  • We are On the Road Again, this time in the Virgin River to recover a Toyota Tacoma! They had gotten stuck in a soft spot and so needed just a little tug up out of the waters edge.

Fun fact. After submersion check rear ends, front ends and transmissions. (Anything with a vent)
One summer I nosed a car in a small stream up to the doors. I was pulled out and never thought about it again until later.
Winter came and I went to go to work on a below zero temp day. The car wouldn't shift so I called dear old Dad. He said "I bet the transmission is full of water from the summer creek crossing and it's frozen".
It was a little time with propane torch to make the ice turn to water and the Saginaw 4 speed shifted again!

I wish winch manufacturers could come up with more robust control plugs. Those pins are so small and easily damaged. Even the wireless plugs are easy to damage one of those small pins

Have you ever thought of adding hard wired back up controllers?

@@CaseysOffRoadRecovery Soon as that HH controller wouldn't work i thought to myself "And that's why i always add a hardwired toggle switch in the cab as a back up". Back in the days of regular cab sling trucks. A friend had a switch mounted under the rear window to operate the winch as he was backing up for repo work. always thought that was a cool idea. What did you find out was the problem with the controller?
