"tea-oh-tea/wha~can" is how you would say it
Hi. The reason you kept seeing the "earthquake symbol" everywhere is because it's the logo of the Instituto Nacional de Antropología e Historia (INAH). The government agency in charge of of all archeological and historical sites in Mexico.
Oooooh of course! Thank you so much for the info!
Awwwwwesome!
The Lunar New Year is celebrated not only by ethnic Chinese, but also Vietnamese, Koreans, Mongolians and some ethnic minorities in Yunnan and Myanmar. Nationalist Chinese want to claim that the Lunar New Year belongs to them and they can get offended if any foreign businesses which has a market in China can be attacked for using 'Lunar' instead of 'Chinese' when they are addressing to the Koreans, Vietnamese and non-PRC ethnic Chinese outside the Mainland. These businesses have to kowtow to them, apologize and 'correct' it to be CHINESE new year. After the CCP take over, they call it CHINA Year. When their TV greet ethnic Chinese all over the world, they emphasize the word 'China' : Wish all Chinese people all over the world a happy CHINA year. In fact, the lunar calendar was created by Italian cosmologists serving in the Ming courts.
Love. Can you please tell me the name of the restaurant? I’d love to go next time I’m there. 🙂
You bet- it was Restaurante Seminario. It's a little hard to find because you have to go up an elevator that is inside a bookstore, but there is a host outside that will take you.
@ sounds intriguing, lol! Thanks!
OMG - the STREET ART!!! ❤️🙌🏽
😍 Yes! The street art in Oaxaca was some of the best I have ever seen!
Wow! Thanks for sharing this guys! 👋superb filming as well, I really enjoyed what ye showed, even that crazy but cool street. I really wanna go now and see it all for myself. Oh, by the way your husband Irish at all? Cos my wife's Irish from Limerick city.
@ericfreeman273 Thanks! I'm so glad you enjoyed. Yes, the crazy street was all part of the experience for sure- it's a great day out. And yes, Karl grew up in Dublin 😃
@onceuponaglobe oh, that's so cool! 👋 ye guys make a superb couple. 💯👍
Mexican food was one of the first and one of the few that have been declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Mexico is the fifth most megadiverse country (in nature in the world). Mexico is ranked as the fifth richest country culturally in the world. Mexico is listed as one of the five countries with the greatest linguistic wealth; 68 indigenous languages are spoken in Mexico and these in turn have around 365 variants; in fact, the country of Mexico does not have an official language and Spanish is not its official language. Also in Mexico is the oldest library in the Americas in Puebla and also the oldest street in the entire American continent in Mexico City. Also the oldest city or second oldest city in the American continent is in Mexico. Mexico has also been ranked as the number one country to make friends thanks to the kindness of its people, hospitality and inclusion. Mexico is a country that must be protected, rich in resources such as oil something that powers like the United States covet and this is believed in Mexico is one of the reasons why Trump wants to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico to Gulf of America. But this is not something new, the United States government has wanted to do this for a long time.
Mexico City is the city with the most museums after London. And the Museum of Anthropology and History is ranked as the second best museum in the world after the Louvre Museum in Paris. The Alameda Park and Garden is the oldest in the Americas and was the inspiration for the creation of Central Park in New York. The first university in the Americas was also founded in Mexico City, as well as the first hospital, etc. Mexico City is known as the City of Palaces and there are actually tourist tours that take you to them. Some that can be visited are the Post Office Palace and its beautiful architecture, the Palace now the Museum of Art, etc. " El gran Hotel" has beautiful architecture and was the set for the James Bond movie Spectre. The palace, called the House of Tiles, is now a beautiful architectural restoration and the prices are very affordable. I recommend ordering an authentic Mexican breakfast that includes chilaquiles accompanied by Mexican style eggs, a plate of fruit juice, coffee and sweet bread. Chapultepec Castle is the only castle that exists in the entire American continent. It was the home of Spanish viceroys and also of Emperor Maximilian of Austria when Mexico was invaded for the second time by France and came under its rule. This castle was the scene of the tragic scene of the hero children. The United States of America has invaded Mexico twice, one of those times was when the United States STOLE half of its territory, the territories were not ceded they were stolen (the main reasons are the gold discovered in the territory that belonged to Mexico, and slavery since Mexico had let American migrants settle in Mexico, but they wanted to have slaves since slavery was not abolished in the United States, but in Mexico slavery had been abolished for many years and that is one reason why the United States government infiltrated separatist ideas, for example in the state of Texas, Mexico in fact helped many slaves from the United States to escape to a safe place in Mexico) The states stolen from Mexico are: California, Arizona, Utah, Colorado, part of Wisconsin and part of Kansas, New Mexico, Nevada and Texas. During the United States invasion of Mexico, the United States military reached the capital of Mexico, Chapultepec Castle. Many children died there trying to defend Mexico until the end, including Jan Escutia, who wrapped himself in the Mexican flag and threw himself into the abyss to protect the flag. Then the United States flag was raised instead of the Mexican flag at Chapultepec Castle. Chapultepec Castle was also the set for the movie Romeo and Juliet, in which Leonardo DiCaprio appeared. Chapultepec Park is also considered the first or second largest urban park in the world, twice the size of Central Park in NY.
I think half the fun of this arena is getting to interact with the performers. The crowd was joking and shouting taunts throughout the video. I don't know how much of it you picked up on but some of the stuff they were saying was hilarious.😂
I wish I could have understood it. There was 2 guys in particular who kept shouting at the performers and the crowd kept laughing. I didn't have a clue what they said but it was definitely adding to the show. The crowd was half the enjoyment!
I've been watching your recent videos in the last week and must say this is what I would call quality travel. The level of research for every single thing you visit is not seen too often. The fact that you focus on art and culture also makes'em unique in a certain way. This channel needs more views. Greetings from Cuernavaca.
Wow thank you so much 🥰 yes, I try to learn as much as possible about a place when visiting, and hope that comes through in the videos. Thanks for watching! ♥️
That museum is very big. It takes almost a day to complete it. The castle is beautiful (maybe it's just missing the vampire). Did you visit the garden?
Guys I just reached KL, can we you use a train to tambun ?
We took a bus, but there is a train from KL to Ipoh, which is where we stayed when we visited Tambun. Ipoh is about a 20 minute taxi ride from Tambun.
What a beautiful park in Mexico. The Museum has amazing collection of incredible artifacts.
As a Brit, the one and only time I have ever been to Canada i made sure to visit Fort York 🇨🇦🇬🇧 a lovely space
This place looks like LX Factory, in Lisbon.
Interesting! There a few Ex Fabricas popping up around Mexico- but it's possible that they were inspired by places elsewhere. I'll put the LX Factory in Lisbon on my list!
Did you know the 1996 Romeo & Juliet some of the scenes were filmed in the Chapultepec castle?
Wow really?! I did not know that but it makes sense.
Much as I appreciate your videos on CDMX, I recommend a little research on some basics. This building is not a museum, it is Literally, according to its name, directly translated, a "Palace of the Beautiful Arts". Actually an Opera house. Maria Callas sang here for 3 seasons and practically made it a sacred palace in Opera lore. Yes, it has rooms that serve as exhibition spaces, and yes, there are the extraordinary murals, but this is an actively used building dedicated to performace and the arts. // The name is not pronounced BeLLas Artes, (Like the name of BELLA in those vampire flicks)... the double "L" in Spanish becomes a "J" or "Jeh". So it is Beijas ARtes (would be best to do this in PHonetic script), the same way that we do not pronounce LA JOLLA, the neighborhood near Sand Diego, as La DJoLLA, but rather LA HOYA, or Marbella that becomes Marbeya, and Villa that becomes Via.
I'm doing my best to learn as much about Mexico City in the small amount of time I have here, but I'm never going to get everything right, and I don't claim to be an authority on any subjects. Excuse me for not emphasizing the fact that it's an opera house (although I did mention that), but I went there to see the historical art. Also, I cannot speak spanish. I'm trying to learn, but it is a long process. Of course I am not going to pronounce every word correctly.
Excellent video! I LOVED IT. And I did watch the whole thing. ❤
Yay! A kindred soul! 😍 I'm so glad you enjoyed it 👏
I swear to God, I am a local and I am at less than a 20 minute drive there and didn't know about that place! You guys are promoting more CDMX culture than ourselves. Greetings!
With so much going on in CDMX, I imagine it's impossible to keep up with all of the things to do there- but you should check it out! Fantastic entertainment.
Gorgeous video, breathtaking art, beautifully presented.
Thank you 🥰
It looks like a psychedelic trip or a scene from a dystopian movie. Ha ha ha. It reminded me of my chilhood. Thank you.
That's exactly what it was like! Well said 🤣
Psst, psst: The "Anahuacalli Museum" is an architectural masterpiece of Mexican architects Juan O'Gorman and Heriberto Pagelson, not by American Frank Lloyd Wright. Because of its 'Functionalist" aesthetics, it can be associated with, or influenced by, Wright, but it's not by him. If architecture is your thing, check out the UNAM Cultural Center (music, dance, theater, library halls, etc.) and the sculptural park around. Amazing! Good video though. Cheers
I didn't say Frank Lloyd Wright designed the Anahuacalli Museum, I said Rivera collaborated with him on it, which is exactly what it says on a sign outside of the museum. Of course many other people were invloved in the construction and design, but I happened to have some background knowledge of Frank Lloyd Wright and was surprised to see that he had also participated.
This is such a lovely video ! I was wondering do we get tickets for Templo Mayor on the spot ? Planning to go this Sunday ❤ thanks for the lovely video
Thank you so much! Yes we got our tickets on the spot (also on a Sunday morning), no line at all. Have a great time!
From archaeological ruins to a French style living room (Art Nouveau). I liked the tour.
Thanks! 🤣 yes it was a well-rounded day
the holy trinity of mexican muralism: Siqueiros, Rivera and Orozco... You say Siqueiros is intense?... He actually tried to kill Trotsky but failed, and he was put in jail by government because his political revolutionary activities... so yes, intense he was and you can see it on his painting
So true- I bet he would have a very interesting biography to read.
Tell your buddy to stop hitting and touching the reef...
Looove the video! Don’t care for the time hahaha Are you guys still gonna be there to check out Zonamaco early February?
Thank you!! 😍 No, the videos come out a bit behind real time so we've already left the city.
Amazing video. Congratulations.
My wife was a bit nervous about coming here to ski since we only have access to 'hills' but your content really helped ease some nerves. Thanks you two! We are excited about our upcoming trip to Jasper!
That's so good to hear! Yes, I find the big mountains pretty intimidating, but it's great once you're out there- can't beat the views. Have a great time!
"And whot not " mid west im thinking
You sound irish with a headcold , all the best from portlaoise Ireland Sean
great Video! Saludos!!!!
Fellow art lover here dropping a comment to let you know how much I appreciate not only the art but also the way the video was shot and put together. Thank you for focusing on all the different pieces, murals, architecture, interiors, and even the music added such a nice vibe. I really love the more modern art so your tour of the national gallery was such a treat. Thank you so much for showing so many beautiful paintings. I can only imagine how much more beautiful it was to be able to take your time with each one and get up close and see all the details. 25 minutes flew by.😊
A kindred soul! 😍 Thank you so much for your support and kind words! I'm so glad you enjoyed. Mexico City is a treasure trove for art lovers and I'm pleased that there are people out there like you who appreciate it as much as I do. Thanks for watching!
Incredible journey
We really need to visit Mexico City one day
Definitely! It's been a wonderful enlightening experience that I recommend to everyone.
I hope the video mentions the huge amount of trash that no one is going to clean up and the animals that look like skeletons?
Hello. Thank you for sharing your tour of the temples. I also enjoy visiting temples when I visit Thailand and Cambodia. I would like to offer a piece of friendly advice to you. The countries of this region are quite modest in dress, especially at their sacred sites. It is requested of visitors to Wats, Temples, Pagodas etc. to cover the shoulders and legs to a point below the knees.
Happy New Year friends!!! Cheers!!!🥂🥂🥂🥂😍😍😍😍😍❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Happy New Year! 🎆
Thank you Jose, Happy New Year
Thanks for not saying things like: "Did you expect Mexico City to be like this?" or anything of the sort.
Great experience!!!
Ignore the one who believes that in Mexico we ride donkeys, we live in deserts, we are pure partying, HOW IGNORANT... WE ARE MORE THAN THAT, WE ARE ROOTS, TRADITION, DEPTH, TIME, FAMILY, BLOOD, UNION... this Mexican land is a heritage, let no one dare to think that by coming to my country they can keep a piece of it. Only a Mexican by birth from great-great-grandparents can call themselves Mexican.
Happy New Year 2025 next week.
AMAZING place to visit. So peaceful. Was on my bucket list. So beautiful & the people of Mexico city make it such an amazing experience.
Bienvenida, que sigas asombrando de México porque es maravilloso desde su gente, comida, tradiciones, arquitectura y paisaje naturales. Date más tiempo para disfrutarlo.
