@courtneygrayton Do instant Locs grow? My hair is very soft and almost straight so no one is able to help to lock it. I had one loctician work on it and said she couldn’t because my hair was too straight. I’m not sure what to do at this point now.
@@CourtneyGraytonyuh I notice my scalp don’t like long locs 😂 i have thick/soft hair so I got like 4-5 inches which my hair was already 5inch so I did pretty good
You are amazing!! Every time I watch your videos I’m thoroughly informed and you speak effortlessly with your knowledge and helps me with my decision to loc!!
THANK YOU so much for this! Especially the instant loc portion. I went with the partial instant Locs in that I was left for room to expand. No one talks about the phases of instant Locs. It’s still a journey 😅
Which method is better if you hope to comb them out in the future (maybe a year or two?)… basically if you wanna commit but have one foot out the door 😬
😂 This is me. I found a video that explains that 2 strand twist is easier to take out than other methods. I had a really bad tangle/knot the other day that I took out with a latch hook needle (the hook part)... Check out Bindi Marc's (Joyce) older videos (4-5 years ago). She took down her interlocks successfully with a push pin and coconut oil. The Nuloxx tool is really great for detangling and removing knots as well.
I'm considering starting my locs using extensions, two strand twist extensions. I want microlocs and I also want to have length since I'm used to having long hair. But I'm not sure how I'll take care of long starter locs. All the starter loc wash day videos I've watched were done on short locs.
Question, which method of starter locs (interlock, coil, or two strand) would you recommend for type 3b/3c hair? I really want to start this journey but don’t know how I should start. *also THANK YOU for all of your information and for your profound knowledge on locs.
This video is soooo useful, you are the best ! I was wondering if instant locks could be done to retight new growth on microlocks ? Bcz it seems simpler & healthier than interlocking and safer than palm roll regards to unravelling. Thank you so much !
I started with two strand twist and they had lumps in them because my hair shrinks alot and i had to take them out. Any advice for me on how and which is the best way for me to start? My hair length is under arm length.
I have a question, I need your advice. I am going to do two strand twist starter locs. However, I do not want thick locs,. Should I make my two strand twist starter locs small in size, so they will mature to be medium size versus thick?
Hello. I am a cancer survivor ( 2008), and i have fine textured/ thinning, at times, hair. I allow the wrong person to start my locs back in 2018, and of course, over the years damage and i have been advised to start again. I wanted to know what size you would suggest? I was thinking of either a size similar to mirco or xsmall sized locs.
Hi Courtney! I subscribed to your page, a lot of helpful insights with locs. Thank you! I am interested in locing my hair, well I want to loc my hair. Based on your videos I’ll likely do brick parting and twist. My question is, I don’t want to start off short. Can I twist my hair with human hair and start loc journey?
Hello there, I've recently subscribed to your channel. I have a Q. I sweat a lot(like every 30 min to 45min)due to Menopause, my hair is thin and I'd like to get micro to small starter locs. What would be the best type of locs for a menopausal woman?
I had 48 braid locs, I started with braids because my hair was short so it helped them stay. Two strands kept unraveling on my hair which sucked 😢 At the beginning they were pretty uniformed and “skinny” but over they blossomed into really fluffy and beautifully thick locs. Also I interlocked. It was so pretty. I miss them lol.
Hello. I've tried 2 strand micro locs four times but a lot of unraveling. I have very fine curly hair. Can I still try instant loc microlocs? I know you said you have yet to see them small. Currently have 2 strand microlocs for 3 weeks but unraveling still. Love your detailed videos.
i started braid locs, ive had them for around 2 weeks, i wanted to try instant locking them.. but idk, i haven't seen many people do it so idk if itll mess my hair up or something
Hello, I'm interested in trying to start locks, but I'm concerned because first, my hair is baby fine and thin 2nd my edge is just trying to fill in and last my hair is short and I don't think it would take /last.
I started with loose braids and I’m one month in. I want to do the palm roll method but I don’t know if I like the looks of the roots being thicker than the rest
Awesome tips✨I heard from some locticians that you can interlock thick locs(2point-4point) and it still be thick locs. What is your view on this because I notice it's not really spoke about vs being shown on social media.
Every time I get retwist on my starter locs, it unravels immediately. Would it be best to do the instant locs near the first 2 inches near the root? I can't seem to make it through a retwist.
Yes, because the tool is creating the loc instead of allowing it to tangle naturally. That’s a common complaint people with instant locs have, but they may loosen up over time!
@@CourtneyGrayton ah okay thankyou for your responses and informative videos! Mine did get softer but they were never ever fully soft always scratchy, i wouldn’t do instant locs again
You braid from root to tip, you interlock from tip to root. Awesome informational video!
Hey! That’s me in your thumbnail. Started my journey w instant locs 💕
Oh cool! 🥹😍 Found you on Pinterest! I can credit you in the description if you’d like.
@@CourtneyGrayton No worries at all! I was pleasantly surprised by this. Locs were done by mukisa locs here on YT.

So glad I found this! Setting my consultation for next month, and I wanna be a bit more knowledgeable when I get in there.
Very very informative video..
Man I need your hands in my head.
Now I’m going to change my braids and do very lose interlocks
Started with braids. Best method.
Absolutely fantastic video!!! Very informative useful and entertaining ! Thank you so much for sharing your information!!!
So happy you think so 🥰 thanks for being here!
Natural & blonde looks good on you! 😍

Do you have a video on LOC size

I just learned you can start locs from braids. This maybe my starter route with interlock maintenance 🤔
Only do it if you want your locs to remain small in size!
@CourtneyGrayton I do. My head too big for the fluffy look unfortunately
Again, THE BEST!!!😀💯

The smaller the better!
I will be eight month’s loc’d on this 23rd of October and my hair still have mad shrinkage. I still have mad frizz. But i love my locs.

Could i braid the root then coil the rest?🤔 Like not too far down town the braids, just to prevent the root from unraveling at first
That’s an option! It would be the same as twisting and then interlocking the root

Yes! Check out my video on interlocking

You may need to nurse your loose hair back to health before starting your locs
I started with loose braids and I’m one month in. I want to do the palm roll method but I don’t know if I like the looks of the roots being thicker than the rest
Makes sense!

Are they doing it consistently? If they start off very big they won’t obviously become microlocs but they will inevitably become much smaller
Every time I get retwist on my starter locs, it unravels immediately. Would it be best to do the instant locs near the first 2 inches near the root? I can't seem to make it through a retwist.
You should get them put into a style
What do you think about sister locs
Crochet over instant locks, plz discuss
I want to take my starter coils out it itches a lot and I sweat a lot and hot. How do I take them out? I have naturally curly hair.
Use a lot of conditioner, small tooth comb, and patience.
Thank you I keep flip flopping if I wanted to keep them, I don’t like the frenzy look too!
Can you add loc extension to hair that already in the process of 2 months
Yes it’s possible
Sorry where are you located?
Can you sell through amazon??
I have in the past! Still deciding if I will in the future
When i had instant locs they felt really rough and scratchy is that normal?
Yes, because the tool is creating the loc instead of allowing it to tangle naturally. That’s a common complaint people with instant locs have, but they may loosen up over time!
@@CourtneyGrayton ah okay thankyou for your responses and informative videos! Mine did get softer but they were never ever fully soft always scratchy, i wouldn’t do instant locs again
