Last shellac show ever. Sad! Been three weeks and I’m still in shock by this loss. The world lost a great one. So glad I got to record with him last year. RIP Steve.
I used to karaoke like that in my 20s!! I am so the girl from outside and my song that everyone loved me to do was Flyleaf’s “I’m So Sick”. I love this so much. Miss you, Steve!!
One of the best bands he ( Steve Albini ) had ever recorded were a band called Fiddlehead from GA on Allied Records... Fantastic band. He recorded their EP "dod-e" for a case of beer & put them up in his home as guests...
Bingeing Shellac and Big Black today in his honor. Dude was a genius! Most people have heard his work in music (playing or producing) but less than half know his name
If and when you listen to the PJ Harvey,Nirvana and Pixies albums produced by Steve Albini, one cannot help but understand the genius of the man. The other albums in those artists catalogs pale in comparison. Truly bummed out at his untimely passing,a very somber day for those that are familiar with his work art and innovation. I am looking forward to the new Shellac album,if the latest tracks are any indication,it will be great as all of his music is. I recommend reading the liner notes to "Songs about Fucking". And the paper on electrocution from the first Shellac album. Rest in Peace Steve Albini
Thanks for this. I really dig the new Karaoke song. Perhaps it is the algorithms, but I just listened to an Albini being interviewed with Fred Armisen. They were talking about their early days in Chicago (1980's) + how Armisen was the emcee for karaoke night at the infamous Lounge Ax Lounge ~ Too Funny!
I was at the Friday show in Amsterdam. This clip the Sunday in Belgium. I noticed him on stage setting up with his mask on. Good god nobody wears a mask in the Netherlands. Dude …it didn’t help

The first song is "Girl From Outside" from the to be released To All Trains record by Shellac of North America.
The sound, the sound, the sound. His recordings are the best my ears ever heard.
My heart still hurts
