I am the hair dresser of my home and I've decided to commit to the loc journey for all of our heads due to our lifestyle, beliefs and time ofc! Ive done my research on cost and cannot afford a loctician right now so videos like these are very helpful. Thank you so much for you wisdom and knowledge !! Much love and appreciation! God bless you sister!
I have been researching locs for about 2-3 years because I am working my way up to getting them. I have seen so many different people discussing what’s good, the approach for your hair type and texture. Looking at all of videos and types and techniques it was so overwhelming. But when I came across your videos I was sold. I felt ready to move to the next step, so I went in for a consultation last Saturday. She was not you LOL but she was informative. Thank you for your videos and helping me move to the next phase.
Thank you for always being so honest. You literally give client's the choice and not just go with whatever they request. You actually care about hair..
The Virgo in me is commitment phobic to restarting because of my pale scalp and various hair textures around the sides and back just as you said. Your honesty is refreshing and clarifying.
Pale scalp? Then give your scalp more sun exposure? Idk, sounds like you're overthinking it (which isn't due to some stars in the sky). You might just need to determine whether you really want locs or should instead go with temporary styling such as twists or faux locs. Trying a temp style out first can help you determine.
Medically retired for over 10yrs and it could be meds. Started a set and it was nice, but I am very particular and do believe it's the stars for me. Thanks for the tips too, I will try again.

Only thing I can say I could use more moisture now that's its longer and at my shoulders. My 10 year old wants me to start his and I want to do him right from the start so your videos have really helped

Starting my locs, the girl I'm probably going to go to is both a loctican & stylist. She has locs and is very experienced so I trust her to do it correctly. I haven't really seen a style that wasn't doable with diamond parts. Sooooo diamond parts, 90-120 locs, comb curls, smedium parts maybe? That's my goal 😁.
I LOVE ❤️ the practical knowledge you give with our explanations! After having had 5 sets of locs in the past (I'm loose narural now, but not by choice 😪), & all the frustration that came with each set & dealing mostly with stylists who didn't know their 💩, I can NOW pretty much tell right off when a stylist DOES know their craft. I justvwish I had known about the different parting systems when I did have locs. The only 1 I knew if was the brick format. Well, that & the freeform method. And although the idea of not having to be anal about maintaining my parts appealed to me, the idea that some of my locs could be the size of a tree trunk, & others could be thinner than a spaghetti 🍝 noodle at random places on my head was a greater turn-off than the sporadic maintenance aspect of that style was appealing. I wish you were in ATL as that's where I'm moving in less than a month. It seems that the locticisns I vibe with are always someplace far away from where I'm currently at. Do you have any loctician friends in ATL that have the same philosophies pertaining to their styling methods & similar level of knowledge as you that you could refer me to?
I’m in ATL and have been searching high and low. It’s hard to find good locticians. I found a lady that gets high reviews called locmama but I’m worried her locs may be too tight due to some pics. Let me know if u find anyone please

I love this video….I have micro locs that I’ve started myself and went without a grid!! I definitely have organic parts and I prefer it that way!! I’ve been doing my own hair since middle school with braids and never focused on perfect parting!! I would always just grab and go and I’m that way with my locs also!!

thank you for this. i have brick parting cuz it’s simple and easy. my cousin want me to start his locs so i’m thinking about brick parting for him too.
Did it grow out beautiful? I’m 4c but my hair isn’t really dense neither is it fine… I just started and it’s two strand twist, hopefully I can keep in for a while cos my hair is really short and I love the twist lol.
This is like the 3rd vid I’ve watched from you! & i just had to subscribe!! I am getting my locs in 18 days!! And I honestly cant wait since its been since last yr November I’ve been showing interest in locss 🖤!
Hello sis, I wished I would have ran across your channel before I cut my locs off, I was loc’d four years and I just cut them on on 12/1 because they were damaged and breaking really bad from the color that I gotten and I didn’t have anyone to tell how I could save them
Thank you from the video. Question, if you have full thick hair with a few different textures which parting would you suggest? So many loctitions mention what's good for people with fine hair that want it to look thick and full but not what's best for hair that's already thick and full . I'm starting my loc journey next month and I have thick thick hair and I want it to be full but not to scalpy as well as lay nicely.
Just found your channel tonight and love it - going through all your videos now! You said the first three are better for a fuller look. I have been told by every stylist every that I have extremely dense and a full head of hair (God must've put about a billion strands on my head haha!). Is there a particular parting that would be better for me since my hair already appears so full all the time (even when I just do temporary two-strand twists on my natural hair)? Thank you!
I'm in Maryland and I'm looking for a knowledgeable loctician to start and maintain my locs. Where are you based out of?! I'm willing to travel at least one state over if needed. Love your content :)
I love c shaped parts but I noticed once you get the the top of the head there are a few that are very oddly shaped. Is there any way to ensure all of the locs are c shaped?
Diamond parting is just a brick pattern at a 45 degree angle. Border them with triangles and it will be the same. Hairlines aren’t squares on the sides and with a buffer area it will leave a triangle.
I started my last set without parts. She just grabbed similar size sections of hair and coiled it. I want to start a second set the same way. I HATE parts. Do you just grab a section and coil too if that’s what the client prefers?
Thank you for these explanations! This helps a lot! I absolutely LOVE the diamond parts. But I’m noticing that I also like the C-shaped parting style. It’s unfortunate that you don’t do diamond parts (I totally understand why lol). Can you send the contact for the one you know that does diamond parts?
I’m starting my loc journey myself, next month. I’m very excited. I like the “informal” parting idea. I do have a question. I have a somewhat sensitive scalp (which is why I make my own oils, butters and flaxseed gel.) do you have any recommendations for what NOT to do with a sensitive scalp/skin?? I got loc gel (natural ingredients) and I use a diluted leave-in, mixed with aloe and rose water, sealed with my oil (very light). Is that doing too much?? I’m a low porosity mixed type 4.
I started my locks again 6 months ago, and they're larger, but I believe she did the grid.I'm just wondering why she did the grid because they're larger. What do you think?
Is there anything wrong with having different sized locs? I made some of my locs smaller and the rest medium, My hair is super thick and very dark so you can't really tell too much when my hair is down but I havent seen anyone else talk about having locs that are different sizes and its starting to make me question if its okay or not. My locs are still in the starting stage so I dont really want to make any changes to them until they have locked up enough/matured.
I was gonna ask that because some of my locs aren’t the same . But then I think there are NO rules with YOUR hair do whatever you like .! If you don’t like it you can change it or start over . It’s all a journey it’s just hair . Good luck !!
Hello Ms. Courtney , Your video helped me a lot with deciding on which grid is best. I'm interested in locs..no I do not want to do my hair Are you taking new clients?
Have you seen clients doing no grid at all for microlocs. I would think it makes reties more difficult but could it be detrimental for hair health to not have a grid?
Yes! I have a picture of microlocs with no grid on my hair page @/hairgoalswithcg on IG. It’s actually not a problem. If I got microlocs, I wouldn’t get a grid
So how do I help my clients that have thinning hair I see this more with my older clients especially if they're taking like medicines and things for like certain conditions or is that something that I should direct them to a dermatologist for. Because I am pursuing my esthetician license but I'm not sure how to help them and I don't wanna stir them wrong
When I get my hair done for two strand twist, I feel like it shows my head to much and not full. I have a lot of hair but when it’s done the twists look mad small. I usually ask for thicker two strands but they come out real thick.
Can you part your hair down the middle for styling with the brick pattern? What parting method is best for optimum styling? Im sorry if you answered this already.
It’s been a year. Have you changed your mind about doing the diamond parts? Lol I am really low density in the front and would like volume and want to book with you!
If you have thick, dense hair it'll likely look full no matter what you do. I have very thick and high density hair, I wanted to control volume a bit so I didn't go too much over 400 microlocs, and I did a grid.
