- A quick video with an idea to store dvds blu ray and cd in an accessible, easy to store way which gets rid of the boxes and allows you to store the media in a small space but still have all the artwork.

I couldn't agree more. Physical media is the only way to go.People that are streaming and getting rid of their DVD & CD collections are making a huge mistake. Exactly for the reasons you have pointed out. I believe they will be sorry down the road
I love my physical media and love to visit my local goodwill type of stores and markets and pick up DVD or Blu Ray cheap
People ask me why don't I stream my movies instead and I tell them the quaity over disc's are not the same and I own the movie and these streaming services can get rid of a movie you might want to watch and then what! I know some people who were watching a TV series and it got taken off the streaming service before they could finish it
The physical disc will be there when you want it, streaming services are expensive and movies always leave.
Yep, and even if buy a movie, if the site you purchased it from loses the license, you lose the media you paid for as well.
@@BerryBog Exactly. With streaming you don't really _own_ anything. You're just paying someone for the privilege of watching what they have the licence to show.

Something like this crossed my mind but i could never. However since i was running out of space, i went in and took a look at my collection and decided to just part ways with the dusties. So discs i had no use for anymore. It was really the best solution because i could still keep the case style presentation, streamline my collection to where it is properly curated now and get some decent money back in return.

What a splendid idea for Dvd storage but I still prefer to store it using a Dvd Album for easy access and better visibility because if you see it,you wouldn't forget about it.Thank you Michael for sharing your wonderful video.
Thank you! I've moved house a few times and i just hauled my dvds and cds out of my last attic yesterday. I don't have the space anymore or the will to store the volume. Excellent idea! I'm off to tackle it now 😊

mate done this got robed lost his whole cd collection in 2 cases over 900 cds.this is a silly idea
By far the best video I’ve found on this topic, simply because it’s from a collector’s perspective.
Usually the videos are made by a mother somewhere attempting to organize the family movie collection of about 30 titles. Lol
My favorite was the mother who asked if anyone actually watches the bonus discs because she didn’t know what they were for and was probably going to recycle them.

I personally think that a dvd shelf looks EXTREMELY better with the cases because you can actually read what the movie is

@@idekmannn when you get past 100 and im now on nearly 500 blu rays i don't want to waste space in my room and this makes them compact and very efficient
I can understand that. I have a fear of storing them this way they are saying and then changing my mind. How about having them catalogued where one can read what is stored in that manner? Would that help deal with this and or that issue?
Great stuff for BluRays (and games), DvD's and CD's.
Most of my CD's are on a computer anyway since you can rip it without those taking huge amounts of GB's. Blu-rays on the other end.... That's something else.
I do agree that the "wall of movies" is a dated decoration in your house. Most ppl now have their best movies presented like that so WAY less space lost.

Gr8 idea , I'm a bit dubious on how they'll prevent scratching but u can't always do that. CD folder wallets you see have a lint free backing on the inside to keep the disc clean and reduce scratching. I'd only want to store things I'm happy to for example My Crow movie I'd keep in its case and display still with my funko and crow figures.

On Canadian Amazon similar bags seem available but not necessarily targeted to dvd / Blu-rays.
What are the size requirements of the sleeves so i can guarantee the slip cover of dvd will fit?
And please also give size for CD sleeves (just in case) which will allow the booklet and back inlay.
I wish you would do a video on how to store TV series so that you can keep the clip art cover and still put them into sleeves. I have searched the Internet and I have not seen one single video on how to store TV series.The problem with TV series is that sometimes there's 6 to 8 disks in each season. I'd appreciate it if you do video on this. I really want to keep the cover art with all the disks in each season together.
good video, I have about 80 DVD's, I'm very picky with the DVD's I buy now. Only the very best movies that I know I will watch. Do you feel the same way about physical XBOX and PS4 games? I have a bunch of 360 and XBOX1 games

you can now buy sleeves that fit Blurays and discs perfectly through Amazon 😀👍. I'm looking to put my Blurays in sleeves as well, so I can collect more with less space .

We are moving to a smaller home and while searching for DVD/Blue ray storage solutions I came across your video. Great idea, thank you so much. Do you have the link for the DVD/Blueray bags? Also, we have some old shows and movies on VHS, they have been in boxes in my basement, any ideas on how to storage those where they would be readily accessible?Thanks Again.
me and my brothers attempted to find a better storage for VHS movies and we removed the tapes from the inside. this way we had a collection of just the spools of tape. sadly, they unwound in a box creating a tangled mess. it shortly became apparent that we needed more space than before to keep the huge ball of mixed movies. not recommended.
buy a cheap usb VHS digitiser and store them as digital files.....or burn them onto DVDs
It truly is the way to go the same people who pay subscriptions same people who finance and lease cars we buy them out right buy something to own not to borrow
I agree! My philosophy re physical media is that I'll only pay for it once, if it's a movie that warrants repeat viewings at will. I'm not enthusiastic about streaming services, since you have to keep purchasing the subscription(s) if you want to keep watching. I figure if vinyl record sales are now quite popular, I can certainly defend owning 300 movies on DVD. (Though I came of age in the 1970's; why anyone would prefer vinyl to CDs or free music streaming is beyond me!)
I’ve been slowly been creating my own movie sets as a way to downsize my collection has my step
1/pick a franchise I have multiple cases for
2/buy a case that can hold them that allow the paper artwork into a new case
3/whic allow me to downsize the cases has I get to have some new space for new stuff or repeat the same step again it’s kinda fun for me
not a terrible idea for blu-rays since you are in such a small space but I wouldn't ever put DVDs in the, they get scratched up a little bit too easy.

What is the thickness of the sleeves are there any more sturdy ones.They looked kind of flimsy when you showed them. Would have loved an actual closer view of the Sleeve products as you were too far away from the camera. I'm a new subscriber and I love your channel.Thank you for posting

Doing this causes CD/DVD ROT the original cd/DVD cases have holes for a reason the cd/DVD have to breathe.
Well all I can say is 5 years on and no discs have failed me yet - matter for you though
I copied most of my CDs, and sold them.. The top CDs I kep..
Same with Blu Rays.. But I am still ripping some and selling..
In the end I will have very small compartment of my most favorite media, which I mostly have emotional attachment..
But I also ripped those. Movies without blu ray player is very nice to play..
Good idea! Approximately how many will fit in the case and still have room to flip through the CD's? I was going to donate mine but I just can't part with them as I have a great CD player and to me they sound great. Sadly I don't have my albums anymore but I suppose storing them would be worse:) LOL
I think I'll get couple of these cases and will then laminate a guide of how they are alphabetized in each row and place them inside the lid of the case. Bottom to top in the lid would equate to front to back in each of the 3 rows of CDS! Thanks, just what I was looking for! :)

@@themediapreacher8154 LOL, yes I meant to then suddenly things became interesting at work and I got a bit side tracked. I work in the health care field so...it is what it is:). Funny thing is I haven't even thought about it until you brought it back to my attention. Things are a little less chaotic at work, I really need to get it done and free up the space they occupy:) My only excuse now is we're having incredible above average warm sunny weather this autumn here in Michigan so need to get outdoors while I can after work and enjoy it while it lasts:) This weather is going to be "history" in a week or two. Since I'm weird and have "always" stored my CDS in alphabetical order on their shelves, it should go fast! LOL Thanks for the reminder!
This is really inspiring but after more research I noticed a few comments talking about the oxidation of the paper against the read-side of the disc affecting them negatively. Have you noticed anything of this nature? In theory this can be prevented by storing in a cool dry place, so shouldn't be an issue. :)

Check out Slim Disc it's a UK company that sells dvd and blu ray sleeves also they sell dvd/blu ray inner sleeves for the disks.
I've been thinking about doing this for my cd collection, but wouldn't doing this take away the value of the products.

Done this years ago and my DVDs got scratched up. Many of them ruined. I would never do this again.
