This is seriously one of the best home improvement how-to videos I’ve seen on RUclips, regardless of topic. Thanks for making drip irrigation seem so accessible, I went from not knowing where to even begin to feeling ready to tackle a new project!
Thank you so much Joseph, I truly appreciate your feedback! 😊
Great video. I work on an organic farm with LOTS of drip irrigation. One suggestion to viewers: If you are planning drip irrigation on a new garden or other area, install your drip lines before you put down your mulch or compost layer. Foxes and other critters like to tear up the drip lines as a water source as they “investigate” your crops. Happy growing!! 🌻🌺🪴
@@228Brendon agreed. 18 months ago, I installed drip irrigation around my house for foundation watering purposes and for landscaping plants... But never laid mulch on top, since then, I've had to repair some bite marks that created leaks.
Same here. My only concern is I live 35-40 minutes out of town so if I forget or miss one T or elbow, it's super expensive to get more. Regardless, this video is the best I have seen. Definitely watching again to make a plan!!
Dee’s got skills - thanks for the inspiration!
I'm a woman on a half acre property. I re-did my deck on my own, and my next hurdle is setting up a watering system. You made this so digestible!! Thank you for saving all my beautiful plants from this heat. I'm skipping off to plan out my system right now.
You can do it!
A woman with brains and willpower. Thank you very much.
Are you a teacher? You did a GREAT job walking us through the process! Then you would stop and review before continuing ... WELL DONE!
Haha 😄 nope, I'm far from a teacher but I just know how my brain operates/learns and hope some others would understand from it. 😁 thank you kindly 😊
Protip: pulling loops straight off a coil introduces a full twist into the line for each coil. Unrolling it along the ground (or off a spool) allows it to lay flatter and doesn't stress the material. This goes for tubing, rope, cable, water hoses, extension cords, data cables, etc.
Great video and nice yard!
Thank you!
I’ve watched so many irrigation videos trying to wrap my head around all the parts and their purposes and this is definitely the most comprehensive yet easy to understand video I’ve seen. THANK YOU!
Happy to hear!! Thank you 😊
I agree with you, she made it so easy to understand 🧡
I agree! I don’t know how I’m just now coming across this video but I’m so grateful I did. At this time there hasn’t been a video posted in four months. 😿
I hope you’re well Dee, wishing you abundance in all areas that matter to you. 🪴🖤
Thank you so much!!! I've been working on a big project, but it's taking longer than expected 🤪 work, holidays, travel, and weather have been slowing me up. Hopefully, I can get some more videos up soon!! 😁
I agree!
Watch this video over and over and finally did this today. Now I have my system set up and running! Never thought I could do it by myself. thank you thank you!
You're welcome! Very happy it helped!
Agree with other comments. Best one I’ve seen.
That was a great tutorial on drip irrigation installation and design. Now that it has been over a year, you should do a follow-up video if you have not already done so, to show how the system is holding up and if any issue has come up that you would do differently in hindsight. Thanks for taking the time to make the tutorial.
After watching this I finally have the confidence to install drip for my grandmother in her yard :) THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!
Thanks for doing this. Very helpful, i finally put my irrigation in after 2 yrs of handwatering
Thats really smart to do a backflow preventer. Most people on a well don't think of that. Go Bucaneers!
Thank you so much for not rushing anything - for showing every part used (picture, name, link), doing close ups and broader shots and even an overhead map, and recapping to summarize, and in case anything was missed the first time. Even tips to correct mistakes or fix problems! This is one of the best how-to videos I've ever seen!
Thank you kindly!!
My ADD gets in the way and I get overwhelmed with a bunch of instructions. You were clear and concise and to the point, easy to follow. I like how you went over all the supplies and reviewed each one so I had time to write everything down. Thank you so much!
Thank you for watching 😊
SAME!!!
Totally love your video, this is the one video has all the information how to install your own drip irrigation system. Dee showed all the parts and how to use them in detail. I am confident that I can do it by myself. Thank you Dee and waiting for more learning videos from you.❤
Thank you for your awesome feedback!!! 😊
I can’t tell you how many videos I’ve watched on irrigation. You made it so simple!
This is seriously one of the most helpful videos I’ve ever watched in my life!! Wow thank you for the step by step and recaps. I felt so overwhelmed before watching this video and now I feel empowered! Thank you Dee!
Yay!! Thank you Shana for sharing ❤️
Just wanted to let you know that after watching this video we were able to convert all of our flower beds, hanging pots, planters and window boxes to drip irrigation. You are an amazing and natural teacher. Thank you for taking the time to make the video and explain everything from a to z. ❤
Thank you so much for your kind words!!! I really appreciate hearing success stories like this!!
This is the best video for drip line irrigation I have seen so far. I like the descriptions and the demonstrations. Also a system that can hook into a hose bib is perfect for me. I don’t want to cut into my main water line and install a big complex sprinkler system. Thank you.
Thank you Daniel 😊
5 minutes into your video and already subbed. I love how you explain the items and process. Thanks for sharing your knowledge.
Thank you kindly!! 😊
Good morning! This is my second comment on this video and I just wanted to point out that I have converted my whole backyard from grass to woodchips using the method that I learned from you as well as the drip irrigation. I kept getting big squares of cardboard from Bj's for a while and also my local Market Basket. I also called a few tree removal companies around my neck of the woods (Fall River,MA) and one of them brought me about 30 yards of woodchips. You are a very smart go getter and should be very proud of yourself! You rock!!! ❤️🇺🇦🇺🇸🤜
Leo, this is so great to hear!!! Awesome resources!!! Thank you so much for sharing 😊
The BEST! Great details - now I can stop binge watching all the instructions in the universe and just get to work! Thank you - subscribing :)
Thank you 😊
Wow, thank you so much for this. I've been watching videos all day that haven't been helpful in the least - so excited to get started now!!
You're welcome 😊
You are awesome! A very smart woman, and I can hear the Carolina Wren in the background!
Too kind, thank you!
I love your attention to detail as you explain. Best walkthrough video of any subject I've ever seen on youtube. Thank you!
Thank you Dawn!! 😊
By far one of the best videos Ive found on drip irrigation. Usually you have to search youtube for hours to find exactly what you need, today the stars lined up. First video I clicked was this one. Thank you!!!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Yay!! Thank you!! 😊
@@DeesYard can I ask minus any tubing, drippers etc about whats the cost for the mainframe setup? Everything outside of tubing I should say?
Honestly, I'm not sure off the top of my head (it's been a while since I purchased the main parts). You can just add everything you need into the shopping cart to get a ball park price.
aff.dripdepot.com/aff/idevaffiliate.php?id=302
@@DeesYard one last question well two lol;
How does the pressure / water get distributed evenly? Seems like the first portion of the setup would have more pressure than the end? This would make a great video. I know a lot of people have the same question.
Also, where would I place a charcoal filter in this setup, right before the adapter that connects the tubing to the mainframe setup?
Thank you so much for responding!!
As long as you are using the proper size tubing for the length/gph you are using, your pressure will be evenly distributed thoughtout the system. For all my runs, I've noticed the water fills the mainline first (front to end) and then networks out to the smaller tubing/emitters. Here is a tubing chart on what size your mainline should be (based on length)
Tubing Size
Maximum Run Length
Maximum GPH Supplied
1/4"
30 feet
30 GPH
1/2"
200 feet
200 GPH
3/4"
480 feet
480 GPH
1"
960 feet
960 GPH
Carbon/charcoal filters will just replace the filter needed. They should be placed below the backflow preventer.
This video is the best I've found to explain how to install drip! Thank you so much! I know filming all of this is not easy so BIG thank you!
Thank you!!! 😊
This was the last DIY drip irrigation system video I watched out of several and by far Dee's is the very best. She covers all in an easy-to-understand presentation. Now, I hope she will do one on adding a drip system to potted plants. 👍
Thank you kindly 😊
Still watching.. Really good info with great how-to.
Thank you for making this! Super easy to follow, very informative.
Thank you for showing us how easy this can actually be installed. People charge a fortune for something so easy. I still have a lot to learn but this is a great step forward
You're welcome 😊
Great video, very helpful. Good visuals, good demo, good editing (low background music made easier to understand you talking) . I appreciated the explanation of the components and you talking about the blow out. Nothing like learning from others experience. You set me up to take on my little irrigation project, Thank you!
Yay!!! Thank you so much for the awesome feedback 😊
Thank you so much for posting this video. I just installed my first two zone drip system, timer and all!!! You made it look so easy and that gave me the confidence to try. I’m so proud of myself. Thank you sooo much!

Thank you! Happy New Year!!
Thank you for being so thorough and clear in your explanation. Pretty much every other video I've watched to figure this out was so vague for some reason.
Finally, someone who can break it down where I can understand! I feel like I can do it now. Awesome video! Gave it a like and share!
Thank you so much 😊
I really appreciate how you explained all the parts of the installation, it was so clear and it helped me so much, you have no idea how intimidated I was before I found your video, thank you for so much help!

This is an Outstanding video! So clear and well done, with such useful information. It is Exactly what I needed. And I appreciate the link to Drip Depot as a resource. I had not heard of them before and have been having trouble finding the supplies I needed. Thank You!
Thank you!! 😊
👏🏼Thank you! I was breaking my headover this project.
I have spent part of my morning looking at different takes on starting an irrigation system in my flower beds. This was the most informative. The standards of the drip holes may not line up with how you've laid out your flowers and shrubs. The part about adjusting watering with emitters was the BEST PART!! THANK YOU!
Thank you!!! 😊
Damn Dee you knocked this discussion out of the park! I believe I can tackle this project with ease now! Thanks for sharing Your knowledge !! Also a sub is in order here! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Thank you so much!!! 😊
Have wanted to set this system up for a very long time as I have a very large yard and many watering areas. This would free up a great deal of time and hopefully allow me to travel without worrying about everything dying while I was gone. I have a number of automatic timers set up in some locations but this would be fantastic. Hope to get started soon and appreciate all your valuable information.
Awesome!! I felt the same way before installing the drip. Saves me soooo much time 😊
Very good video from a lovely lady. Thanks!!
Thank you 😊
Well done girl. Especially filming and working at once. Great work.
Thank you 😊
Awesome video. I started a landscaping job this past year and felt so lost every time I was put on the irrigation crew and this just explained everything perfectly
Awesome!!!
Dee, this was an excellent DIY. You made it look so easy and thanks for all the great tips and tricks. Have a great weekend!
Thank you Nikki 🤗 I appreciate you, Have a great weekend!💜
Just bought a house and need to fix the drip irrigation that was hastily installed when they prepped the house for showing. This video has given me the confidence to do that, so thank you!
Thank you for your feedback 😊
Really good video. I’m putting in some raised garden beds and a drip irrigation system will be perfect.
Thank you!
FANTASTIC VIDEO! Thank you so much for the thorough explanation, I can see you worked really hard on this video! Subscribed :)
Thank you 😊
Just getting started. Your video gives me confidence that I can do this, it's fantastic! Every detail is included. I took notes and stopped to write down all the parts and your links are so helpful (2 pages). Thank you, thank you, thank you! Are you a teacher? If you're not, you should be!
Thank you so much! I truly appreciate your feedback and I am so happy you found this helpful!! Makes it worth it to me! I am not a teacher but my career in aviation does require me to explain things as clear as I possibly can 😊

Yay!! Thank you so much for you kind feedback!! This makes me so happy 😊
You definitely got this!!! God bless ❤
Thank you so much! There's not enough video about DIY drip irrigation :D
Thank you!! It's quite challenging to explain drip, especially because noone has the exact same layout or needs. 😊
@@DeesYard Im gonna link your video to my garden group :) Many people ask for help with drip system and since here its not that common.. well!

Oh BTW, that shade garden in the video is the place I'm overrun with voles!! It's gotten out of control, I can't stop them, seems like I've tried it all. They're so many tunnels under there. Grrrrrr
Who sent you there Jerry.. Who. 😄

Try small piece of Tupperware with gas in it put holes in the lid so the fumes come out I heard that kills them. Don’t spill 👍
Put it in the tunnel and recover so the fumes stay in
Awesome info & video Dee !! Thx so much 😊 👍😘⚾️
