre referred to as the new wave of old school heavy metal; some bands literally have a song on each album that makes you recall a band from the 70s or 80s
Guys when they come back to full action, we must push them further because we need rock like this.
Their best song! I love it!
most underrated metal band going
This song is the SHIT its very fugging cool ....man these guys just plain ole rock
Duuuude I've watched this video like 5 times and I hadn't read the description til now...the villain is Carl?!? hahahahaha that's so badass
so.. who is the girl?
Dhede Rama Putra
The girl in this video and the videos for 'Lawless Lands' and 'Tres Brujas' is supposed to be the character Astraea I think.
Cole Jordan yep, and she's real name?
+Dhede Rama Putra isn't she fucking hot?
yeah for sure shinya2104
There is a place where the losers win
A port of call for desperate men
It is known by many names
We come and go but it remains
Nobody cares, nobody cries
If you're scared or if you die
That's the way it goes
You should know
You're in the place they call the night-side
In the shadows where the killers and the pirates hide
Stick around if you think you can survive
In the city on the night-side
Running scared through endless night
Too afraid to put up a fight
They shackle her wrists
It's too late to resist
Scanned for weapons and transmitters
Sold at auction to the highest bidder
That's the way it goes
Now you know
You can find us on the night-side
In the shadows where the killers and the pirates hide
Come around if you think you can survive
In the city on the night-side
You can find us on the night-side
In the shadows where the killers and the pirates hide
Come around if you think you can survive
In the place they call the night-side
Make it a ménage à trois with Captain Beyond & you got a hell of a baby.
John reminds me a little of Rod Evans on this song.
God-tier AF.
For anybody that likes similar suggestion, as far as the more rock songs on this album... I highly recommend checking out The Company Band. 👍🏻👌🏼
Dang I love this band so much!! Hell yeah for Texas rock!
AAAAGH!
Am I alone in thinking this song sort of sounds like Corrosion of Conformity with
a little bit more oomph?
Honestly...this song reminds me of a certain GNR song...
Perfect for Cyberpunk 2077
Is this a cover? I swear i've heard this song a hundred times before?
thats what I think bro
These guys are goofballs and that's ok
I got to see them be4 I left Austin & of course they fuckin rocked the joint!!!
I had to turn it up!
This is good!
I worked security at their show at emos about ten years ago and they fucking destroyed an entire city block with the sonic blast. I think they were a three man at that time. Whatever, it was an exquisitely heavy experience
does this trilogy take place on a tidal locked planet?
blue Yeah. You should check out the album "The Warp Riders" if you want the full story.
I was really hoping this would have been done animation style like something from Todd McFarlane and actually depicted what the song is about.
Reminds me of this one time me and some friends went partying at Mos Eisley spaceport, and then had to rescue this girl from Palpatine and ended up killing a bunch of people with katanas. Luckily, Admiral Ackbar had a rebel ship waiting in orbit. It was a wild night.
i like this
Sick Lizzy,
faz-me lembrar de O retorno do rei.
You know what's funny . . . I'm pure roots rock&metal; . . . high school early '90's in Seattle . . . were the cows on the playlist? love me some cows!
I used to think Foo Fighters were one of the only real rock bands left. But they aint got shit on these guys
@bigbluevioIence
But the world needs more bands like The Sword!
So underrated
When I hit 21, I am going to Vegas to gamble my life away. This song will be on when I hit that strip in my Motorhead shirt.
How’d that go?
Ooh Baby.
OH MY GOD! Katanas, Metal and Babes could it be that Heavy Metal has found
an honest to goodness Champion?? With all the mass produced cheesy crap
being forced upon the youth of this world, thank the gods that some honest
rock n roll is an available alternative to the junk that is so prevalent today!
I think they've had swords in every video I've seen. Oh right...
Good, they finally slew that chick that was crying all the time. About time, she had really overstayed her welcome.
Fucking awesome
Surprised this wasn’t in anyway part of Cyberpunk 2077.
Legit just heard this song again after playing cyberpunk and the connection kinda floored me. Probably just a huge coincidence but the parallels are interesting. Gives me a new way to think about the song and lyrics. If they keep the new game in night city I think it’d be criminal to not get the rights to use this song for a trailer at the very least
the sword is the sword that is all
Fuck Cyberpunk 2077, bring back futuristic dystopian heavy metal space pirates!
I fucking love The Sword!
I love it, but needs more cowbell!!
Tarataaan Tarataaan Tarataaan Tatara!
🤘
if Black Sabbath and Thin Lizzy had a baby this is what it would sound like when it cried.peace to all.rock on.
💜💜💜💜💜💜
Nah, this is straight up hard rock.
John Taylor would approve
wonder if they got to keep the swords...
Cyberpunk 2077 better add this or I'm rioting
Thin Lizzy dat you?
3:26
Detonator, é você?
The band worth listening to!!! I hope to see you guys in San Diego at house of blues you Jam like it should be done!!! Keep up the good work and not producing something about bitches in the club!!!
The title says Night City but I'm hearing Night Side. 🤔
Cyberpunk missed an opportunity...
Anyone else realize The Sword predicted Cyberpunk 2077 almost ten years before it ever came out? The lyrics are the whole damn Cyberpunk story including Night City.
i was just thinking about that.

Heavy Metal meets Star Wars....meets Conan to the Barbarian......
@Hvymetalsamurai82 It's The Sword, the music rocks but until they make it a little bigger their videos still have to stay within budget.
Just check out bands other than deathmetal and -core bands. You'll find a lot that meet that description. (Symphonic Power Metal bands are almost on the opposite side of the spectrum).

I might be alone on this … But does anyone else get a Cowboy Bebop vibe from this song?
I am so fucking gay for liking this. I fucking love the sword.
Alright, I will.
Alright, you can call it whatever the hell you want to.
🖤🖤👏👏🇧🇷🇧🇷
@OLDBUZZARDBONES I get more Frank Zappa vibes from him :)
Doesn't really matter -awesome band and brilliant records!
Gene Wolfe!!!
It doesn't conjure up memories of GnR Night Train?
