Thinking about riding the Velocicoaster for the first time? Here’s everything you need to know.Hello and welcome to RixFlix and the next video in our Rikipedia series.The Jurassic World Velocicoaster is the newest roller coaster at Universal’s Islands of Adventure. It is located in the Jurassic Park area of the theme park. The official opening date is June 10th 2021 but was opened for technical rehearsals on April 30th 2021.The Velocicoaster is a launch coaster based on the Jurassic World movie franchise and manufactured by Intamin and designed by Universal Creative.
Other Intamin manufactured coasters at Universal Orlando includes Hagrid's Magical Creatures Motorbike Adventure and Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts.The Velocicoaster is Florida’s fastest launch coaster. It has 2 intense launches. The first launch is at the start of the ride and will take you 0-50 in 2 seconds and leads directly to coaster’s Immelmann feature. The second launch takes you from 40 mph to 70 mph in 2.4 seconds. This second launch will take you straight to the 155-foot-tall top hat feature and then drop you 140 ft at an 80 degree angle.
It is the steepest coaster drop at Universal Orlando.
Also, did you catch me saying 70 mph? With a top speed of 70 mph, the Velocicoaster is the fastest ride at Universal Orlando Resort.

To get in line to ride the Velocicoaster, guests must walk behind the Discover Center. The outside portion of the Velocicoaster queue will take guests by the Islands of Adventure lagoon. There is a test seat before you enter the queue. It is located just to the right of the queue entrance.
Yes, there is a single rider line available. It is to the far right of the queue entrance by near the test seats.Right next to the test seat is the height check…you must be at least 51” inches tall to right the Velocicoaster.
The first inside portion of the queue will take guests to an area that glows neon lights and to a statue of the four velociraptors, (Blue, Echo, Delta, Charlie).Guests next move into a room where 4 windows overlook the second launch section of the coaster track. A projection effect is used to make it appear as if velociraptors are chasing the ride vehicle.
After this, guests enter a room where a presentation by Dr. Henry Wu goes over the science of caring for velociraptors before guest enter an examination room where two muzzled animatronic raptors are caged.
Guests then enter the lockers area. This area is unique as the lockers are two-way lockers. Guests put their belongings in one side, and as guests exit, they remove their items from the other side. In case you missed the test seats at the beginning of the queue, there is a test seat in the locker area.The locker area is also home to the child swap room.After placing their items in a locker, guests then must go through a metal detector. Items such as phone, keys, camera and such are not allowed on the coaster. However, you may wear your eyeglasses or sunglasses on the coaster.You cannot wear your hat on the coaster, it you choose not to place your hat in a locker you’ll have to tuck it into your shirt while you ride.After the metal detector, guest will see a preshow hosted by the movie characters Claire Dearing and Owen Grady.After that you are ready to get on the Velocicoaster, what could go wrong?You may request the front row, and you may request the back row. But there is a capacity limit for front row. If the front row line is full, you might now be allowed to request the front row. But if there is room, but all means, get in line for the front row seats.Personally, I prefer the front row seats. Mainly because it provides an unobstructed view. And that view coming down from the top hat is amazing.A lot people do prefer the back row seats of the Velocicoaster. The consensus is, the back row is a bit more thrilling as it whips you around a bit more.The coaster train is arranged with 2 seats per row and there are 12 rows for a total of 24 riders per row.Once you are loaded and moving here is what you will experience on the Velocicoaster.A launch start that takes you 0-50 mph in 2 seconds into an Immelmann feature. You’ll zoom by four raptors screeching at you.You zip through rock formations, that will make you think you’ll going to lose your head.You’ll have a second launch section that takes you from 40 mph to 70 mph and straight up a 155 foot top hat, then drop you 140 feet at an 80 degree angle.

I am someone who is not a huge fan of that intense stomach drop feeling. If you are the same way, let me assure you, this ride does not give you that feeling. It is just pure fun from start to finish! I would say the most intense "feeling" happens with the second launch, but it is not that "bad." For comparison, the stomach drop feeling is MUCH more intense on the Rip Ride Rock-It drop. I was terrified to ride this for the first time, but I am SO glad I didn't chicken out! Do NOT be too scared to go on Velocicoaster! It is SO much fun!!

I haven't been to universal in almost 3 YEARS and ever since this ride first opened, i always thought of actually going on it. but at the same time, i never liked the intense stomach drop feeling on a roller coaster, so i was also quite afraid to decide going on this the next time i go to universal. But now that i know this, i am confident to ride it because, high speeds, inversions and airtime don't bother me much but its the stomach drops of the rides that make me very uncomfortable.
Okay that's it. Universal needs to hire you. 😅

I love this ride!! I don't love airtime moments so I tucked my legs. I am afraid of heights and still the top hat doesn't seem bad at all, it didn't make me feel like I was 155 feet in the air. The second launch is definitely my favorite part. You do not get a sick feeling at all. I was fortunate enough to be there for soft openings. The first row is definitely the best 👌🏻.

Yes and yes. You can tuck your legs under your seat in the first row. The top hat happens so fast you don't have time to get scared. It's such a smooth ride.

I never left my seat. A girl that had already been on the ride (she is a annual pass holder) told me to tuck my legs in if I didn't like the "air times". Best advice ever. I was able to enjoy it without freaking out 😅
I went on the Velocicoaster on the soft opening for a celebration. The ride is wonderful, Thrilling, and well themed. The Employees are extremely nice and are really trying to make shore you have the best Experience possible. I only have good things to say about this ride, I highly recommend.
We rode this for the first time the other day. We were right behind you. I was expecting this ride to be good. But you know it's wild when you get off and you can't believe that it was real. Getting up to 70 was something that I loved.
This COASTER is Evil, Wicked, Mean and Nasty. The acceleration is sick. I experienced this monster today. To anyone wanting air time, this is what you want. I highly recommend riding Velocicoaster. You must be mentally prepared for the unexpected. Thank you Rick for all o er your videos. Keep them coming!!!

Went during memorial day weekend and I rode this twice! One day in the back row the other day in the front row and I am telling you everyone needs to ride this ride! It is obnoxiously fantastic!

I rode it it was the best roller-coaster I've ever rode
Can't believe how many changes have happened in the parks since we were in Orlando in 2018. With Velocicoaster and Hagrids to look forward to, I really can't wait to get back.

I love thrilling coasters, but going upside down with only a lap bar is too scary for me! I like the security of the shoulder bar, but I'm sure I'll still try it. Thanks for a perfect description Rick! : )

I am going to Universal Orlando August 27th, 28th and 29th. I can't wait to get on Velocicoaster. I am a little nervous about my weight on it because I'm afraid of not fitting. I've read people that are about the same weight as me which is 240ish have been able to ride it. I will post a comment and let you know if I got to ride it or not when I get home.
This is my fear also, although from watching videos(Ricks) some of the riders seem quite big I guess it depends where you carry your bulk? Good luck

It is more intense than the hulk but it goes upside down less, It has some unusual movements but they are equally smooth.

Hey Rick! So do you think the velocicoaster will reach more outrageous wait times than it is already when it opens? By that i mean like 3 hour waits +? I think the average right now it’s around 75 minutes
Has it been open since April? Will there not be a “Grand Opening” or was that all a lie? I booked my trip based on the “Grand Opening” but I’ve been hear that it’s been open and you can ride it whenever?
@@JJSpencers it wasn’t a lie haha, there will still be a grand opening on the 10th. However they have had it open since the beginning of May for technical rehearsals with the caveat that it’s not ALWAYS open. So you may go before the opening and it’ll be running but it’s just not guaranteed because another day it could not be running at all. Versus after the grand opening it should be open pretty much every day if that makes sense

I’m at Universal right now and I talked to some of my friends that are team members and they informed me that it’s just going to be a normal open there won’t be a preshow or anything like that but CityWalk parking opens at 7 o’clock and the park opens at 9. I would be there as soon as you are able because I know the crowds are gonna be crazy

One parent or adult stays with a child that is too small (or not interested ) to go on the ride. Then the they swap so the second parent/adult can go in the ride and not have to wait in the line again.
I really want to ride it cause it’s such a cool ride but I’m not huge the the steep drops and steep ways up? Is the top hat really bad? Or doesn’t it drop your stomach or is it fine I’m fine with fast and you barely leave your seat cause restraints on tight
You posted this awhile back but I’m still going to let you know 😂 in my opinion the top hat was the best part! It does NOT give you that dropping stomach sensation, was super smooth and because of the speed you get launched up and over it goes by fast and really is the coolest roller coaster I’ve ever been on! We stayed at one of their resorts and would wake up early to get in the front of the line, was totally worth it!

To help ease the intensity of the coaster…Make sure to ride closer to the front, the back tends to be more intense. Push down the lap bar as far as it will go so you won’t feel the airtime as much. Good luck!
