One year and a day after first viewing this property, we are moving all our belongings into it. It's official, we now live here!

As an Italian living abroad, I’m so proud of the two of you having made the step to move to Italy because apart from fulfilling one of your dreams, you have enriched my country with your presence. I wish you the very best in this Italian adventure and enjoy every minute of it
thank you so much for this beautiful welcome in your motherland! ❤️❤️❤️ we are moved 🥰 best of luck and joy on your own adventures abroad!
That kitchen dresser from your great grandmothers was made for that big kitchen. Will be such a great blueprint for how you make the kitchen your own. Congratulations on moving. Your cinematography and storytelling is beautiful and serene.
Congratulations! And well done Team!
"Cutting out the dead wood" and converting it to fuel seems an excellent metaphor for life :)
I have a feeling there have always been a good working team of family and friends in this place. I wonder if that was the unconscious attraction in the first instance? Besides the stunning beauty, of course. It's those subtle energies that contrive to fulfill a dream.
we have the feeling too that this house is a place for togetherness. it didn't influence our decision to buy this place (nit consciously at least) but it definitely has influenced our plans with it. 😊
Now your new life can start. Thank you to your family and friends who did this move with you. Great start. 🎉
it'a start of a new chapter ❤️
“Honouring the dream” ....love that.
How wonderful to have such helpful friends and family! I can't wait to see what you do next.
Beautiful video. It’s nice that you had good helpers on your move. Especially if you have a lot of things. And of course you want family items and things to make you feel at home. The house seems to be happy to be occupied again.
Now you can really get a feel for what you want to do there. So exciting to have so many possibilities!
good helpers are priceless! and oh yes, it feels like the house is happy with all the liveliness!
And now the real fun begins!!!
You must feel so relieved to have that move off your list.
oh yes, we are! it's a good feeling to be home in one place again instead of having your heart in one location and your physical body in another!
Congratulations! And thank you for sharing your journey with us!
I foresee many happy gatherings of friends and family in that beautiful house, good friends, good food, good wine, treasured memories waiting to be born.
we've had so many visitors since the move already ❤️ it's wonderful to see the cascina come back to life!
Well along with it's attractiveness, you managed to find one of the few old Italian houses with easy access and lots of storage options while you're in the process of remodeling... not a small thing! 👍🏼🙂
that's definitely one of the reasons why we loved this house so much! the proximity to the road - even though we would have loved it to be just 10-20 metres further away - has so many benifits: it gets cleared when it snows, it's easy to access with moving vans, acquadotte is close by, etc. it is also a dead end street with a few other farms after us but we only get local traffic :)
Welcome home. 🏠 I’m looking forward to seeing what you do with the place, and enjoying that magnificent view.
@@storiesfromthecascina Definitely lots of pluses, if you have to have a road in front, that's the kind to have and you'll be meeting all your neighbors as well.... I'm sure they're dying of curiosity about your remodel and also happy that the place won't go to ruin. 😉
My parents were Italian, so I'm a dual and I lived in the Veneto for 23 years and I miss Italy so much... it will always be in my heart. I'm in Mexico now, cheaper and I'm closer to the kids in Colorado... one has to be flexible in these new and bizarre times. 🙄
But I'm subscribed and will be keeping an eye on your new adventures... all the best!
@@storiesfromthecascina Well as things go along you can plant a low hedge between the road and you, which would give you a bit more day to day privacy yet won't block your views, maybe rhododendrons or azaleas for color. 😉
As we are watching this I'll bet you are settled in and starting your great adventure. Things will only get better from here.
we're sorta settled, lots of boxes to unpack still 😅
Gefeliciteerd🎉!! Fantastisch ❤
Great to see all the helpers who contributed to your moving in. That young man was pretty entertaining!
I look forward to each of your videos. Your attitude to life is a lovely reminder ... the journey is as important, if not more important, than the destination. I wish you much joy in your new home and I look forward to watching as your life in Italy unfolds. Thank you for sharing.
thank you kathryn! ironically enjoying the journey is something that doesn't always come naturally to us, but this whole adventure is teaching us to be more attentive to it ❤️
What a wonderful place! Congratulations on all your hard work and for the future adventures !
Wishing you good times in your new adventure and can't wait to follow you to see what you do with the building.
thanks! work on the buildings will go in phases and we're currently still figuring out where we want to start. there's a few options 😅 so we're excited to see where we'll be heading too 😋
Welcome to the most beautiful country in the world (nature/biodiversity, art, culture, food...)! ✌😊
Ciao!
Follow your dream congratulations ❤
thank you! 🥰
Grandma's sideboard, the perfect piece of furniture for this house, gave character to the kitchen.I can't imagine modern furniture in a house like this, just like chandeliers, mirrors and other furnishings; only electronic equipment is acceptable, because it's difficult to function without it. The chandelier with crystals from the previous episode is beautiful, I hope it will decorate the house one day.
Can't wait to see what's next! Thanks for the video!
It makes me cry, everything is so beautiful.
Together with my husband we love watching your videos! We found your channel in the very beginning, when you posted first time. Earlier this year we also bought old house to renovate. 100 year old brick school, in northern Poland. We renovate it ourselves for now, just like you. We also love Italy, so may be guests at your cascina sometime in the future! Good luck, keep recording and enjoying the process :) Marika
good luck to you too marika! ❤️ we look forward to welcoming you at the cascina one day 😊
Greetings from Finland. I wish you all the best in your new home. I have been following your journey since the first video. Your videos convey a warm and cozy atmosphere.
Gezellig!
thank you and thanks for following from the very beginning 🥰
A suggestion: treat your (valuable) wooden furniture against termites, wood boorers and other insects and do not place them directly against the wall but leave some space (1 or 2 cm). Great video and adventure!
We're working on it :-) the product for treating the furniture has already been bought!
So happy for you guys!!! 🥳
It’s a beautiful house in a beautiful place! Enjoy making it your home!
😁😁😁
thank you!
Congratulations ❤️❤️ the horse box was like a magician hat, can’t believe how much came out of it 😂. Ps gorgeous sunset x
Haha yes, a lot of stuff can fit into a horse trailer!
Love how things are coming together...the kitchen does seem alive once again! Your helper is quite dapper and funny. Friends like that are hard to come by!
Sitting outside at the table, dining, chatting, laughing, is such a Summer ritual, here too The drone shot of the fog was beautiful! Your chapel is so neat. A great deal was accomplished! Many hands as they say. Your advice on dreams is solid. Cheers to you both from Canada 🇨🇦
I love what you said about following your dreams, not setting them aside. Do what makes you happy. Our mental health is so very important. Thank you so much for sharing your journey and your insights on improving our lives while we can.
Congratulations on moving into your home in Italy! I am looking forward to all of the improvements you'll make.
thank you! and thanks for sharing that our worda resonated ❤️
Congratulations on the big move. It's done, so the rest can begin 😉
yes, new chapters and all 😄
Now that you're finally settling here you just need a dog for the cascina. Looking forward to the next videos!
until they make dogs that beat cats at keeping the mice population at bay, our priority lies with getting a few feline companions. 😉
Terriers do a great job
Congratulations guys, finally you're home. What a beautiful place! Enjoy it! ❤
Thanks so much! 😊
Congratulations on your move. Love the property, and we look forward to seeing what you do with it.
You did it! So exciting...
Always follow your dream. It's up to you to make it happen !!! Time passes very quickly so dont wait too long. As you get older you may be less inclined to change. I followed my dream and I've never been happier ❤
hurray for following your dreams!
Yay! How wonderful !
Hi Isis, I’m really looking forward to more content from your new adventure. I’m picturing a mown path to a small picnic spot; a secret and restful break for you both (Or all?). Happy settling in. Regards from Susan at Hobart.
You have poetic voice with words. Congratulations.
Absolutely beautiful!
Your move reminded me of mine eleven years ago from Missouri to the Olympic peninsula of Washington state. We, like you, moved on our own and had two trucks and cars. Again, like you we carried our family heirlooms, mainly from my great, great aunt.
I hope that you have successful life there.
Congratulations! We're here to follow the dream along with you! Your cascina is beautiful!
Thank you for following our adventure and cheering along the way!
I have seen many farms on RUclips, some in California, Yorkshire, and Estonia. Yours is the most perfect one.
Welcome to your new life...🎉 BTW who is the Wood Chopper? He has a great attitude and work ethic....
thank you ❤️
Congrats! To a happy life! 🥂
thank you ❤️❤️❤️
Congratulations!!!
OMG! So excited for you guys. Happy New Life😊
thank you janet 🥰
Great channel. I’m enjoying your videos.
Your axe-wielding helper seems rather interesting- he should start a channel if he hasn't yet :).
haha he doesn't have his own channel but he's definitely interesting and a man of many talents. he'll be a returning visitor on our channel for sure. 😉
@@storiesfromthecascina He has good energy - something we need ever more of in this world. Me likes.
BEST
Bravissimi 💪
Congratulations, on finally moving in. What a great moving team you have. I am looking forward to watching you as you settle into your new life in Italy. beautiful sunset.
thank you for following our adventure ❤️ the sunsets... oh the sunsets 🥰
Wonderful place
Dream a dream ❤
big day
Great job Marijn
good helpers are priceless and marijn definitely falls in that category!
Congrats on the moving!
Thank you for another lovely episode on your journey! Over 30 years ago I had a dream to move country, and that took 3 years of planning and hard work. Then about 14 years ago I (but not alone this time) had a dream to move from one side of the country to the other, from almost the east coast, to almost as far south-west as you can go 🥰 That changed from dream to another 5 to 6 years of tough planning. More than 5 years later, life is great but as life always is, there are some ups and downs. But as you said, one step at a time, and never give up.
I'm really looking forward to seeing your next steps and how you bring the buildings and land back to life.
happy to hear that you've been following your dreams too ❤️
So, the new life is starting from now! Welcome to Italy another one time!
How exciting 🎉😊
Just spotted the phaff sewing machine - I’m a bridal seamstress 😊
well spotted! we still have to get the hang of using a non electrical sewing machine! right now we use a singer from the 70s that used to belong to isis' grandmother. ❤️
@@storiesfromthecascina I run a page on Facebook- Singer 201k, it’s not phaff but the basics are the same, it’s full of information many years worth..
Completely agree about moving to another country. My small family and I moved first to Ho g Kong from Australia and then to Jakarta in Indonesia. I learnt Cantonese and was already fluent in Bahasa Indonesia- total of ten years away and now my kids are both adventurous and well travelled third culture kids
Family ❤
Welcome in Italy!😊
I love your decor style! So homey and nice! Congrats on settling in! Also wonderful advice on honouring your dreams with realistic ways in the moment. So good! :D
Congratulations 🍾 on your amazing new Home so exciting …Blessings
favourite moments 6:07/6:08 and 9:17/9:18 Keep on taking it easy, y'all.
Auguri a entrambi per la vostra nuova avventura! 🍀🌞🪷 Another well filmed & edited video - a fabulous way to document your sojourn ✨
Nice to see you back. I'm so excited for you as you settle in and make your home.
Thank you so much!
Glad to see you have moved in it will be harder and easier from here on in harder as you push yourself as you see work to be done easier as you are there all the time I did spot the sewing machine and sewing box so for me that is a good start and like your kitchen dresser
there's definitely no shortage of projects to be done here :)
Your videos are just beautiful.
Congratulations on getting your possessions to your new home. I look forward to your progress. Maybe you will be lucky and find some truffles on your property.
there should be truffles on our property as we get a lot of truffle hunters in the fall. but it takes having a good truffle dog to find them :)
@storiesfromthecascina I have successfully hunted without dogs. You look for shavings at the base of trees. At least here in the States. Squirrels leave traces. Truffles are usually near the perimeter of the tree canopy. I attended the Alba truffle festival a few years ago.
something new to learn and dive into then! thanks for sharing your knowledge ❤️
Oh a Phaff!
Amazing
Congratulations! Thank you for your advice and encouragement! 💝
You are so welcome!
How wonderful, you have made it. Your new life truly begins. Looks like a trailer might be handy to have. You are off to a great start. Best wishes.
❤️ the horse trailer is ours and it's staying here in italy with us 😉 it will be useful to move firewood and building materials!
You’ve some beautiful scenery around you 😁
haha yes, the views were definitely one of the selling points of the house 😍
What a lovely video! Thank you for sharing.❤ One curiosity: is it too late now to take a cutting of the old fig tree and plant it in the woods? That tree must have been a staple for wildlife for decades, I imagine! If so it would give them the opportunity of going on having figs for more generations still!
aah i love that you're thinking about the wildlife 🥰 there is another big fig tree right next to it and we have many more smaller ones on the property. we have every intention of making sure our flora and fauna on the property are as diverse as they can be ❤️
It is now, but in all seriousness, they grow quite fast (it was only about 15 years old) and there are plenty of figs around. The next one is only 5 metres away and I think Isis is planning to plant some new fig trees in the future.
they do grow crazy fast. it was cut down just over a month ago and the trunk is already producing new shoots and leaves. you're right, more figs will be planted ❤️ ones that are edible for both humans and other creatures.
Your birdlife is amazing, love the sounds not drowned out by music. Awesome place.
yes it's amazing! and hearing the birdsong change throughout the seasons is magical. 🎶🥰
Thanks for taking us along on your adventure and realization of your dream. Kudos to your moving team.
thanks for loving our moving team! 😉
Welcome to your new home, finally. A lovely setting and plenty of challenges ahead. I look forward to seeing the adventures.
So happy for you, living the dream can start!
Congratulations! We have also just moved to the Langhe.
thank you and congrats to you too!
Congratulations on the move guys 💚
Congratulations
Congratulations and welcome home.
Yay! You are moved!!
Welcome home 🏡
hey Marijn wat een leuke plek en video
Congratulations on the big move!!🍾 I can so appreciate everything you said about keeping the dream alive. It’s taken us about 8 years of several tiny baby steps to settle on buying in Italy (we strongly considered France and Greece as well), and to finally come under contract on a home in le marche. So I absolutely love learning about other peoples’ journeys as well and will continue to follow along on your new adventure in Italy!:) Cheers!!🥂
Thank you for sharing your story with us!
Welcome home and now your Italian adventure begins. I love how every one pulled together to move your goods out from Belgium and the Netherlands, what a move and you kitchen in Italy looks lovely and very homely. Ik wens je het allerbeste in je nieuwe avontuur in Italië. I look forward to watching and sharing your adventure with you.
Thank you! 😃A lot of work to do on that kitchen still (new tiles, painting walls, new lighting painting kitchen cabinets) but it starts to feel a little bit more like ours.
Make your "waiting room" into a "classroom".
I just came across your channel and subscribed. I'm really looking forward to this renovation. Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖 ENGLISH? I can only speak English lol
Welcome!
we try to subtitle all relevant bits of non-english conversation. the dutch parts that are not subtitled are often fragments of poor quality audio recordings (these conversations are unstaged, often not recorded in their entirity as they happen during managing the camera, and we can't put mics on everyone - those things cost! 😄). we choose to not edit them out as it's the authentic sound with the images and it's weird to see mouths move without sound 😉
@@storiesfromthecascinamaybe just put a small message in your subtitles or let people know that some bits won't be subtitled. We turned them on in case you had subtitled. Unfortunately there were some really odd things that got 'said' in the subtitles when you were speaking Dutch.🙃
@@leonieandrewsart4137 Thank for letting us know ;-) Automatic subtitles in RUclips does tend to do weird things sometimes.
Fabulous 🎉 so very happy for you 😊 fantastic video thank you xx
Thanks so much! 😊
🎉🎉🎉
I really enjoy watching your story unfold. I do however have one suggestion for better clarity of viewing. If you could verbally give a frame of reference on some of the beautiful panoramic views. for example: "This is the view of the village from our ___? ___? __?" (balcony, or front door, or where ever it is you are filming from)
most of the views are from the garden :) with 40 acres of land it's not always easy to give a clear verbal frame of reference 😅 our favourite view is from the side of the pollaio/henhouse.
Welcome home Isis and Bertus .. now the most valuable time of your lives has begun.. 🎉😅
🥰🥰🥰❤❤❤🙏🙏🙏
😂❤
Your friend fits right in. Is he now moving too?
we think he wants to! 😅
@@storiesfromthecascina your first live in visitor.
he does :P
@@storiesfromthecascina
Hello! Which camara do you use and which filters? I love them ❤
no filters, cameras are a mix of our samsung smart phones, canon mark iv and and canon eos r5 cameras. if you're starting out i wouldn't neccessarily recommend the r5 (it's a great camera but too expensive for non-professional use really). it's just what I have and use as a professional photographer.
I think you said on earlier vid that one of your moms was moving into the building being cleared of trees. Is that still the plan one day?
That is very much still the plan.!
Where is this exactly in Italy?
we are in the north of italy, in the south of the province of asti :)
May i ask if you have children?
we do not have children :)
