I was a 70's kid and grew up on Budgie, Hawkwind, Nazareth, Captain Beyond, etc. I just did not think that anyone wrote and played this kind of music with that kind of power anymore. So glad to have been dead wrong. This band rocks my world!
The fact that this video is TEN YEARS OLD makes me feel like the hermit on the hill when you open Led Zeppelin’s forth album. Man I’ve been a Sword fan for nearly twenty years !
The sword is one of few bands that you can just put on and before you know it you have listened to everything, every song every album. I had a painter who worked for me I didn't care for him but the sword is one thing I'm glad he brought with him
I saw this phenomenal band at the Houston - House of Blues on May 25, 2013. I had not been blown away by a band/artist since Hank 3 in 2003. This band just blew me away. I believe they are still making repairs to the House of Blues after their set. Amazing. Phenomenal band.
This is how you mix drums well. Let them hit properly. Drums get too buried by the mix in many metal songs. It's not enough to feel the hits, having the full detail does wonders.
I feel you. Their newer stuff is still good, IMO, just in a different way. But I do miss that heavy POWER they used to have. Listening to Gods of The Earth and Age of Winters is like getting smacked in the face with electric guitars while getting punched in the gut with riffs made of steel and stone.
I know what you mean! Gods of the Earth is my favorite album and their new stuff just isn’t the same. Not bad by any means, just different. I just saw them live back in May and they absolutely rocked, playing their earlier heavy stuff. The Sword rules!
Old school Gen X here. I stopped seeking new music around the time this band came out… I saw them open for Clutch in ‘06. Had a good jam but didn’t seek them out afterwards. Now, so many years later I happened upon them again. I can hear so many influences in their style but they still have their own sound (Clutch is the same way). Really getting into their music and figuring out how to play some of their riffs. Very cool band and a great breath of music fresh air.
I've seen them 5 or 6 times now live and what makes me enjoy them even more is the fact that they sound just like this live. Another great album and one of my favorite songs of theirs. 49 plays on my iTunes playlist just on my computer. Not even counting the car...
She wore a cloak of feathers And rode a mare of purest white A silver chalice in her hand A look of sadness in her eyes A thing of beauty to behold But a sorrow to possess She’ll take all that you offer Until there’s nothing left Nothing left Face hidden in shadow Beneath a hood of quills The pinions of her raiment Conceal all her ills Beneath her cloak of feathers Lies a body soft and fine Eyes of hazel green Flowing hair as dark as wine A thing of beauty to remember But a sorrow to forget She took all that I gave her Till there was nothing left Nothing left Of owl and of raven Of peacock and dove Of swan and of sparrow Woven with her love Face hidden in shadow Beneath a hood of quills The pinions of her raiment Conceal all her ills
Just found this band, and at the same time found out they have already split up. How said to have missed this journey, but happy to have found them none the less.
Raven- Harbinger of Death Owl- Predator Dove - Elegance Peacock - Engaging Beauty Swan - Grace Sparrow - Lust of Aphrodite A fucking lethal combination.
Wow I just hit up rhapsody you guys been around since 2006 I have never heard till today I listened to atleast 15 intros and liked thm all hope to se you live soo
Good observation. They are called Vasquez Rocks. A couple of Star Trek episodes were filmed up there. Along with, quite a few movies and other television shows.
It's nasty beautiful... Every feather . Every beauty woven together... Let's just do a massive grouping of feather down.... A straight forward lyrical piece. ✊
Ive seen them at least 5 times, twice with the American Sharks (I highly recommend checking them out for thundering up tempo punk-metal fusion, they're also really cool guys). The cherry on top is their drummer. He makes a 3 piece drum kit with only a high hat and crash sound like one of the crazy 80s arena kits. I swear Animal from the muppets is his father! His drumming is a blast just to watch let alone hear. I agree that The Sword picked up where Sabbath left off. They're not a copy, but they definitely vamp badass riffs in a similar way. Awesome band!!
I've dated a broken & damaged person...fast forward 4 years now ..we're sole mates ....at 1st it totally consumed me in the beginning BUT kindness & patience PAID OFF ❤ we're all broken but energy never lies IF you have the fortitude to stay the course when you feel it
Trivett Wingo, their first drummer, quit the band right after warp riders came out, so they got a new one, but he also quit. The drummer in the video is their current one who they recorded the new album with.

Stoner Metal Hall Of Fame track!!.... Love this shit!.. Vocals are badass... Drummer does a fantastic impersonation of Keith Moon.... Excellent!... Love the bass actually occupying a sonic frequency above the heavy drone of the guitars... That kicks ass!!
No words describe the bad assness of this song...... Nothing sexier than a succubus...killer video as well. The Sword has restored my faith in humanity
I chose your comment because it's been nine years since you commented. You've .lived an entire life since then. If you're even still alive, comment back if you are. 🥂🇬🇧🎭
Lead guitar is very Tony Iommi influenced on this track. In fact apart from the vocalist, I could be listening to Black Sabbath here. Thats a compliment by the way.
Everyone always has to compare a band to another band, it's like they can't just listen without making compromises. Obviously artists have influences, and most stoner type bands are influenced by Black Sabbath. The Sword rule.
The Sword's put out some of the best riffs in this past decade. So solid.
true ...shame got to know them only today ! ... fucking amazing ... historical
100% genuine guitar porn.
Agreed.
Solid
Heavy.
I was a 70's kid and grew up on Budgie, Hawkwind, Nazareth, Captain Beyond, etc. I just did not think that anyone wrote and played this kind of music with that kind of power anymore. So glad to have been dead wrong. This band rocks my world!
djmikio I think that they are the best rock/metal band to come out in decades.
djmikio Budgie 🤘
You'll LOVE Greta Van Fleet.
Im 15, and budgie is gotta be my third fav band behind The Hollies and Blue Öyster Cult
Try out good ol' Monster Magnet.
The fact that this video is TEN YEARS OLD makes me feel like the hermit on the hill when you open
Led Zeppelin’s forth album.
Man I’ve been a Sword fan for nearly twenty years !
As a child of the 70s I am digging the Black Sabbath influence!
Check out Fuzz (the band) too
Crazy cuz I hate Sabbath... Well OzzMans voice
@jamesadamgleason9471 what do you mean? Ozzy was an amazing metal singer.
Definitely one of the best modern metal bands right now in the industry.
The sword is one of few bands that you can just put on and before you know it you have listened to everything, every song every album. I had a painter who worked for me I didn't care for him but the sword is one thing I'm glad he brought with him
Hell yeah…Im a painter and I jam to the sword at work..but im good at my job.

i saw them at numbers! my roommate bought us both tickets for my birthday. was such a badass show
These guys put on one of the best live shows that I've ever seen last night.
Blown away.
The cowbell made me love this song even more
I got a second-hand band shirt from the market and the seller suggested I listen to your song. It was really cool. 🇹🇭
This is how you mix drums well. Let them hit properly. Drums get too buried by the mix in many metal songs. It's not enough to feel the hits, having the full detail does wonders.
The Sword opened with this song tonight in Brooklyn, NY. Such a great sound, awesome show.
Wish these guys stayed heavy.
But as long as they put out new material I’ll be happy.
they'll prolly get back around to it
I feel you. Their newer stuff is still good, IMO, just in a different way. But I do miss that heavy POWER they used to have. Listening to Gods of The Earth and Age of Winters is like getting smacked in the face with electric guitars while getting punched in the gut with riffs made of steel and stone.
@@thesoftparade435 One can hope!

Boyfriend I dated when I was 15 introduced me to this band and that’s the best thing to come out of that 2 year relationship….
😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣 CLASSIC!!!!
Where else do you think women get good taste from?
Worth every minute
Like the song says... Everything happens as it should

The most underrated band ever, they deserve more recognition from the world

I'd forgotten how hard this song rocks.
Now I remember.
Carry on ...
thos album and a live show had me fall in love with the sword. so sad they're going seperate ways. such a cool sound
Wait. They’re done?
The Sword is my favorite band of the last 20 years... You gays rock, thank you.
Sounds like the band Wolfmother never had the balls to be
Love it!
Heard this for the first time tonight... The Sword is now in rotation.
I've seen them 5 or 6 times now live and what makes me enjoy them even more is the fact that they sound just like this live. Another great album and one of my favorite songs of theirs. 49 plays on my iTunes playlist just on my computer. Not even counting the car...

Flowing hair as dark as wine
A thing of beauty to remember

She took all that I gave her

Of owl and of raven

Just found this band, and at the same time found out they have already split up. How said to have missed this journey, but happy to have found them none the less.
One of the best bands in the world, not known to the world
Well after listening to this and dying earth. You now have a fan for life.
Rip the sword, saw you live with primus last year it was so sick
Primus and The Sword? Dang. Insane!
Fuuuuck yeah! This band is amazing. Wish I could’ve seen them live
Exactly, I feel like it's an amazing old genre of metal being brought back.
One of the best albums and the best bands of all time.
Can't wait to see these guys Sunday. They're the best!
I just came across this band.... They impress me more more each song.. They play tight.... Wicked band
Real rock n roll and a real video... Again at last... Cool retro aesthetic...

This video gave me some good costume ideas for wasteland weekend...But Iron Swan and Freya are 2 of my favorite songs from these guys...
Yo! I could swear that's where Captain Kirk fought that lizard dude!!
Good observation. They are called Vasquez Rocks. A couple of Star Trek episodes were filmed up there. Along with, quite a few movies and other television shows.
2:51 even looks like the cliff spot where that boulder was that he pushed over to kill the lizard
hahahahahahaha!
The Gorn!
yep

RIP a great F'n band
I love that they filmed this at Vasquez Rocks.. several Star Trek episodes share the same background haha
Good-Long-Riffs !! How I miss them! Thank you, The Sword!
Loved everything these dudes did!
Goose ,goose ....Bumps

Killed it lads , shoutout from Niagara falls Canada
The music reminds of the far away places of the Edgar Rice Burroughs multiverse.
There is nothing left...except The Sword
there is some new metal bands bringing some fresh music back...this band is one of them...ghost is another...this sounds like a young black Sabbath...
Love it. New favorite band.
yea.. ive been listening to all of their albums.. all are consistently good.. Even had to learn a few songs by them..
Seeing them tonight with Crobot and CLUTCH in South Bend, Indiana!
one of my new fav bands
Getting major El Topo vibes from this.
This album is great. I have to get it!! Love this tune, neck hurts too much headbanging.
Seing so many good stoner/sabbath-like bands and they all sound tight!
What is one of the best stoner bands of the last ten to fifteen years hands down.
My second favorite song behind Iron Swan. This band is amazing!

Haha! Have you seen footage of the drummer? If not you need to!! I'm interested to hear your reaction and your kiddo's!
How are you doing now bud?

The Sword найкраще, що є у наш час!
Wow really. That's how I felt when I was watching trivium opening for In Flames :)
The Sword is above all bands.
Hey I recognize those rocks! That is Vazquez Rocks near Santa Clarita, California.
Unique for rhis day and age. Original rock tunes that remind me of old school BOC.
I'd never heard of these guys til now , wow fuckn great tunes
This video just made my day. Thank you.
First nice song of 2013!!
Lead guitar is very Tony Iommi influenced on this track. In fact apart from the vocalist, I could be listening to Black Sabbath here. Thats a compliment by the way.
well i think its very black sabbath, and the singer could be ozzy ,its close.
This gens Sabbath
R.I.P. The Sword!
I would say they sound more like The Sword
