- Despite my reluctance, I went on a full day tour from Oaxaca City, where I had the chance to explore five incredible attractions in the surrounding region. My day started with a visit to the Árbol del Tule, one of the widest trees in the world, located just outside the city. It was amazing to stand in front of such an ancient and massive tree, which has been around for over 2,000 years. From there, I made my way to Hierve el Agua, a stunning natural wonder known for its "petrified waterfalls" and mineral-rich springs. The landscape here was absolutely breathtaking - towering rock formations that look like waterfalls frozen in time, set against the backdrop of the Sierra Madre mountains. What made the experience even more special was being able to swim in the natural pools at the top. The pools, filled with cool, mineral-rich water, are perched right at the edge of the cliffs, offering spectacular views and an unforgettable feeling of floating above the valley. Afterward, I visited Mitla, an ancient archaeological site that’s home to intricate Zapotec and Mixtec ruins. The detailed stone mosaics and the historical significance of the place were truly fascinating. Next, I stopped by a local mezcal distillery to learn about the process of making this iconic Oaxacan drink. I even got to taste some freshly made mezcal, which was a unique experience! Finally, I wrapped up the tour with a visit to a traditional rug weaving factory, where skilled artisans continue to create beautiful loomwoven rugs using techniques passed down through generations. It was a full day of stunning sights, rich culture, and unforgettable experiences
