      Can you show how to prepare the fabric? I just received some alum but I don't know if it goes in the dye or let it sit with the fabric first. Also, what was that white stuff you added to the leaves?

    • @billynou
      @billynou  4 года назад

      Abby Love hello 😊 you can prepare the fabric with soy milk ( I have another video about that) or you can treat you fabric before with alum.... some people add it to the pot too .... I’d encourage trying everything to find out which works best for you 🌱🤍

    You should definitely consider adding the term "asmr" or "accidental asmr", as this was also really relaxing, as well as informative 💕

      @@billynou I'm not surprised... It was lovely 😊🌹🌹🌹
      Out of curiosity, do you think cotton fabric would react more closely to the colour of the silk, or the bamboo?
      Also, possibly a daft question, but does the colour stay put when washed... Have you done any natural dyes that you've found don't stay put after laundry? Sorry if that's a silly question, I'm new to this... But really want to actually try a couple of your techniques from your videos - thanks again for sharing 💕
      Hope your days are still making you smile, even in these strange times 🌹🌈🔆 Thanks again for sharing what you do xxxx

    I dont know but I think you should try the Indian indigo plant as well, as the plant is from temperate region of India from the foothills of the Himalayas. A legume which will have less requirements for fertilizer to the plant when you have those bushes, plus they grow upto 3 feet tall, so quick growing plant.
    They have a 90 day cycle from seed to harvest, but can be kept as a bush with regular pruning and thinning. Just my suggestion.

    Love your videos! Did you prep the materials with anything first? Or just used the salt? I’m thinking of dyeing my bed sheet but not sure if I need to scour first.

    • @billynou
      @billynou  3 года назад

      Oh yes you should definitely scour and I prepped with soy milk too. Try out some samples first before you commit to a big piece... that way you’ll get a feel for it 😊

    Love this! Which color produced the green vs teal for the fibers you used? How long did it take for you to grow the indigo? I'm thinking of getting some to plant. :)

    • @billynou
      @billynou  4 года назад +3

      Thanks!!! So the silk went darker/ more green as it is a protein fibre and the bamboo went that lovely light teal colour. The plants took a few weeks to get to that size, probably a bit more than a month but I think this varies a lot depending on your climate and you can buy the seeds from a lady called Liz. Her Instagram is @thedogwooddyer. 💙💙

    • @billynou

      Hello... I’ve never dyed Rayon personally but I don’t see why not as it’s usually made with natural fibers! Rose petals can give quite different results depending on which variety and colour they are so I would definitely do some experimenting before hand 😊
