Is yours blue and if so how do you set the second timer? Mine always sets the first timer to the second timers time but there’s a +6 which makes me think I can’t set the time I desire and it will turn on after 6 hours.
The valve connects one wire into common post and one into the zone you want it to be . Most people have 5 to 6 valves (zones) on their lawn sprinkler system. The valves are located out in the yard. Normally we use a white wire called the common that runs to every valve. Thus called the common. And the the other wire runs from zone 1 to the controller. (Zone 1 waters the left half of front yard, Zone 2 waters right half of front yard, zone 3 waters left half of vacation yard , zone 4 water right half of back yard, zone 5 waters the bush's) the common wire will run to every valve while a single wire for each zone goes to the specific area . A picture would be easier to show you. I can't do that here though.
Your transformer for the SST controller is in the plug. Sprinkler controllers run on low voltage and must convert 120volts DOWN to 25ish, basic the transformer cuts the incoming voltage down by 75%. So to hard wire it you need to first get a transformer that will reduce the incoming voltage. Basically just get an extension cord bc you will spend too much money on the electrical work needed. It's a cheapo controller. Like $50. You will need to spend a couple hundred easy buying the time of am electrician and parts to accomplish what you want. That controller just isn't worth it!! The controller is really junk anyway. Has to be the worst designed program if any on the market. Has a completely different water budget program than any on market and it also can confuse people in the method required to set a start time. Rainbird had no business calling Simple Setup Timer. It is anything but. Simply Skrewed Up Timer is more accurate name. Since that's what most people do when they program this cheap junk. Start time is normally one entry but people will set a different start time for each valve instead a single thanks to thinking it necessary to factor previous zone run time into next zones start time. That snafu alone is enough to relable SST from Simple to Set Timer into Simply Stupid Timer. Way to confuse everyone Rainbird!! Even Toro has made it easier to understand than this. It's a cheapo piece of trash. Don't buy this controller it's junk and limited in ability plus programming can be difficult and unorthodox compared to every other controller on the market. I have been in the industry 30yrs and these controllers are always the one that the consumer is frustrated with and call for help on. Avoid it.

I have an older SST0400i. Does anyone know if this needs batteries or is it built in. I can't find the manual.
You power it via a wall outlet with the supplied power adapter with a 6' cord.
My valve came with two wires, each are black and white. This video does not show how to connect to the controller

My old timer is hardwired directly, i.e. there is no plug nearby. How do I wire the Rainbird SST600IN in this regard?
