This is a great set for newer characters: saves on repairs, Quick quest line to unlock, easily switched out later game
There are few things I'm more glad to be wrong about than this armor only being tradable on PTS... That, alone, makes it the most viable armor set in the game. Slot a jetpack AND trade the armor? The fact that it's not _quite_ as good as secret service doesn't matter. The trade offs are insane on this.
For me, honestly, in a sense this is a armor set where you trade some minor amount of survival (most sources of damage not being energy after all) for a slight increase in DPS. Repairing gear isn't that big a deal. Repairing a weapon, in combat? That's a loss in damage.
I wouldn't be at all surprised if some sweaty players swap to this purely for that reduction in repair time in combat.
It's a godsend for me, I've tried and failed to get unyielding secret service every day since wastelanders...
This being tradable gives me a chance to upgrade from the random selection of regular tradable armors.
Most of my characters play Scout armor. It’s tradable, pieces are easy to get, mods just cost caps, and it has Shadowed options. I’m not a jet pack fan. I don’t see myself grinding for this new armor.
I need to get mine rolled. I started but no luck yet. My cremator build is only run rank 3 gunsmith. The extra 30% is gonna really make that amazing. This will also be huge for laser rifle and electric auto axe builds where we can free up points for the science perks for the bonus damage.
Anyone else notice the left arm piece becoming visible when crouching? I was wearing a VT jumpsuit and the Civil Engineer armor over that.
I feel like they should have given it fire resistance to make it worth using. Because then you could be immune to poison and fire.
That's what I was hoping for.
@wiggle_plays For the longest time I was hoping the set bonus was a placeholder in the ptb, until they could make the fire resistance effect.

I've managed to get roughly 2/3 pieces unyielding of this myself so far and one bolstering, the last few wasn't that well rolled however I'm really liking the set even tho I have two full sets of unyielding for brotherhood recon and secret service.
The slower breaking of weapons is nice and overall pretty good defenses on the set itself and it's much more pleasing to look at in my opinion of course, buttressed deep pocketed and good to go.

The quest isn't hard but having to go through all the dialogue is. Agree that if you have a decent set of Secret Service armour there's not enough of a benefit to switch to the civil engineer. 1 of my characters got the jetpack as her weekly plan from Expeditions so thats nice, don't have to grind 300 stamps for it.
I wish it could be crafted for level 20. I would craft tons and sell them for cheap down the road from the Wayward

Have a full set of SS Unyielded and with the right stats i wanted (some can be better ofc) so for my Bloodied Commando build i'm fine with what i have, not gonna roll all the gear again. Besides that? If i'm correct? It's way more cheaper to get legendary SS armor then the CE armor caus the SS cost 1 module to make them and you get a legendary of it while the CE needs a full roll / reroll which cost you way more legendary mod and cores.

Yes, Scout armor is tradeable and Civil Engineer is stronger in every category.
I have a full set of unyielding Secret service armor but use my vanguard solar armor. Only bosses are threats until I pull out holy fire or vampires enclave plasma and I just laugh... lol 😊 but I do want to try this out.

You basically need this armor. Without it and with gunsmith maxed you're breaking way too often.
Those numbers on Heavy Combat armor are suspiciously low. Is that in Brotherhood material?
I forgot to mention in the video. The numbers were for Heavy Combat with BOS mod, SS with Buttressed and Heavy Leather with Studded.

I think this is the best armor in the game for the simple fact that RNG owns you. I crafted a TON of them across multiple characters to give to my main. If I equip an armor mod on my backpack, my overall resistances are higher than with my SS set without the backpack armor mod 🤷
Then there are the set bonuses and better look… It was an easy choice for me.
My question is can you switch the perk points on the armor?
9:30 Armor values really stop mattering at ~250 anyway. Secret's 327 ballistic resist is pointless. Civil's 364 energy resist is pointless.
edit: At ~250 resist, damage reduction starts mattering much more than additional damage resistance.

Very happy to see that it is tradeable. I have so many good rolls of the untradeable ones that are on the wrong character.
Honestly will probably use this for a mule or two my secret service armor just tramples it in stats and I already spend hundreds of modules for the roles I want but looks like it is the new best tradeable armore in the game
So does gunsmith cannot stack with the civil set or does it stack up to 50+35=85%?
It stacks but I think it's multiplicative. So it would be 67.5%.
I see myself using a sledgehammer or drill with this armor. It's a shame the nail gun from NV isn't in the game.

Im a junk rat so have a huge amount of materials for repairing, been running secret service. So wasnt sure if this was better than secret service. I havent been running gunsmith, just been repairing
On paper looks alright but i think this is actually the best armor. People forget that your perk cards are actually doing most of the damage reduction.

Under armor can be bought from the stamp vendor in the Whitespring.
Ran the quest last night, took a couple hours, the miniboss was annoying but doable solo as a gunslinger with just enclave plasma pistols.
The timing of this after buying a good number of the SS plans for my alts from Minera is kind of weak. Having to grind stamps for the mods vs bullion for mods is meh as my alts haven't finished the main quests yet to access Vault bullion vendor, Regs?. Alts are just super short on cores for legendary effects, tons a modules due to a flood of scrip trash I find on the ground or player vendors for cheap. Growing stash allotment to the modules is concerning, shame they are not flagged like the cores for weight. You would think they would make the bullion a physical item with weight...nm BGS don't get any ideas.
Overall the stats for the armor are fine. That much radiation protection means alot if you are not wanting to run PA and get caught in the valley in eviction notice when the scrubber gets knocked out. Even with 4 pieces of SS I had plenty of time to swap to a radsuit. Even with my RR commando, yeah the rifle breaks quickly, but I am normally having to pick up ammo(even with Bandolier them spikes are heavy), or dumping loot.
I'll only use the stealth armor.
Damn Wiggle, you're 24hrs late with this video. 😀 As I bought the CEA under armour and shielded mod with stamps yesterday. I'll just stick to my SS under armour after crafting a piece and looking at the stats.

eah, im in two minds about civil engineering armour.
i do definitely need to get myself a good set of properly good armour, my character is in a hodgepodge of random crap ive picked up and like the legendary abilities of but some of it is leather, ive got a robot arm and a combat chest piece... its a mess.
i think that for me, a guy without any of the premium sets and not getting on the game as much as a lot of players (so my bullion is never really accruing like the youtubers seem to always have a million gold going spare) having this set of near premium that i can just go on a quest line and earn reliably and save up my tickets to improve over time seems like a solid choice for me.
i can probably knock out the questline over a weekend, but getting the gold for secret service armour... well im on year three and i can afford an arm piece... so maybe by 2040? XD
and i do like the set bonus. that 35% reduction in breakage is enough for me, so being able to just fully switch out 5 perk cards is a windfall i cant overlook.
oh, and i think running about in the civil service armour with a cremator will be suitably thematic, i may not even put on a costume over it.
How i get Jetpack Mod ?
At the stamp vendor at the Whitespring. It's 300 stamps.

The weapon condition bonus is decent enough to make it useful.. and the fact that I can actually use a jetpack is such a big plus...

It's supposed to stack. I think it's multiplicative though. That would mean 67.5%

Secret service is a meme to me it’s ugly and I barely get amazing benefits using it comparative to niche benefits from other armors

Secret Service armor is five thousand times better than Civil Engineer armor. Why? It doesn't require a single Legendary Core to craft. That means you can basically ignore every public event and Daily Ops to grind for it. New players should save their cores for weapons or build-specific armor, not this. Hard Pass. Now if someone else is willing to grind this for you and sell it to you in their vendor then lucky you. Friend that dummy.

i made a new character and have been playing without jetpacks and can understand why the ai path finding is broken since they cant jump at all
