You forgot the Haladie!
You guys forgot the long sword
The red bit at the end of a spear helpe to stop blood dripping down the shaft
Watchmojo what no long sword not even as a honourable mention
Historians would disagree
Yeah we all know love if the greatest weapon.
THE MIGHTY KING PEN!!!!
One devastating yet understated weapon: the Turk Kilij sword. The weighted crescent shaped blade allow you to maximize the cutting power of both your arms and gravity. Not as accurate or precise as a Katana but it’s definitely more powerful, it’ll cut bones in half with relatively little effort and even if you’re wearing armor, it’s gonna leave one hell of a bruise or break some ribs
Please, for the love of the gods, look up Fire arrows from LindyBeige.
Finally someone who is worthy.
I miss deadliest warrior
Yea I do too
Damn... Ikr. For honor the game reminded me of that amazing show.
Why? It was hugely inaccurate.
Robert Harden Even if you think that you can't deny that it was entertaining.
Maybe if you don't care about the myths it helped spread. Using Butted chainmail, making the Vikings use strapped shields in testing, I could go on.
so no longsword or gladius
I know right, hell no claymore either.
Or bow
No Zweihander
they need to do top 10 swords
@@Ironwill902 bloody hell...i was just gaunnie comment that 😂😂. Apparently these tossers are gormless about them , no dane axe , kukri , dirk , rapier , long bow , cutlass , cavalry Sabres and broadswords.
Let me guess the Katana will be number one.
katanas are lame
Александр Воробьёв no
Of course it's all mighty katana that can slice through 14 men in full plate armour in one single cut
good guess
i'll take a longsword over a katana any day,
Katana is cooler than hook sword and semi/full auto crossbow?NOWAY!!
Katanna might be the coolest but it doesn't mean it was the best... and yeah I'm crying while typing this.
A genuine katana, and when I say genuine I don't mean the shopping mall katana, is a thing of beauty. Each one is a work of art but, given the choice, I'd rather be swinging a European broadsword if my life depended on it than a katana.
p.s. The tassle on the front of a Chinese spear was to help prevent blood running down the shaft and making it slippery. That's what I've been led to believe anyway, if I'm wrong let me know.
@Michael Terrell II Absolutely, I was just saying that if it were a choice of swords, I'd go European, but in a choice of weapons I'd want a spear and perhaps a mace as back up.
You forgot about the mystical toad fart, of the Wu-Tang clan.
I don’t mind you guys having sponsors on your videos but can you please not interrupt the list to remind us of the sponsorship?
also getting reminded before the video even starts - in the middle of the video and right before the end of a list is just an absolute no-go
I like how you can find a debunk video from historian youtubers on almost every weapon on this list
Sword? You mean Katana, a Japanese translation to “sword”. Noice!
Nah, katana isnt really a translation to 'sword'. Katana is just a term used to refer to a type of traditional japanese swords that are 2 shaku in length. There are other kind of swords based on their length & shape; wakizashi, tachi, odachi, etc. Different lengths, different curvatures, different names. #doneweebing
Stkrdknmibalz well, In google translate. I was right, but your analogy is out of this house.
You mean "ken" is sword? Then how katana is sword and not this kind of sword
I did google translate.
And you think google translate is the best out there... and yes it means sword... but not just sword, you know there are so many words around the world losing part of there meanings by translating them. That is becouse restaurants do not use google translate
The legend says, this weapons are so sharp that can cut you by looking at them...
One day I will buy The Excalibur
and the Dream Weaver
Currently, what is believed to be Excalibur (at least the blade) is in some sort of archive in Britain.
rather have the Muramasa blade
Don't know about Excalibur, but you can buy Dream Weaver from Adobe XD
I am so glad you put Rurouni Kenshin when referencing the Katana! :D
You guys should check out the Urumi from Southern India. Theoretically with proper training, no weapon can inflict a greater damage to opponents than this. Plus looks cool as hell
The weapons look so vintage. I love it!!
My favorite weapon is a the Katana, the ways of the samurai.
mine as well
Kurk Kobee Arana one that weebs wield
Axel J Miller how do you know he’s a weeb?
Katana is overrated
Shamahir or talwar is way better
The katana is overrated and tends to underperform compared to a European longsword
The tassel of the Jiang also had another purpose, absorbing the blood of it’s owners opponents. Without the tassel the blood would make the shaft slick and the weapon would be easier to use!
WatchMojo needs to do some research before putting out these videos. While correct about the mythos surrounding the Katana(sword), the problem of Japan having very little iron meant that these swords were actually made of pieces of iron pounded together, and despite the stories, these made the Katana an inferior sword that took special training on how to strike an object so one would not severely damage the sword.(Yes, later when Japan got access to better supplies of iron, the sword became a very good weapon, but all the myths about the sword come from the edo times, and are purely about only the aristocracy having the sword.)
There is also no mention of a weapon that an entire people and country is named after, that is considered, by weight, maneuverability and damage it could inflict, one of the greatest weapons ever made. The Frank (throwing ax). Yes, most people don't realize this, but that's what I said, research.
hepchaos WatchMojo never does research.
The only thing more ridiculous than the weebs believing the katana was some magical god sword is the people that actually believe the utter nonsense about it being a poor, fragile blade. If YOU actually did any research, you would know that the katana actually was one of the finest blades ever made. The fact that more training was needed than European equivalents was due to its blade heavy design and short reach.
The frank, the kpinga, whatever the hell Ganondorf's sword/FE:A Armorslayer is called, even the not-so-humble boomerang. Granted the boomerang doesn't supernaturally return to you like in popular media, but there's plenty of weapons they missed.
If YOU actually read what I wrote, you would see that I acknowledge that the katana became a superior weapon LATER in it's existence. The earlier weapon, which all the stories are from, was inferior in quality, COMPARATIVELY speaking. Perhaps you should take some reading comprehension courses.
Comparatively speaking, EVERY weapon is better than its older counterpart. The katana's earlier version was still superior to most other weapons of the time. When Japan got access to larger stores of iron was when the katana's superiority started to faulter. More high-quality iron meant weapons other than katanas were able to improve, which in turn reduced the katana's effectiveness.
My reading comprehension is just fine. You need to work on either your communication or your information.
Thank you. I did not. Know I needed to know these things until I saw them. Now I do. Enjoyed guessing what was nrct.
Anyone else remember Deadliest Warrior?
Yep was pretty f'n awesome
Just one tiny clip shown from that show
Great show
Qiang red "feathers" were also allegedly used to keep opponent's blood from dripping into the wielder's hand, making his grip slippery.
Most European swords were deadlier than the katana. What most people don’t know is that katanas were just as heavy as European swords. The also had no pommel or counterweight to the blade, making them more difficult to maneuver. European blades were typically just as sharp or even sharper than katanas. They were also made out of better materials.
I freakn dig the morning star! :)
There are quite a few other weapons deserving a place at this list, at least on the list of "honoroable mentions". Shukonu, the repeating crossbow. Blowgun, simple and in the jungle a frightening weapon. Bola, the South American twirling around legs or necks. And the list goes on and on.
For me nothings more badass than the giant Axe .
What a bunch of awesome weapons
What about the tube that people blow into and little arrows with poison come out ? What's it called
Blow pipe, i guess
Some tribals still use it to hunt small animals
So no mention at all of man at arms or forged in fire at all even though they showed footage of fif. Keep up the great work watchmojo.
I love all the berserk content in this
Thank you for getting the difference between mace and morningstar right. No one ever does and it pisses me off
It wasn't absolutely necessary to make the distinction, thought. Because the morning star is just a subtype of mace. A mace is any kind of object that you can use to bludgeon someone from a little more than arms distance.
I love Berserk ... But Did you really have to remind me of that 2016 *failure* ?
Does this greatsword is too heavy for You?
@@Grimbear13 Aaah please don't hurt me more !
@@Grimbear13 Yeah but Berserk can't be adapted into Anime (there is even video about it) it Will be bad in some way all the time
Battle axe - used for striking and throwing. The Anglo Saxon weapon of choice.
Slingshot - the giant killer. Easy to make and user friendly
I think longswords are awesome just because of half swording. Maybe not quite as useful as a Pole weapon but among swords, they seem pretty awesome. I Probably wouldn't have katanas rated so high mainly because they're primarily cutting weapons and are less useful against armor but to be fair, they are pretty iconic among swords. I would also choose a long sword just because of the "end him rightly" tactic which sounds hilarious.
Kusarigamas are hella cool though
I love all the different Berserk Clips used. You guys must be fans.
This maybe an unpopular opinion but I think Mojo's number 2 pick should switch places with Mojo's number one pick.
Mainly because the number 2 pick is heavier and looks more bad ass.
kenterminatedbygoogle think about this though, a flail is a more badass looking mace that swings around
To be fair, this is for western audiences. The katana is a cool weapon for many reasons. It’s sharp on one side, meaning it’s a striking weapon, good for parries but not full blocking. Also it’s curved meaning it’s a slicing blade not a tearing blade, most tearing or other types of repeated movement blades are straight because they are most useful for, just that, repeated actions. Also katanas have a dual purposed sheath because the blade is fragile. The sheath can be used as a blunt offensive weapon and a pseudo-shield since it’s supposed to be able to withstand the elements and protect the blade. And in my opinion it’s a weapon of talent, like a rapier that tends towards skill and talent over brute strength. Even though brute strength can literally break it if the conditions are right.
Woah That was so cool tshcit right there 👍
Greatsword. Katar. Shakram... metal whip! Awesome.
fransisca throwing axe better be on the list, it's cool af
3:32 what movie/series is that from?
my favortie sword weapons are katanas, and lightsabers, but, i took to make mine a mix of the two, a basically a lazer sword with a tsuba like a katana
You forgot Kris, a weapon from ancient Indonesia that is powerful, symbolic and mythical.
No Claymore / Zweihander..?
I mean if you're guna play berserk clips in most scenes you'd thunk it'd get a mention 😅
Weapons greatness
What about the kusarisama? A japanese weapon that consisted of a weighted chain and sickle. Its way cooler than a katana
0:5 pls tell me the name of the vid I forgot
$hit Y'all, I thought that was Tom Hanks holding that sword on the ad at first glance.
It looked like he was making a crazy face.
Lol
Would've thought the kukri knife would make the list
5:57, that's actually a Kanbano, a Japanese Spiked Bat.
@Michael Terrell II Actually it's more akin to a club than a mace.
Love the katana
Same
Mojo did berserk some justice
Zulu spear and shield
Fire Arrows? Get me Lindybeige!
I always thought a flail was just a wrecking ball with spikes
Isn't that a trebuchet rather than a mangonel?
Oh look, it’s Nuxia’s weapon
Once again pop culture's katana beats actual weapons including the real katana, which were usually only used by nobility, broke or got stuck in armor like any other sword, and because they were harder than European swords, couldn't take as much punishment.
That depends on the time period we re talking about
Love the use of Berserk on this list.
as a Sri Lankan as a South Asian i think these weapons are good for children's who love cool looking things
Yep Coolest ancient wepon
I'm a sucker for Katanas. But it's really stupid and inconvenient in the long run.
IT's SHARP as hell, but is easily. I mean, ridiculously easy to lose it's edge, uttermost it's usage in combat.
THESE HANDZ🤛🤜
When I first heard of Greek Fire, I thought that meant it was made in Greece. But then I learned that the word Greek really meant something like a moat, lake, or swamp. For the safety of people's lives, perhaps it's for the best the instructions on how to make Greek Fire remain a mystery.
What about the Khopesh?
Number 1 should be the long handled battle ax.
Katanas are cool and all until you strike any bit of metal armor and then that fine blade becomes duller than an NPR talkshow or just breaks in half
Interesting
Did not expect shuriken at all
katana, hands down, best sword ever made by mankind
1. Ulfberht swords
Take note flails were rarely used it was not an efficient weapon either when the wielder was at risk as well.
Taiaha number 1
The real name of the twin hooks is 'Shuang Gow'.
The staff is an ancient warrior weapon.
The havy kasurigama is a best ancient warrior wepon
The Sikh chakram!
You forgot urumi and chakra
Flaming arrow are not a real thing. It's a movie thing.
Yeah you can, but the problem with that is that it won't stay lit, and even if it does, it doesn't really make a difference. You should check this video out from Lindybeige called Fire-arrows! ruclips.net/video/zTd_0FRAwOQ/видео.html it can better explain why it won't work. Believe me I would love if it was a real thing, but sadly it's not.
I stand corrected. By the way, I love that last bit. It made me chuckle something fierce. Thank you for that whatever3132. I think that the end of this discussion, since you clearly won this one.
Hat's off to you. No one normally does this amount of research, not even I did(and I have all the time in the world to do it), if I had, I wouldn't have posted the first comment to begin with.
So yeah, I concede, well done whatever3132. Oh and also, thanks for the history lesson, it was well written.
No Millwall brick? What a load of bollocks!! 😉
In my opinion, the phalanx spear, or the pike.
Vlad the Impaler's sword could've easily made this list. Check it out on The deadliest warrior. It's crazy deadly.
It's called the Kilig.
😊😊😊 Oh Yeah The Bow And Arrow is my favourite Weapon Because It forever revolutionize Hunting And Warfare And Plus It perfect for Silent-Kills
Quarterstaff/Spear > everything else, ever.
Do a part 2 of this video PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
In first position we have...
the metal thing that can't take a greatsword.
"hIstoRy DisSAgrEE"
dude it's just the coolest. coolest looking weaponry. that's all.
No dumbfuck the video is called coolest weaponry not coolest looking. And the Katana is neither coolest or the coolest looking.
Musashi Miyamoto
Ippon
West..blunt..east sharp. Oh yaaaa samurai swords are freaking sweet
How about a fist full of sand to the eyes? That's a wepon as old as time
Looks like you get a great sponsor .😂
Husité had much more interesting weapons so you just could look that far. Jan Žižka used mace by the way.

Admit it berserk anime has every deadly weapons in it
We have Jian剑 as Sword and Ji戟 as Spier and Ge戈 as the 2 in 1...Qiang?it took me minutes to figure out that's acturally Gun
Man in the thumbnail looks lile japanese Tom Hanks.
