Yessss. While it's out, why don't you swap in an FJ t case and front axle tube to get rid of the actuators and ADD bullshit? I just did the t case swap, probably be even easier with your taco box. If you do end up having to wire the ADD etc. Let me know which wires trigger the 4hi/4low on the dash, that's the only thing I want to work with my fj case swap lol.
Can’t wait to see how this turns out! I have an anemic 3rd gen Tacoma and a LS 430 in the yard and wondering how friendly they should be with each other…
I love the build and have been waiting for months on its completion since I learned you started this. I seen on Tacomaworld you posted it’s done and driving. This is a swap I seriously want to do to my truck, is there anyway I can pick your brains about what you did? Thank you
It runs and drives. Wheeled all weekend with it. Have to run an aftermarket fuel pressure regulator and hook up some gauges. I’ll eventually post a video up on the current status.
So, It’s in the truck running and driving. Took it out for a weekend of wheeling and had no issues. Couple months later the water pump gave up so I just swapped that a month or so ago. Haven’t had time to put out an update video but I will, soon!
@@TacomaDad That is awesome. I am curious how you managed to get everything to play nicely. I would imagine all the 3rd gen stuff is pretty reliant on CANBUS. How did you get around all that? I've got a 2019 and I hate the 3.5 and the factory transmission. I'm on 35's with 5.29's and I get worse fuel economy than I could have ever imagined. I was thinking about swapping something else into it. Are there any factory systems on yours that have stopped working? ABS? Airbags? Traction control etc? I still want to be able to drive this thing daily.
Oh it’s all standalone. Body harness is there to power all the doodads and gizmos and the motor is separate. 12th state off road makes an adapter for the front differential, so that is push button now, with a j shift t case.
Heck yeah. Another video. Thanks for the update.
So glad your back, a lot of us have been waiting for arguably greatest swap ever. Only thing better would be a swap from the ISF Lexus
So happy you did this!

@@TacomaDad thats awesome! I want to do this down the line to my 2018 2.7L tacoma. videos like this are very helpful.
@@skateinspace it was a struggle to find info on the 3rd gen to do this lol. But it worked out, not bad I guess for a garage build. 😂
Any updates on this?
