*SFM:* + Easy to animate + Fast rendering - Every animation you make takes up incredible space - Need a lot of work for a single thing (particle color for example) - No updates - RANDOM CRITICAL GLITCHES!
So here's some stuff that might help. For the going from 60 to 180 and then the bones not reacting. -Just double click the timeline with the model in it and find the yellow line with the models name for it inside it. then just extend it. (its stupid i know) Bones should be moveable again. For removing props that are baked into map: -Right click on your viewport , go to Draw game entities and click on World Static Props or sometimes Other entities For fixing the bones issue . -Select affected model, right click on it in the Animation Set Editor , go to Utilities and press Reattach to Model To fix the Badwater issue , try maybe Right clicking on the viewport , go to Display and then go Draw Game Entities and select Other Entities Thats all the advice / help i can figure out . Hope these help
Hey mate I wanted to start with Sfm and something I see nobody cover up is how you make the 3d model move on video. It is just that I don't want it to look like it moved while time was stopped. Ik it might sound like a stupid question but I don't feel like wasting hours on smth so basic.
10:02 I believe this issue is caused because model animation stops rendering at a specific point in between the two keyframes you created. Double click the clip from the clip editor, and drag the yellow line which is labeled with the model you are working with, and drag it throughout the time period you are working in.
10:14 i think I remember from years ago that issue comes when your timeline has been extended from after the model has been placed. I forgot where but I think in the movement editor you need to drag the green selection box all the way to the right if it happens.
i swear this guy didn't teach me anything about how to actually do the animation part (no practical showing, only technical theory), however, it was still a good video because it was entertaining.
on 9:58 about your animation curse. when you go forward a few seconds and the model stops moving normally. go to the clip editor and click on the shot twice. find your model there and take some...brown strip to the right. As far as I remember, it all depends on the length of the shot. if it is long or the model is taken from another shot, then this must be done always and with all the objects that you want to animate
7:46 Makes me kinda think someone should get around to cleaning those maps and release them on the workshop. I don't think valve would mind. Like remove all immovable props, OR replace said props with moveable variants. I would suggest the first, especially for use in SFM.
Not sure if someone told you this already, but the issue at 10:05 looks like problem with the model's "timeframe." For some reason, each model has its own timeframe to... move. If you try to animate it after the value of that said timeframe duration, the model basically refuses to move. To fix it, just right click the problematic model and go to show in element viewer > channelsclip > and there should be an option called timeframe. Within timeframe, there is another option called "duration" and all you gotta do is just increase it.
6:19 THANK YOU FOR MENTIONING THIS. i haven't seen many people mention that you don't have to animate everything if most of it will be off screen anyway whenever an animator doesn't animate what isn't shown, it's called cheating the camera. pixar has used this technique ever since toy story, so pretty much the beginning of 3d animation as whole. it especially works when you're only filming from the hips and above (although you shouldn't rely on a hip and above camera shot for everything just to save time or to get out of animating the legs/feet lol). i saw a behind the scenes video briefly mentioning it, but for some reason i can't find it now. i'll edit this comment if i find it though
Using optical illusions is a great way to capture people's attention and even if the animations off camera are wacky is a great way to capture people's attention even if they don't know what's behind the scenes they just enjoy what they see through the normal camera I'm using that in my videos to after watching yours I'm not going to straight up copy your content but I'm glad that you created this tutorial so now I understand much better and how I can improve my animation skills thank you
I discovered that CUtlRBTree overflow can be caused by at least two things, for me it's happened when i have too many workshop addons, and also when i have too many material overrides in my session when rendering.
Fun fact the first animation I made in sfm broke because I added a key frame and suddenly when I move him nothing is anchored to itself and whenever I moved any body part on certain characters they all move away on different axis and when playing the animation that new key frame does nothing I always revisit it and it never works
Hey Das, for that problem at 10:01 I usually right click on the model> show in element viewer> channels clip and then open the timeframe tab, and change the duration to something like 9999. It fixes the problem for me, so I'm pretty sure it'll also work on your SFM. I hope this helps you out, cheers!
10:00 I know how to fix it , go to the clip editor double tap the shot . It will show a lot of yellow . In there go find your model name . Once you found it extend the clip of the model and the click the upward button on top and you should be good to go . If this is to confusing fill free to msg on discord .

You don't need a good pc though
Even with a bad PC it still kinda works with 20 fps or 30
i have a very bad pc “runs minecraft on 1 fps” so anyone who has a bad pc you can probably still run it
@@the-hd5cx My PC crashes google and SFM still works mostly fine.
I wouldn’t say “easy” exactly

Thank you for teaching me the basics of lighting in one minute.

ppl who make sfm animations are such chads
Lazy purple has proof that sfm is haunted by the 10th class
Lazypurple explains all of this

The overflow warning appears and all I have to do is to... Well... REMOVE SOME WORKSHOP MODELS... and the problem is solved...
I don't know for sure, but it also can be a problem with amount of overall bones of indexated models.
Nope. Didn't fix. Already tried.
It could be you have too many models. SFM has a cap of around 3000 models and will crash if you have over that cap
Yes, please make more of these! *I must learn so I can surpass my mediocre and skilled competition.*
